  • 16 dislikes here don't like "hot rod Lincolns".

  • Yes that sounds about right .I even remember some of the lyrics . ha!

  • @692ALBANNACH Yes I’ve got my home (home in my hand, home in my hand) Ooh I’ve got my home (home in my hand, home in my hand) Well I’ve got my home in my hand, Yes I’ve got my home, home in my hand. Well you know I’m travelin’ across the land, Yes I’ve got my home in my hand. Well I’ve got my home (home in my hand) Well I’ve got my home (home in my hand) (About three more sets of these lyrics, but you get the idea.)
  • @692ALBANNACH Well I got my home in my hand – travelin’ across the land, Tryin’ to earn a living, givin’[ everything I can. Slide on! Well I got my home in my hand – travelin’ across the land, Tryin’ to earn a living, givin’ everything I can. Well I got my home in my hand – travelin’ across the land, Tryin’ to earn a living, givin’ everything I can. Tryin’ to earn a living, givin’ everything I can. (Home in my hand, home in my hand) (Home in my hand, ho-o-ome in my hand)
  • @692ALBANNACH

Thumbin’ a ride to Geneva, standing in the falling rain,

Getting dirty looks, I wish I could’ve took a train.

Your friends say “Why did you leave her?” – I had to make it on my own,

Now I’m standing on the highway, tryin’ to find my way alone.

Well I got my home in my hand – travelin’ across the land,

Tryin’ to earn a living, givin’ everything I can.

It’s getting so hard to remember, it’s even harder to forget,

Well if I don’t find my way, how’m I gonna pay my debt?

  • how hot is this?!?!

  • Charlie Ryan & Johnny Bond allowed me to put this on my playlist. What's the matter w/you?

  • Johnny Cash did it better.

  • This is not the original artist, I like the original much better.

  • @692ALBANNACH I had the 45, but I don't remember what the B side was.

  • does anyone remember the b side song on the 45.rock trivia.

  • @692ALBANNACH The B side of Commander Cody’s “Hot Rod Lincoln” was called “My Home In My Hand,” according to a search on Google. Search for warriormusicplus.ecrater.

  • When I was a kid, my mom used to sing lullabies to me before bed... whenever my dad put me to bed, he'd sing this - complete with sound effects. He made it so epic...I would always hide under the covers during the part when the cops show up.

  • @CariRuth you must have an awesome dad!

  • @CariRuth cops are horrible, you knew at a young age. your dad was a genius.

  • My dad has a thing for Lincolns and this is one of his favorite songs! The oldies are gorgeous!

  • . . It's got a Lincoln motor and its really souped-up! . . That model "A" body makes it look like a Pup . . It's got 8 cylinders and uses 'em all . . Got over-drive, it just won't stall . . With a 4-barrel carb and dual-exhaust, 4-11 gears you can really get lost . . . . .

  • Thumbs up if Applejack brought you here.

  • HOT ROD LINCOL/\/

  • Comment removed

  • This is the best recorded version of Hot Rod Lincoln.

  • my dad used to fix those son of a bitches

  • Why would you ruin a great car by putting stupid flames on them?

  • We like it. Great video, great cars..

  • they're also the 14 that plan on voting for Obama again . . . !!

  • I still miss my wife's first car, not a Lincoln, a '72 Olds Cutlass 442 with dual 4 pak carb and ram air intake, Hurst spec. 4 speed shift on the floor. She had special racing tires ( a gift from Dad ) and the fastest speed I hit was 160 m.p.h. on Ocean Parkway on Long Island. That car scared me at that speed. BUT my now wife had no problem hitting 100 m.p.h. any day. God Bless American Built (pre-1980 ) !!

  • has anybody heard of hot rod nissan

  • @wolfmanbearpigguy Haha!

    Or "hot rod civic!" LOL

  • who sing the song ?

  • @willieoo This version of this song was done by Commander Cody And His Lost Planet Airmen. It came out in 1972.

  • Used to drive Mustangs when they came out first, but it's been Mercedes for the past 30 years.

Both are great, but it was fun to drive the Mustangs in Europe when they did not have them there yet..

  • San Pedro, CA and Grapevine Hill actually exist so you know this must've actually happened.

  • Those are some sexy cars

  • Your not alone,I love this video to!

  • This is a great video!!!!! I'd kill for one of those cars... Hope you guys LIKE our SKETCH COMEDY....

