Jupiter goes around the Sun in 11.86 years. The average Sunspot cycle is 11.08 years. They therefore come into phase every 170 years approximately. Jupiter alone is not the cause of the Sunspot cycle, but when hundreds of years of sunspot cycles are analysed, the period of Jupiter is also found as a secondary peak in the sunspot spectrum along with 9.9 years, the period of Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions.

Thanks, but it is more complex than that even. I did a fourrier summation of the gravitational effect (inverse squre) from the May 2000 alignment back 250 years matched with wolf-number plot. (also did he inverse cube for photospheric tidal effect.

I did various gravitational and tidal calculations using the planets positions at regular intervals over periods of time and found that in both gravitational and tidal effects the Jupiter perihelion period of 11.86 dominates any effects near 11.08 years as observed in Sunspots.
