Tallulah had most rare big-eyed beauty, and a totally emancipated persona, still shredding todays girls who (think) their wild. I always thought she was the epitome of what a truly beautiful actress should be. No one could replace Tallulah. The Studio System didnt market her films correctly. She truly scared the hell out of many people, but Tallulah became the most Classic of them all. Fearless!
Once a theater critic called her "a wicked archangel". This was an understatement, but the english language has no better expression for such a "God's gift to this planet" ... Other languages surely can't describe her better ... Blessed the generations, who have a idea of her!
I wish Tallulah would live today: She conquered stage, movie, radio and TV. The englishspeaking world loves her! (2 or 5 crackheads maybe not - put them to to nuthouse!). I'm sure, she would today conquer the entire cyberspace !!! Much more people would be fans of her, if they only knew, that such a divine woman existed ...
This video made me cry!! Tallulah was the most beautiful actress ever, and so talented- why couldn't she have stayed young and lived forever??!! I wish she'd done a lot more movies, what a talent at drama!! They can keep Garbo, I'll stick with Marlene and Tallulah!! I think she was actually a very unhappy person- I wish she could have found what she really needed in life, so few of us ever do!!
Thank you so very much for making this montage of Tallulah !!!!!! It was really breath taking !!!!!! In her youth her eyes remind me so much of "Garbo" ! A really top job done here with the music and pictures ! P.s Hope you are in enjoying Dublin as I am Irish LOL .
@seethevolcane Correct! Without "Lifeboat", I (and many others) would have never known, that there was once a Tallulah ... The audience, who saw her on stage are already gone now ... Sad. But we have a few films to remember and worship her
@SpaceCowboy641 Hitch saw Tallu in London stage in 1920s, remembered her and cast her as Connie Porter in 'Lifeboat.' Brill. When she did her first pix here in early 30s the directors were newby's and didn't know what to do with her. This includes the freshman Cukor. Huzzahs for Hitch!
@seethevolcane I agree completly with You! The first directors and movie-tycoons must have been without no clue, what such a goddess could have been for the movie industry. Without Tallulah and with the Hays-Code became Hollywood a "schmaltz"-factory ... Her stage work was outstanding, but not recorded... I praise Hitch for this good work !!!
@seethevolcane Yes, without Hitch and "Lifeboat", she would now be in deep oblivion ...Only a footnote in theater-chronics and first-movies-archives ... only available for specialized historians ... Her 110th birthday will be soon. Perhaps she will be rediscovered next year. The time is high and she deserves it ! Thanks to the internet and digital copies her work could multiplied in a way, that she never could have imagine !!!
Yes, definitely a great video! The music, the face, the emotion. I found it after reading today's (Feb 17 2010) NY Times article about all the plays that have been written about her. Her fearless candor--hers is the kind of "glamor" I can admire.
@NetxEnigma what does 'bougiwa' mean? I think She was very 'bougiwa'! ha ha. I am sure Talullah would have been depressed if she hadn't been having so much fun! lol
Thanks for your comment ! You're right, she was more of a "happy" person than a sad one, but I wanted to explore another side, and in the films I watched her characters were not particularly joyful... But that is the reason why I made a more flamboyant video of her, "All fire and music", which, I think, corresponds better to her energy and her temperament...
I can't stop watching this and am curious to know which movie she is in at :47 seconds.. in the evening dress getting powdered down.. someone please tell me
Un montage très intéressant! Merci, la musique est magnifique et qui donne envie de voir les films dans lesquels cette actrice a jouée. J'aime aussi beaucoup son style vestimentaire du moins celui des films. Pour finir, cette actrice semble très talentueuse.
I love it! I love it!! I love it!!! And, I love her! More than sweet. Thank you, this is definitely my favorite. But how did you get all these movies ?

Yes! "A Royal Scandal" has moments of classic comedy. And Tallu, looking beautiful, is a riot.

Great video! My only criticism is that the song seems a bit...somber? She was a party girl.
