No, my girls never bit me. They totally knew the difference. They were pretty careful. It's like they would groom their cage mates. I had one special needs girl who was a biter, and I couldn't even pick her up. Poor thing. So of course I wouldn't let her near my mouth or fingers.

I never got anything from my girls and they all did it LOL. They have a very dry mouth so at least they don't slobber like dogs. They have so much fun cleaning me so I let them. It's very cute! I feel like I am part of the rat pack.

One of my boy ratties loves to give me kisses inside my mouth. I felt bad, but it would always make me laugh, and then it would startle him. It never made me sick either. They're very clean. Actually, medical health folks say it's when you get bitten by another PERSON that you have to go to the hospital. Our mouths are the dirty, germy ones.

Well, all pet rats are actually rattus norvegicus - just domesticated. Her fur is "agouti" color which is the closest to the color of a wild rat, I believe.
