    thx for posting, really interesting.

  • this clown creeps me out !!!!!!!!

  • he's so creepy

  • fuckin scary.

  • I think clowns are fine, but Bozo is just plain scary.

  • That's a woman Bozo.

  • I'm not a fan of clowns and I know that there were a lot of different people who played Bozo. However, this guy was really cute. Funny that his name was Gordan Ramsey. I see that this was filmed in 1968. The chef Gordan Ramsey was a child then. By the way, what was Phyllis' last name?

  • I with GSN was like it was 12 years ago.

  • Well, he's all right, but he's not my Bozo. I grew up in Chicago, so we had Bob Bell who will always be the one and only Bozo.

  • What ever happened to Bozo?

  • hoooo my god its like the worst clown`s nigthmare ever it is very scary looks like "it"peny wise but scarier

  • My god, Bozo is terrifying

  • But he was a pedophile and died in jail

  • So gay this satanic jackass

  • Gordon Ramsey? Is this before Hell's Kitchen? :)

  • bozo the mexican clown?

  • I just found out that Gordon Ramsey aka Bozo also did the voices of Captain Avatar and Orion in Star Blazers.

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYYYY

  • Damn he's creepy...

  • Bozo was the shit growing up!..Meet the real Bozo!!

  • he must be on some shit

  • cute voice bozo ..

  • Bozo crashed into my father with a bike once.

  • Bozo, I always heard of you, but only discovered you today.....you were the John Lennon of Clowns.......

  • wtf his name is soupy who names a kid soupy, im gana name my kid soupy bc now i tihnk its friggin awesome

  • @theothersituation Ha! It's a nickname. His name at birth was Milton Supman, and because of the last name , the kids in the neighborhood took to calling him Soupy.

  • @AdamNedeff His name is actually Milton Soupbone Sales

  • bozo still scares me

  • Who was doing Bozo in this one? There were so many who did him and it's hard to tell.

  • @thedougshowchannel You didn't watch the whole clip.

  • @AdamNedeff I finally watched the whole clip after I made the comment.

  • whoa i wasnt really expecting bozo being cute lolz XD

  • As a person who suffers from a clown phobia i was shit scared watching this...but he was an handsome man,

  • SShhitttttt

  • Hows it like being Dick Draper..?

  • drag queens < clowns..barely

  • Bozo still scare me i like clowns but he just really scared me so bad ><

  • Gordon Ramsey, eh?

  • this seemed so much more fun when John Daly hosted "What's My Line?"

  • Bozo rules! What a freak!!

  • fucking pedophile clown

  • Clowns fucking scare me iw ant to kill them all Unless there the fat ones that like to make people angry

  • my mom was on bozo the clown. she lived where they filmed so she went to lots of shows (: she got to tell bozo a joke.

  • As far as I know about clowns, I thought they weren't allowed to TALK with their make-up on, but then again I might be wrong!

  • @spacedream27 Anyway, it's great to see Arlene in color!

  • I'll be honest, I was born waaaay after this t.v era (I'm almost 23) but I was always interested in old-time things like this. When I first found this, I was very young, and he had a game show, and I imagine it wasn't the same Bozo. I guess you could call me an "old soul", but seeing things like this, things that shouldn't exist on youtube but I'm thankful they do, it makes my young heart smile. To Adamnedeff, thank you so dearly to appealing to the old-young part of me. :')

  • What a bozo.

  • I grew up watching the Boston MA Bozo (Frank Avruch) and still have the autographed photo he gave me at a personal appearance at a Brockton MA department store in 1964 or 1965. (Yes, he was in makeup and signed it "Bozo".)

  • Gordon Ramsey was the second and last NYC based performer to play"Bozo"..Bill Britten was the first entertainer to play the clown.

  • Bozo scared me, too, but nearly as much as Pennywise, from IT.

  • SWEET MOTHER OF FUCK!!!!!

  • Bozo was hot!

  • pennywise

  • I love bozo i want to buy a bozo puppet

  • I remember watching Bozo in the 90s as a kid.

  • Bert Convy died from brain cancer nearly 20 years ago (1991). And perhaps everyone seems happier because (1) they're on-camera n and have to be; and (2) there weren't nearly as many 12-Step programs or rehab centers back then.

  • Somehow, the audience was "in on it" for his appearance without makeup.

  • Bob Bell would NEVER have done the "out of costume" part of this show, though he MIGHT have done it "in costume" only.

  • lol

  • who is that phyllis lady? she was hot !

  • I loved BOZO the Clown I was very sad when I heard he was no longer on

  • he looks like your mom on the streets with that much make-up :D

  • @Olschoolgrl That's just because you were used to Bob. I'm sure the NY people would prefer Gordon. I myself prefer the Flint, MI Bozo.

  • Gee, that Bozo was a hottie!

