  • i wonder how this would work on soft wood.

  • Wow!!! I am just learning to carve small Santas for upcoming season. Am pretty new to it and have been watching yours as well as others' videos to gain some insight on how to. This piece of basswood I have been trying to carve for last two weeks is sooo hard. Tried purchasing thinner knife blade to reduce resistance, but no change. The alcohol/water solution idea sounds great. Will try it. Thank you. What knife do you use on your videos and source? Hope you recovered hurricane trauma.

  • That's great, thanks - I'll try it soon {:^)

  • im going to try it on pine that what i carve with 99% of the time. thanks gene

  • Will this work with other wood like, mahogany, spanish cedar?

  • WOOT! AWESOME!

    8th veiew!

    nice vid!

  • i learned this from arleen in carverswoodshop. i have soaked some cutouts overnight ,these pieces were 15 years old, and they cut like a rock before and after soaking, they cut lke butter.

the alcohol keeps the wood from checking or cracking. sometimes if a piece is too wet, your cut will disappear, you need to let it dry a little while and it will work better.

    thanks again glen
