  • The romper room gang.

  • I wish they made great shows like this today everything's all drama now on tv.

  • she never said my name at the end

  • The WOR-TV version of Romper Room. Still remember this from childhood. I think Mary Ann Pederson was also one of the reporters for Channel 9 news, as well. I know she was still with the station in some form until at least 83.

  • congradulations, the internet now knows what you looked like as a small child

  • and THIS is why people went from Mary J in the '70s to hard drugs in the '80s

  • The bee's name is doobie...:)

  • Happy Jack must be defeated.

  • awww u were gorgeous, what the heck happened to you????? LOL

  • This is Cia mind control .. Do NOT watch all the people you see on here were eventually turned into poscar myer hot dogs and fed to children at public schools!!

  • I think the writers were smoking a doobie

  • man a lot of these shows look like the writers were on acid lol do you remember Jeremy the Bear? that was trippy

  • @MrROTD Krofft Superstars would serve as a perfect example of writers on acid. I also wouldn't rule out Electric Company and the psychadelic Sesame Street of the Sevenites and the chef that couldn't handle 1 Giant Wedding Cake.

  • good thing this wasn't an episode of Star Trek, red shirt would've sealed your fate

  • @ductraep I assume you came here from TV Tropes too. Yeah, the redshirt comment's a bit of a give-away.

  • @ductraep I was thinking the exact same thing!

  • Doobie?

  • Flap those wings Dooby then smoke one !!!

  • That bitch never did say my name.

  • When did Miss Sally host? That's what I remember.

  • I see you. You're sort of hiding behind Dooby at first. :)

  • I was on romper room in November 1969

  • @Jh49er

That was the year I was born. And incidentially, so was Jennifer Aniston! And the next fact that I offer you will really knock your socks off! Amy Pietz (Annie from "Caroline in the City") and I are the same number of "days" old!

  • This theme isn't the one I remember. I like the theme with the famous vocals.

  • You got to be on the show, You Bastard! We hate you ::SOB SOB::

  • I love how Leonardo DiCaprio said he got thrown off this set.

  • @dicekpapi18

Do you know anything about the circumstances in which he got thrown off of the set? I am sure that it is a very amsuing story!

  • i hated this show and the stupid lady ... and that ugly bee

  • This was great! So glad you got be on this show you must have been thrilled! This was definitely a favorite of mine. Ignore the morons posting negative things...life was different back then and childhood innocence was something we held onto, not tried to get rid of as soon as possible.

  • Unreal! How lucky were you? The only time I saw that bee was after smoking a pound of peyote in Arizona, even after a month I was spraying RAID on ANYONE who was wearing black and yellow...lots of trouble and still paying for my errors. But good for you.

  • okay with all the free time out there, has anyone even remotely considered parodying this intro with the scary clown and having Jack from Jack in the Box pop out instead. I think we have the technology to mess with this opening a little bit. Any takers?

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE I USED TO WATCH THIS CRAP NO WONDER KIDS FROM THE 80'S GENERATION WERE SO STUPID! LOL

  • The bee's name was DOOBIE!!??

  • Goddamn, the theme song alone takes me back. I wonder where all the kids are now.

  • fucking doobie....haha...and then we ALL smoked weed!! :D

  • Omg...the bee's name was Doobie????? That is just SO wrong!!! I can't believe I forgot that! Explains sooo much though. LOL! Thx Mom!

  • My mom was on this show with Ms.Marsha . ( Way before 1980, though. )

  • This show is racist: no non-whites. This show is sexist: girls wearing skirts. I should sue somebody.

  • i cant believe i use to watch this show back in the days ... lmao what the F was i thinking or on : ) ... its all good i also loved the boo galoos .....

  • Yeah tie on some "doobie" wings. As I child I was confused because I thought some how the Doobie Brothers had to do with Romper Room somehow.

  • @thatmuse76 I wonder if you got confused with a Who song with Happy Jack? lol

  • i remember this show! Doo-Bee scared that crap out of me course i was just a little girl WAY back then.

  • I live in Chicago, IL, and I don't remember catching this show. I only saw it in Miami Beach, FL back in the late 70s when I stayed with my grandmother.

There was also a show called Duck Duck Goose. That had to be a local show in Florida, because they gave the address to write in to be on it, and the zip code was 33131.

  • That bee is creepy looking.

  • @loveforlogos It was 1980....I was on this show.

