This is not tragic. What is tragic is they way they where treated in Burma. They have come to Thailand were they are allowed to stay. They are very proud of their culture and continue to live life as they always have. They do not hold Thai identity cards therefore they cannot move around Thailand freely. This is not 10 Km north of Chiang Mai as they cannot travel that far from the Burma boarder. I have friends that are Karen (longneck) and they are very happy with their lives in Thailand.