  • I have always wondered what Mr. Ramsey looked like as he was the voice of ' Captain Avatar ' on Star Blazers. Now I know. Granted he wasn't speaking with the 'gruffness' of Captain Avatar, but I could definitely tell it was him.

  • man bozo looked so creepy

  • Bozo's a chick?

  • uh....Bozo...seems a little light in the ole clown shoes...

  • Bozo as guest, Soupy on panel and NO pie fight?

  • As well they had a clip from the Howie Mandel talk show, and they had the fella who does Krusty the clown on the simpsons, he himself had grown up watching the Chicago Bozo the clown and based the voice he does from that clown. wish they would put some shows on here, great kids show, they just don't know how to make shows with imagination anymore...

  • I found an old vcr tape that had went on all night, and came across the chicago wgn-tv special on bozo the clown. I watched it, bloopers and another clown, and some magic guy. It was great, would love to throw it up here, I was looking for others but see that they dont allow it for the chicago one. After seeing this bozo and some of the others, well they just fall a bit short after seeing the chicago Bozo.

  • Yeah I'll bet they really can't see around those blindfolds

  • My god clowns are so fucking scary.

  • people from the fifties have more balls than modern people lol

  • Gordan Ramsey was a happy-go-lucky American clown and now he's a sadistic British chef.

  • hahahahahaahhaahhahaahhahaah

    i'm scared

  • Lol bozo

    Scares me it's

He is like the clown it lol

  • With full respect to Bozo; He scares the shit out if me!

  • The Real Bozo the Clown wears red from 1961-1969 and it's played with great perfection by the late great Bob Bell.

  • @yogafan6500 The original Bozo first appeared in the late 40's and was played by a man named Colvig (last name). Bozo did records for Capitol Records. He was later played by Larry Harmon who then purchased the Bozo license and franchized the Bozo character. Bob Bell played Bozo for Chicago's WGN-TV, but others played Bozo in other places.

  • @greekweasel: That would be Pinto Colvig (an ex-Disney animator and voice artist; he was the original voice of Goofy), who originally played Bozo on those Capitol children's records [78s in those days] before Larry Harmon, who eventually bought the character from Capitol Records and franchised the character to many local TV stations.

In the cities where there was no locally-made Bozo Show, the version from Boston was syndicated to those areas.

  • Bozo used to scare me.

  • @BurberryShades bozo still scares me. hate him. i like emmett kelly.

  • @BurberryShades Aww I Thought I Was The Only One. He Used To Scare Me Too.

  • @BurberryShades He seriously looks like "it."

  • @BurberryShades No doubt. This guy is terrifying. The hair, the weird mouth make-up, the falsetto followed by the "Jimmy Stewart" voice, the theatrical, effeminate gestures. The whole thing is creepy. There is an entire group of people who are frightened by clowns. This clip gives some insight into why that might be.

  • on the 52 sec bozo shakes hands with host " a master MASONIC handshake is giving here.

  • wow ur so right i see that

  • Imagine these folks taking their kids to Central Park now?

Ah the days prior to papprazzi hounding folks, and the rest of us treating them like demi-gods..

  • thats not bozo

  • OMG i hate this clown!!

    scares the shit of me!@

  • i love clowns!

  • clowns creep me out more than my face

  • Clowns make me piss myself. but not bozo :D

  • In 1971 my sister was on Bozo the clown show in Detroit MI. Could anybody tell me who was Bozo then???

  • This was in 1969.

  • Comment removed

  • Scary clowns! D:

  • This Bozo is annoying. The best Bozo ever was Bob Bell (RIP) from Chicago.

  • this is a queer acting bozo.

  • wally bruner was the host at this time. the boston bozo was frank avruch

  • god, everyone seemed so much happuier in the 70s...men grew their hair and dressed sharp[ and everyone seemed so much more human.......what's become of bert ?

  • He died in 1990.

  • @AdamNedeff it helps to know history.. 1970's were more danger than now

  • @AdamNedeff Thats sad :(

  • Yes, of course, the super-negative '70s were happy.

  • @posthumanhero Those were the days... I base myself off 'em... I dress totally vintage, with black and brown as main colors... And reeeaaal long hair... And the music!!!

  • @posthumanhero

I use to watch Bozo when I was a baby, it's good to see Bozo acting silly afther all these years.

    LOL

  • @posthumanhero oh yeah the decade of the serial killer was a happy one

  • @posthumanhero it was the weed

  • I'm so fuckin scared.

  • The Real Bozo the Clown was in Chicago...that's the one that came on national tv...

  • before the cable/satellite era, the national Bozo show came out of Boston (why else do so many people in the USA think the "ram it clown" myth came in on in their Bozo show). the Boston Bozo was used in markets that aired Bozo, but did not produce their own show. (smaller markets may not have the studio spece to make their own Bozo).

