    2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ SystemRestore

In the right-pane: * Delete the value DisableConfig * Delete the value DisableSR

  • yes , whenever you get infected by a virus, it is advised to turn system restore off, and remove the virus, and afterwards turn it on. Because the virus could be saved inside the system restore's backup files

  • Me To It Dunt wanna let me restore =(

  • either it is disabled by the virus if you can't open it at all. If you can open it but can not successfully use the restore points, that means, your restore points are corrupted. You can't do anything except turn it off and then on again, thus deleting all the previous restore points

  • turn off system restore can be turned off because it is disabled by group users

  • the virus can disable it. You need to repair it by manually editing registry. This is the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore] * DisableConfig = 0x00000001