  • @mammer90 so was i :)

  • @mammer90 Yes that is correct. I was on Romper Room in '78 and I remember Miss MaryAnn & Mr Doo Bee so I can tell you there is no way this is from 1956 ! (Not to mention the filming, the fashions and the colors on the set should also tell you that !)

  • @mammer90 . Who were you? I was there as well!

  • @mrjackcoffee Red shirt kid...u were on this episode??

  • @mammer90 Yes the bee.

  • @loveforlogos ahhh memories! Thanks so much for sharing this!

  • @loveforlogos Umm... They didn't have color TV's or analog synth music for opening music on kids shows in 1956.... >.>

  • @loveforlogos LOL no

  • @loveforlogos no no. This is not from the 50's or 60's. It is the 80's. Used to watch it when it when I was growing up then. Besides, the styles of the hair and clothes are not from the 50's.

  • @Jmichaelg038 - Being an 80s child myself, I totally agree with you. As a kid, I watched this show and loved it. The styles and clothes are all 80s.

  • @loveforlogos Man, you seriously need to study the eras better. That show screams late 1970's and early 80's.

  • The opening is from 1957 not 1980

  • @loveforlogos Nope, the analog synthesizer, (the moog) used in this music opener was not born until the 1970's. You're two decades off the mark.

  • @loveforlogos They wouldn't have had sophisticated electronic effects on WOR's logo at that time.

  • After the doobee they can c the magic mirror really works 4 themselves lol wonder if they get the munchees. hidden drug messages like h.r. pufinstuff hes a friend when things get ruff u cant do a little cause u cant do enough, lol

  • i want more of this...

  • where else can i find this same intro

  • doobie

  • hally jack?

i used to have a 45 rpm of this, i think...

  • @darthchaosofrspw2009 Like the original The Joker's Wild!

  • My doobie wings? I can fly around in circles!

  • Imagine watching this intro, while you're TOTALLY baked. How scary would that be??? lol

  • boy do I remember this, but not like this.

  • The Bee look like it should've been on El-Telemundo

  • @blacknite76 LMAO Thanks I needed that......lol

  • those kids look board

  • That opening animation (A-B-C) reminds me very strongly of the animation used by NBC on its "Snake" logo.

  • GOOD MORNING DOOBIE

  • I like Ms. Molly better who agrees?

  • @Chlovan Ms Molly like taking it in her fat ass.

  • i think i remember that opening vaguly

but i also remember ROMPER ROOM AND FRIENDS

  • The composer to the theme song must've had some good stuff.

  • @NYPJO drugs? in a way I think that is what you are referring to?

  • @MichaelHansenFUN Yep, I mean listen to the theme music...

  • she never said my name.........never.

  • Gather round, boys and girls, I'm going to tell you a story. Once upon a time, back in the 80's, in Scottsdale, Arizona, there were two security alarm installers. One day, they were sent to a big, fancy house to install an alarm system. They went from room to room, running wires and installing contacts. But when they got to the master bedroom, they noticed that there were tripods, with cameras on them, and they were all pointed at the bed! "Ooh", said one alarm installer to the other,...

  • @TheMrBlinx ..."it seems that Miss Mary Ann has a romper room of her very own!" "Is this where they film Romper room?" the second installer asked. "No", replied the first installer, "I don't think this version will ever be on TV anytime soon!".

    True story. I'm installer #2. :-)

  • Big Doobie Wings LOL

XD i put those on every morning

  • Was this show for retarded kids with downs syndrome? I remember the jingle. The kid in the red shirt is definitely the poster child for this show.

  • @RCardec74 Why, are you enjoying it?

  • all old children's shows seem to have some kind of drug reference. Doobie, lol

  • I will start flying when I put on my dewbee wings.

  • Brings back such memories every morn before I left for school Id wait and wait for her to say my name at the end.I never heard it once.:(

  • IIRC I starrted seeing this syndicate in the late 1970s - WOR NJ. I lived in Stamford CT.

  • This was one of my favorite shows. She was my favorite RR Teacher!

  • I feel special you posted this on my 30th birthday haha

  • OMG!! This is what I wanted to hear! I used to watch this show while growing up in Maryland in the 1960s and 1970s.

  • I agree pirate..its sad!!

  • I was 5 in 1980. I watched Romper Room every morning. I never thought I'd see it again.

  • Doo -Bee. If you say doobie it sounds (naughty)!

  • i thought it was romper stomper bomper boo,i see billy bobby tommy too,and we`ll see you next time on romper room .......LOL......add your own names.

  • Wow....I didn't realize how hot she was.

