OH COME ON NOW...

as a oriental and belly dancing teacher of 7 years i know that real belly dacing originates from dancing to this type of music.

yes bellydancing has expanded to many platforms until today but it doesn't change the fact that ORIGINAL bellydancing is danced to arab/mid-eastern/oriental music.

i mean you can apply hip-hop dance moves to classical music but it just doesn'nt change the fact that it was originally danced to hip-hop. same goes for balet etc.

As a world fusion dancer, I don't agree with you that bellydance can't be danced on any other music than arabic music... Of course it originates from the Middle-East, but I see bellydance as a way of expressing emotions. My body is my music instrument and therefore I can express my feelings on any type of music, using the bellydance language.
