Love the song! Yeah, I'm a Christian, and of course I have some differing opinions of how the universe works other than this song, but I perceive it as the confusion and anguish that goes through every man's soul upon hearing the Gospel. While, yes, there are harsh truths to the Gospel, it's really about love.

Of course it sounds nice but it doesn't change anything or shock someone, come on! I, a Christian, believes God is personal and intimate with his creation and wants to be in their lives. @TheSmartSheep Actually what you are describing "Someone who believes god exists, but doesn't personally intervene with our lives" would be a Deist, you would be a Theist who specifically believes in the Abrahamic god in addition to his son (or god himself depending who you ask) Jesus Christ, you may also believe in the holy spirit thus the trinity. Google up deist and theist.

Almost certain it's "this universe" the first time (although if I were just to render it phonetically, I'd say it was 'thish universe'), and "the universe" the second and third times.

My fucking god, these lyrics are amazing. The style of the music, the lyrics, and the instrumental with the baby all really showcase human existence and the struggle very well. The instrumental is my favorite part, nearly brings me to tears every time i listen to it.
