this is how i did: i've assigned the sound to the pads and i've done just how you've explained it....here is where i am now.......now how do it make a sequence....after i've assigned the sound to the pads what do i do....do i have to press sequence?!! coz if i do press sequence i see written on the display of the mpc the write sequence but i have no sounds....i don't understand....maybe i missed a previous tutorial i dunno

dude, i do what you're doing after i push the pad i want it to be on, and then push do it, the sample doesnt change, its stuck on the same thing that was loaded before, it doesnt reasign to the sound i want it to

When I press the track button like yourself I have the option come up saying "Tr: A1-Track 01" Which doesn't fall in line with what your saying. Once it came to down to making a track it all went to hell.

man it doesn't let me assign to a pad. If i click do it on a folder it says load folder clear memory i put no and do it then replace file name no and press do it it loads all the sounds from the hip hop folder but i don't know where to go from there. Can you help? thanks

when i assign the drums to the pad and then hit sequence....it deletes all the assigned pads and uses factory pre sets...what am i doing wrong?

goto program create new program name it asign pads AND MAKE SURE WHEN U CHANGE TRACKS U MAKE IT THE SAME PROGRAM EXAMPLE TRACK ! COULD BE ON THE NEW PROGRAM U MADE WITH THE PAD ASSIGND SAMPLES BUT TRACK will still be on the factory preset program so go to select program make sure its the one u made

Some samples may not have any bassline. so what would you do to add a bassline to your beats?

thats the only thing stopping me from buyin this. the bassline part for beats. otherwise, i might just cop an axiom 25 keyboard and forego mobility of mpc500

ok maybe i'm retarded, but i'm watching this tutorial WITH my mpc in my lap..followed all the steps along with you rios... but after I load a drum into a pad, I can't hear it by pressing the pad when i'm in sequence mode. wtf?? i've GOTTA be missing something. harnessing my chi right now.....

ok sorry for the late late LATE reply but if you haven't fixed it yet after loading your samples press sequence and then press "full level". that should allow the pads to sound loud without smashing them.

Nah yo I fixed it. The "Pad to Sampler" was turned to off. I bought the MPC used in brand new condition. It's just that the owner messed with it and jacked up all the settings. I've got a Q though. 1. When i'm recording my keyboard to the mpc it says insufficient memory (I have basic RAM and a 2G CF card) Whats the deal with that? it's barely got anything on it. 2. How do i save it so i dont have to keep changing SFX to off everytime i turn the mpc on? its annoying haha.

ok yo its like this in my sequences for some reason i get this annoying ass slight little pause before my drums loop.. its really pissing me off because i seen videos where people made beats and made crucial errors and it still came out perfect. wtf...man its really annoying the fuck out of me.

ok sounds like you might be hitting the pads on a time correct. if you press the pads all free when it's on 1/8th time correction it may record the press on a timeline. but if you have the time correct off it will record exactly like you press it.

i believe if you format your cf card or get a new one you won't have that problem. i believe that the akai cf card has auto load feature.

connect your cf to your pc.

erase the autoload folder (thats the folder that has the awful beats loaded into it.)

umm i got two questions.......if you hook the mpc up to the computer with the usb connections will the sounds from the mpc come out through your computer speakers.........and my other question is what does it do when you turn the "rec gain" up or down.........

No, the USB is used for putting stuff on your CF Card.

And REC gain is how loud the stuff is your recording, so if you're sampling from a record, you can turn the record gain down to make it quieter, instead of turning your volume down.

i watched one of his other vids he covered exactly what you are asking

go into program mode and change everything from poly to mono and that should fix that overdub nonsense.

And for multiple samples, you can assign them to a mute group, so as soon as your play the other sample, it will cut off the previous one.

that's gonna save me alot of trouble, but do you have any help for how to save what you assign to pads, like what i mean by that is i want to know how i can just turn it on load my stuff and hit the pads and it will play what i assigned, because it is such a hassle to have to load every sample and reassign it to the pads every time god i love the mpc500 but this is just annoying man!!!! also being as i never owned one before so i am a first time owner, pretty happy with bsides that