  • Stephen Harper is a big fan of doobie :)

  • I'd fuck dewbee up the ass

  • @timmyplane

You do that, you are a definitely a Don't Bee.

  • they never called my name and I watched religiously for it but never happened:( hated that mirror by end..lol

  • Comment removed

  • Leonardo Dicaprio was also in this show.

  • I'm so jealous. I used to get up at like 4am Newfie time to watch this when I was a kid. I think i was on an episode of "Switchback" once when they filmed in Corner Brook. Awesome!

  • She never called my name!!!!! I'm still sad after 30 years.

  • it has a trance edge

  • pretty cool you were on the show..I always wonder if the kids that are adults now go back and see or can find footage of them on TV kid shows.

  • Good morning DOOBIE, heheheh, cough, cough, ohhhhhh yeah putting my wings on alright! Way to go Doobie !!! that synth at the start pwns!

  • Did I really watch this BS??? Oh my....

  • shoot that Happy Jack already. Geez. scariest character ever. In fact I'm surprised nobody has parodied the opening blowing up happy jack. That would indobeely funny :)

  • This show freaked me out as a kid. They had the mirror that would turn clear and she talked about each of the children she saw.... Ick! Creepy.

  • We never had a Romper Room franchise in my hometown, When I went and stayed for visits, with my Aunt and Uncle, their local ABC station had one. It wasn't until my mid-20's I found out about the franchising. This was a fantastic discovery, because I love studying franchises; in business education. Sean Connery's last Bond film nearly showed "franchising", like a business name,

  • Do Bee looks like it smoked a Doobie. :)

  • man, i cant tell u how much i loved this show & that lady host!

  • I LOVED Romper Room... eventhough they never said my name.

  • the jack-in the-box is SATAN!

  • @yarekhunt agreed.

  • @yarekhunt You Tube should remove you, and delete your account. Not even funny.

  • @farrboy2361 WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!.....Take your head out of your ass you flapping pink pussy!

  • @yarekhunt I happen to be male, not female, ASSHOLE! DELETE YOU!

  • this is why some of us are now fucked up adults due to the lsd inducing children's programs they had back then.

  • @rapingurchurches hmm Sid and Marty Krofft never had that affect on me. Now LSD induced programming of the seventies: That is a different story. Oh well nothing good on nowadays just as long as they don't bring back a retro channel with all that LSD programming. I might just have to get cable then in order to relive the nightmare however it was a lot freakier growing up. As an adult, temp. nostalgic effect that gets shrugged off :)

  • In December of 1953, at the age of four, I was one of the children on the original show, (which started in Baltimore) for the standard two week stint. The teacher, Miss Nancy, asked my mom to have me extend for an additional two weeks, and we did. Nancy Rogers (Claster), was a GODDESS to me and probably millions of other children! She radiated goodness, beauty and light. No one is doing more today for children than the David Lynch Foundation. Visit their website DLF.TV.

  • Who's in doobee?

  • "Big DoBee wings...and then start flying with us." Hmmm...some kind of drug reference

  • The opening sequence screams (to me) that it's about 4:30 AM and I'm still awake...can't go to sleep, so it's time for education!

Anyway, lovely post! Thank you for sharing this bit of your personal TV history!

But Happy Jack will get you high tonight...oh, crap...that's Captain Jack...

  • No wonder my mom did not like me watching this show it must have had something to do with that creepy bumblebee and music. The people behind these shows must have been into some drugs or something. Yea, I was still allowed Sesame Street and Mr Rogers but my mother did not like me watching Romper Room.

  • @tubecraft7 If I'm wrong about the whole drug thing then please forgive me, but something about the whole thing seems creepy.

  • @tubecraft7 yeah I think your right man theres a dobee on the show

  • we met miss mary ann at a shakey's pizza parlor in El Monte,Ca in the early 70's.....she was sitting there eating her pizza and we asked her for her autograph she was nice enough to give us the (bee rings) as well...very nice lady as I recall

  • Miss Mary Ann, eh? I'd hit that.

  • @Glitch969 you wouldnt now.

  • @Glitch969 LMAO...not if you saw her now...lol

  • @Glitch969 Damn,dude...she is probably like 70 now! lmao

  • The kid in the brown suspenders ended up a gay porn director.

  • hahaha my dad says that he was in romper room and seseme street and another show that i forgot haha im pretty sure he was in one of them tho heehee ♥

  • little children

  • I used to see this show every moring at my grandmothers house be for school

  • I always wanted to be on this show when I was a little girl!!!