  • Gaga cant come close

  • Thoroughgood did a version, Jim Varney did one for the Beverly Hillbillies movie. I prefer this version, but it's not the original, that was Charlie Ryan. Ryan's version did not include the iconic guitar lick provided here by the amazing Bill Kirchen, who's still touring and highly recommended. He even signed my Telecaster. I been workin' on that lick for 25 years and I almost got it down. BR5-49 used the lick for their cover of Charlie Daniels' Uneasy Rider.

  • Anybody has more talent than lady gaga. The Commander Cody version is the finest version I have heard ever!

  • the 14 people that dislike this video is the one that got passed on the hill like they were standing still

  • @samllblockboy Careful with your language there block boy! It's "like they WAS standin' still"!

  • @samllblockboy No, the 14 people who disliked this are people whose parents have never taken the time or responsibility to expose them to the classics!!!!!

  • Just in guies a hot rod Lincoln has just run over Beiber&Gaga. What were they doing outside of San Peedro on a moonlit&stary night on Grape Vine Hill?

  • I did the same in my Berretta!

  • Try doing that one at Karaoke. Goes by pretty fast.

  • i thought george thoorogood sang this?

  • what cant you do with a model A?

  • Yeah!!! t hey don't make song like this any more

  • It doesn't happen much better than this...unless, of course, Art Garfunkel were in it!

  • My Mark VIII LSC was made for this song. That 4.6L 32 valve Intech V8 kicks butt. Now to save up for the upgrades. 1997 in Evergreen. Only 94,800 miles.

  • i love this song.

  • 13 people must have Cadillacs

  • I love this song, but it always said it was another artist.

Now I've decided to look the song up to see who actually performs it. The Wikipedia page, however, claims this version is Johnny Bond's (there's some explanation of the changed lyrics), so you may understand I'm not sure which one to believe. If anyone can help me out with this, that'd be great :).

  • @basirtje This song was done by several different artists, Comander Cody, Roger Miller, but i think the origonal version was done by Charlie Ryan

  • 'Hot Rod Kia".....I can hear it now.

  • WTF IS A1959 CADALIAC HERSE DOING IN THERE

  • what car is that on 1:40 it's so cool?!

  • 12 people are ricers

  • ummmm you are slightly mistaken. the first "hot rods" were first around slightly before world war 2 era. not world war 1. like mid to late 30's in SoCal. and then the trend really picked up by the end of world war 2. not to mention the black and white picture is in front of a backdrop. not really on an air-strip

  • @CaJunkie94 Take good care of it, dude. Have fun!

  • @joshuabrooks21 I work it to death, I use it as a paper delivery car haha... I still keep it pretty well maintained tho

  • @CaJunkie94 I'd imagine it returns the favor when it comes to gasoline. How good is it on gas?

  • @joshuabrooks21 City driving, stop and go, about 13.3.... It could use new heads tho..

  • @CaJunkie94 The good thing is, you probably don't have to remove all the sensors and so forth a lot of new cars have nowadays. I wish you a lot of luck drivin' that Hot Rod Lincoln. What city are you talking about anyway?

  • @joshuabrooks21 By city driving I mean stop and go driving.... Bradenton Florida tho if thats importent..

  • @CaJunkie94 I've never been there. I'm from the Pacific Northwest.

  • @joshuabrooks21 But at 70 I get about 26

  • @CaJunkie94 Wow! How much does your car weigh, roughly?

  • @joshuabrooks21 4200 or so..... Plus about 75 for the stereo....

  • @CaJunkie94 Oh, so it's a light-heavyweight then?

  • This song is one of the finest examples of country rap that I've ever heard. I mean, I've heard Commander Cody, Asleep at the Wheel, and Jim Varney sing this song, and they nailed it. Thanks for posting this.

  • My favorite line: "The tires are good and the brakes are fair,."

Love Commander Cody- named a cat after him.

  • Notice you never heard songs called, "Hot Rod Toyota?"

  • @1959FlashGordon Carol Shelby actually worked for Toyota for a while. He gave up too from what I heard. Somehow the Toyota motor hated the higher compression. Nissan/Datsun on the other hand had the 1000-1200 series and the Z cars.

  • @1959FlashGordon Notice you never heard songs called "Hot Rod blank" except for "Hot Rod Lincoln?"
