The `slide` I think is deffo irrelevant. Besides a photographic background would not blend so realistically. and a green screen would show hints of color amongst his hair.
why would you call him a cuntwad? Of course it is a trick THAT IS THE POINT! HE DOES NOT HAS bullshit mind magic powers. No one does, thats the entire point.
Are we suggesting a possible blue / green screen background? This gets better! I think it could be, that'd explain the unnecessarily complicated background for the split screen effect. I agree with Audiodead that the camera shake was added afterwards, a second or so before broadcast. So much effort has gone into this, but I guess the effect was definitely worth it.
I think you are wrong. He squeezes around the balls to avoid knocking them over. Nothing else.
I think the whole trick is done just by freezing half the screen. I believe that the camera shooting the whole thing is static. The wobble is added on separately.
Yes you would think he he would have been slightly worried about knocking them over really. I mean after all the build up and time, knocking over the balls would kind of ruin everything, especially when that podium does not look to stable.
Though when would they add on the wobble. This was broadcast live with the bbc's showing, they where also only using the bbc footage from the tv. He did don't have the time to add things like that.
This still takes work to do properly, tv editing is not magic that can be done instantly. When this was shown you could just flick between channel 4 and the bbc so the time for editing tricks is not really there.
However more importantly camera tricks like this are not part of Derren's m.o. If it was say Penn and Teller I would expect that but not here. Hell I am more willing to believe he rigged the lottery than this sort of thing.
The particular camera tricks used here can be done in real time. No problem. Split screens get used all the time at live events (Academy Awards for example - to see everyones face when they don't get the award!).
Most people don't expect DB to use camera tricks. That's why it is disappointing and has angered a number of people. But I strongly suspect DB is not what he seems. I bet he uses plants all the time.
Rog, this whole squeezing business is ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. What does him "squeezing" round the balls have to do with anything? If it was split-screened, it wouldn't have been then. They would have cut it off as he moved in towards it, perhaps he paused (if this theory is genuine) to give the person working the VT to definitely switch it off. But this squeezing, he's not using magical powers for this one, you have to actually take into consideration that this current technology
Yeh he's an illusionist. He makes us believe something which does not actually occur. Watch the movie "the illusionist" to understand how they work. The lottery is totally random, any mathemetician will tell you that you cannot predict the lottery exactly! Other than if the stuff was tampered with which is highly unlikely.

to be honest i think he's just trying not to knock them over. and does it really matter if it fake, he's entertained the nation, isn't that his job?
sarah2603 2 years ago
I can see what the uploader is getting at. he does sort of slide in behind the balls rather than just walk over.
b0rat07 2 years ago
why is it relevent that he squeezes the balls, so what?
GadgetGuy14 2 years ago
"around" the balls
clearly there is an screen there making it difficult for him to simply walk behind the balls
roger

The camera shake can be simulated in real time. It does not have to be added in post production.

i agree, i think the bobble was added to try and disguse the split screen illusion if thats what he used
but the wobble just makes it more obvious

Of course it's fake. Derren Brown will tell it's fake one day. He always fakes. That's his point. There is no magic. It's just fake.