  • OMGGGGG. I REMEMBER THIS WHEN I WAS A KID! Thank you for posting this. Omg, being 40 never felt so good! :)

  • dubee has probably had a couple of dubees

  • I never liked that damn bee. It sends out a bad message. Just doing what you are told without question does not make one a good person. Use your mind. People like Robert Kennedy and Lech Walesa were good people and they didn't just toe the party line like that shitty bee. I have hated that damn bee ever since I was a toddler. In those days I flat out said I didn't want to be a do bee. WHo wants to be a damn drone, following orders? Add to it I hate the costume and its shitty face.

  • @BeatleBangs1964 send a bad message didn't send me and brothers and me friends and my friends a bad message we grew up with moralsand respect and honor, not like kids today carrying guns to school shooting up schools and stuff like that nor we didn't go to school were teachers give out codoms to kids. this generation don't have morals. romper room teach morals and ethics you should be lucky that we had romper room

  • I want some Big Do Bee wings :P

  • I hated this show after a while because they never called me by my (real) first name except ONCE.

  • Mad funny how the bees name is Do Bee(doobie) hahahahaha. Had I know what that meant when I was a kid....

  • @cornynugs I'm surprised Do Bee never made a guest appearance on The Magic Garden.

    Damn those 70s kids shows!

  • @cornynugs Rob Lowe admitted that H.R. Puffenstuff's initials stood for "Happy Relaxing Puffenstuff."

What was WITH these kids' shows hosts?

No wonder my generation woundup so messed up!

  • What was Miss Mary Ann like off stage? I heard a story about her arguing with some kid and then threatning to kick him off the show. heh

  • @NathanielChristopher That's using drama to discipline a naive child. Common teacher tactic.

  • @BettorOffSingle I should find the video... it's actually kind of funny.

  • Mammer I was the same age as you! LOL. I remember I begged my parents to buy me those high steppers. I finally got them. LOL

  • The teacher is fucking hot~

  • LOL!!!!!so CUTE!!! LOL... and i swear, was the Leonardo DiCaprio? lol...or is it just me?

  • I am so putting on my doobie wings and going flying down low.

  • that is really cute lol.

  • The bee was called DOOBEE for Pete's Sake!!!

  • is this the whole cast? Cause leonardo dicaprio was on this show in 1980......

  • is this the whole cast? Because leonardo dicaprio was in this show in 1980......

  • I ain't heard this theme song since 1980! And how the hell did kids' TV turn into the garbage it is today...?!

  • @PatrioticPirate The kid's TV is garbage because adults use poor language.

  • @5354marie ...and that's the only thing that kids know nowadays, so it all comes down to the exact same thing: People don't know how to act anymore.

  • @PatrioticPirate

You got old that's what happend

  • @michiyoyoshiku no, appreciation of good TV went away. You're not old enough to know anything about that.

  • @PatrioticPirate

    I'm 29 retard try again

  • @michiyoyoshiku Little boy, the best part of you dripped down your other Daddy's asscrack. Just like I told your little dumb ass, you aren't old onough to know anything about that, so stay in your place.

    ...talking shit behind a computer.

  • @PatrioticPirate

    Practice what you preach shitfuck

  • @michiyoyoshiku Well, I can go to bed at night, with 200% knowledge that you don't have the balls (or the ovaries) to talk this worthless shit to my face. Romper Room was good TV, and Happy Jack was twice as smart as your dumb ass. I'll even let you have the last word.

MY last word is the one that counts.

  • Chicago, 1976

  • They never called my name.

  • @jeeeeelllll I would wait every mroning for her to call my name NOPE!!!

  • @5starrJennaleigh80 at last check I've never heard of a Romper Episode calling out Moon or Dweezil either. Possibly Frank but could be mistaken. Other names obviously include Axel, Slash, Izzy, and definitely othes Romper Room has never called. It was never an equal opportunity show to begin with :)

  • They had me at 9 WOR NY, but when the ABC Pop Goes The Weasel rocks out...its just a matter of time before you put on your big Doobie wings. You will succumb to the force of romper room.

  • cool! u were on that?! but the bee is freakin me out.

  • how in the hell did we go from this wholesome show to shit like chowder

  • Messing with doobie you will BEE HIGH

  • That damn evil looking Jack in the Box at the beginning used to scare the poop out of me.

  • oh come now! that's not creepy. whatever the case, glad you posted the video.

  • This was the shit back in the day.. along with New Zoo Review.
