In 1968 while travelling from New York to Florida when I was a kid and we were moving, we made a stop in North or South Carolina (I can not recall which). I saw a water fountain that said "whites only". This was 1968 in the "greatest democracy the world has ever known" according to some American media. Talk about hypocrisy and lies. In the weeks leading up to the olympics, he hid the signs promoting segregation and oppression. What is true is that Jesse Owens woke a lot of people up to the contradictions in racist beliefs. His was just the first example, Jackie Robinson was the second and now we have many examples (including the current U.S. President) showing that blacks and other races are just as capable and every bit as human as Caucasians. Not all Americans were or are racist. Racists today are a minority. We have a black president -white people voted for him.

Yet throughout his life, he never once allowed this prejudice to alter his compassion toward others. His greatest victory, in my opinion, was keeping his heart free of the hate that surrounded him.

Not many men like him in any era..............The Japanese American Soldier's of the 442nd Nisei also had this. Having had everything stolen from them due to the same insane paranoid racism labeling them as "dirty japs". Jessie was treated as well as anyone else in Germany... he slept in the same hotels, ate at the same places as the whites, but in America he had to eat in the colored only places and stay out of the white hotels.... This video is a lie. Owens was not discrminated by HItler. In fact, in Berlin, Owens felt different because he could go to bars without a "WHITE ONLY" sign hanging.
Owens said "he held nothing against Hitler" but did not like Roosevelt because Roosevelt DID NOT EVEN SEND HIM A LETTER.
iN AMERICA, Owens had to ride a freight elevator to get his award from NYC mayor. The hotel that the mayor was at had only "WHITE ONLY" elevators.

This isn't even aptly titled, Hitler was the most famous leader of all History, and stirred a passion that couldn't be anything less than true! Jesse Owens was a phenomenal athlete who should have Lance Armstrong's place in History. Not Hitler's. this isn't 'Jesse vrs. Hitler' it's a video about the 1936 Olympics. Although I wasn't invited to shake hands with Hitler, I wasn't invited to the White House to shake hands with the President either.
