I was playing during the winter, because there was no fucking shit to do, except from visiting the mountains with my snowboard. when I was at my highest I was playing like 8 hours almost every day, but still I managed to get in to the school I wanted and my grades were good. I stopped playing, because of I had better things to do. Life is even better now :p

I personally don't blame people for being addicted to video games, what is the American dream, it's the pursuit of happiness, what are video games, they're cheap happiness. What do you always hear people say, do what makes you happy. Well from how you explained it, maybe your better off because the english language isnt one of your strengths...to not have the will power to walk away from a game is pathetic...but if you use this as an avenue to avoid your friends putting peer pressure on you, or changing you thats fine, be your own person...i play wow probably 4hrs a day sometimes more, but i live with my gf work 5 days a week, and still have time for other things like family. The reason these things get so addicting is because it is natural for humans to feel the need to cooperate with each other and compete against each other, it's very similar to sports, you could say professional athletes are addicted to sports. Not everybody has the chance to do something they love all the time like professional athletes however, and that's where online video games come into play, they give people the ability to cooperate and compete against other people without much restriction.

./sigh. Maybe people have already said similar things, but I play wow and I'm not a crazy addict. But what REALLY annoys me is when someone bitches about a person they know's "life being taken over" by video games, when said someone's sucking back a pack of cigs a day. Hm, a virtual social circle, or sticks of tar, chemicals and dead plants you burn and breath the smoke of. Which seems more of a threat to you? I know my answer.

Ummm... if you play too much than just limit yourself to playing a certain amount every week. Or here's something....TURN OFF THE COMPUTER...it's pretty easy. I play WoW, but I limit myself, I also go to college and do many other things...it is possible to play WoW, but also have a life. It's your choice to not allow yourself to have a life.

I personally don't blame people for being addicted to video games, what is the American dream, it's the pursuit of happiness, what are video games, they're cheap happiness. What do you always hear people say, do what makes you happy. If video games didn't make people happy, they wouldn't be addicting, there is no chemical reaction like with drugs that causes your body to withdraw from lack of it, they offer quick satisfaction and almost instant reward, unlike most things in life.

Well from how you explained it, maybe your better off because the english language isnt one of your strengths...to not have the will power to walk away from a game is pathetic...but if you use this as an avenue to avoid your friends putting peer pressure on you, or changing you thats fine, be your own person...i play wow probably 4hrs a day sometimes more, but i live with my gf work 5 days a week, and still have time for other things like family. Dont make wow a job, make it a hobby, just my .02

The reason these things get so addicting is because it is natural for humans to feel the need to cooperate with each other and compete against each other, it's very similar to sports, you could say professional athletes are addicted to sports. Not everybody has the chance to do something they love all the time like professional athletes however, and that's where online video games come into play, they give people the ability to cooperate and compete against other people without much restriction.

thank you ging. i have a similar thought about the game i play (call of duty 4); some people bitch about it because it's a war simulator, but that's not why i play. i don't play because war is cool or fun, i play because COMPETITION is fun. man loves competition, and it comes in a lot of different forms.