  • thats not bozo! larry harmon was bozo. WTF?

  • Several different markets had their own Bozo.

  • R I P Soupy Sales!

  • im not scared of clowns but bozo creeps me out

  • scarier clown than PENNYWISE or RONALD MCDONALD or JOHN WAYNE GACY

  • Gacy said that clowns can get away with........murder!

  • Don't watch bozo after watching IT

  • My god That Girl Phyllis was sure HOT !!

  • @funkyinca Phyllis Newman was a NYC area TV personality in the '60s and '70s. She was a panelist on a lot of TV game shows during that time frame as well, such as "To Tell The Truth", "Match Game" and others.

  • BOZO IS DA SHIT!

  • rip soupy

  • He looks a bit like a young John Travolta.

  • He was actually handsome w/o all of that makeup on him.

  • He was funny, but his costume was creepy

  • scary fucking shit!!

  • Bob Bell was the only officially recognized Bozo. The licensed Bozo clowns were contractually limited in how they could use the Bozo name. Some were sued for working outside of the terms of the license contract.

  • Bob Bell was the one and only BOZO!

  • im related to him :D must be were i get my awesome sense of humor!

  • CLOWNS ARE CREEPY AS SHIT

  • yes they r

  • There's nothing scary about a clown--in a circus or something. What would be creepy would be meeting one down a dark alley or wooded area at midnight...

  • People who overuse the word 'creepy' are creepy.

  • To us New Yorkers Gordon Ramsey is Bozo.

  • Gordon Ramsay. This just isnt right.

  • exactly- bob bell originated bozo out of chicago and was the best. this version was syndicated in many cities throughout the country.

bob bell had the voice that was closest to the voice on the larry harmon animated cartoons.

Dan Castelneta who is from Chicago admits that he modeled the voice of Krusty the Clown on The Simpsons after Bob Bell.

  • the REAL OR ORIGINAL BOZO was Bob Bell

any others were just poor imitations of the one and only BOZO THE CLOWN

This is why you hear adifference in their voices The original show was broadcast from my hometown of Chicago it was truly amazing and there was a 7 year wait for tickets #1 fan

  • RIP Bozo

  • Poor guy... : /

  • BOZO IS MY HERO!!!!!!!! <333333333

  • I have always had a fear of clowns but for some reason not Bozo the Clown

  • same here, bozo and ronald mcdonald

  • How come whenever I see a video of Bozo his voice is different.

  • poor imitations of Bozo the original was Bob Bell

  • Only the Chicago Bozo was the real Bozo.

  • always wonder why about 93 percant of clowns have red noses

  • cuz i keep punching them in the nose for scaring me, probably...

    o_o'

  • thats absolutely correct!

  • Bozo's voice is so low just like mine.

  • In the early (black and white) version even if the panelist kind of knew the answer they would keep it going awhile to make the show, they were a little more professional in trying to make it entertaining.

  • R.I.P Bozo

  • I was always convinced that Arlene Francis cheats at this game, mainly the mystery guest part.

  • HAHA His name is Gordon Rasmay!!!!!!!!!!

    JUST LIKE THE CHEF :p

  • use to smoke weed and watch him after kindergarden like 15 years after kindergarden. no just kidding kcop 13 we would watch in the summer but by the time school was out he was over in L>A. 1 hr bus time.never got that mine cart full of toys

  • YOU DONKEY!!!

    LOL

  • im related to that clown! Just found out lol

  • i will NEVER understand how people are scared of fat middle aged men in ridiculous makeup..... and yes i HAVE seen It the clown

  • scary....

  • I hope I don't get nightmares after watching this

  • One of my favorite shows when I was 4, or 5

  • Is that Ben Stiller's mom and dad at the end?

  • Yes it was Ben Stiller's parents...

  • where are his parents? I don't see them

  • I always liked the echo caused by being in the Ed Sullivan Theater.

  • What I remember most was the Bozo the Clown TV show that was broadcast on one of the independent stations here in the Los Angeles area in the 60's was one of the beginnings of the show (there were 3 different ones). It was set to a speeded up version of the William Tell Overture and the film was sped up so everyone moved real fast. I always found that hilarious and I wonder if anyone has a copy of that opening.

  • isnt gordon ramsay that chef on hells kitchen???

  • yes...this is Gordon Ramsey, with an E

  • RIP BOZO

  • i didnt grow up with this bozo . i grew up with chicago wgn one

  • My bozo was Willard Scott in Washington DC, but so what? This guy Ramsay was good, too.

  • I always wanted to play Bozos grand prize game

  • the only bozo that mattered was bob bell

  • Comment removed

  • Why do I consider that funny?

  • amazing i think bozo only work in mexico

  • do you have any idea what year this was?

  • The end of the credits say it was taped in 1968, which would be during the first season of the syndicated version.
