  • lol 5 minutes in only 6% done maybe itl be faster once this speed goes up lol

  • 1,204 mb removed -.-

  • lol "defrag, have a coffee, defrag XD

  • 5,703 MB Removed xDDDDDD

  • Will you be making part 3?

  • @CrAcK123Cr I will be making a part 3 as soon as I can be bothered. Well, I already did make a part 3, but the audio quality was so shite I didn't upload it.

I might actually remake it today.

  • @FixThePC Ok and I just realized that I forgot to sub so I did that now :).

  • @FixThePC um are you ment to restart after disabling page file then defrag then re-enable then restart then defrag again?

  • @alvarg Yep.

  • @FixThePC dont suppose your going to make part 3?

  • @alvarg One day I will. You lot need to get me to do it xD

  • @FixThePC come on...

  • @FixThePC Hurry make the video before my computer catches fire!

  • Soooo where's part 3?

  • man you are a legend::::i grow my local disc storage from 2GB-10 GB THANK YOU VERY MUCH

  • Never defrag an SSD.

  • my time is like one day for defragging is that bad

  • @ItalianFlyGuy It's not unheard of

  • is there another way to delete temporary files?

    del /s /f /q %temp%

    :o

  • I heard something about defraging too often can be bad for the computer because the harddrive or something else will be scattered but I don't what is too often

  • Do you get the MB back

...im scared becuase it said MB deleted...

  • I deleted 3,173 MB OMFG

  • thumbs up if u think that i entered the vid cause my name is D0UI3LEA

  • i have a total of 100 mb and your stupid little defragger has used 10 mb of space and its only half way through..... if this fucks up my computer your responsible.....

  • @MadManWithMoney It does use space for tempory storage while processing. Once it's finished, you should actually see an increase in disk space.

  • @FixThePC i hope your right....

  • After dergagging the page file as you recommend,it leaves the sections of the old page file in red (fragmented) and adds a new oange set when the page file is switched back on.

After many defrags the fragmented files do not reduce.

This is on a farily new install onto a raid 0 aay.

Whats that all about as now i cant loose 5gb of fragmented files that werent there before the page file defrag pocedure of yours i followed.

  • @64bitbrain If your page file is contiguous (defragmented), you'll see a single orange/brown bar. This is Defraggler's colour for page files (which it can't defragment without turning your computer off). Red colours are other files that are fragmented.

If Defraggler isn't performing quite as well as you hoped, try alternatives such as JK Defrag or the inbuilt Windows one.

  • @FixThePC

    1.

Im aware. After following your procedure i have 6gb of fragmented files that i cant get rid of.

After defragging, turning of the page file, defragging and turning it back on, the original page file left its size in defragged files (red)

and placed a new orange set for the switched back on page file.

After repeating the process as you advise, it again turned the page file into fragmented files doubling the fragmented section and addin a new

    orange set for the pfile.

  • @FixThePC

    2.

After repeating the process as you advise, it again turned the page file into fragmented files doubling the fragmented section and addin a new

orange set for the pfile. After many many defrags those defragmented files will not leave. The page file is fine, but now i have 12% fragmentation

(over 6gb) of my new windows 7 install onto RAID 0.

  • @FixThePC

    3.

All i have installed is windows, some drivers, TuneUp Utilities and Battlefield 3.

I have used TuneUp to defrag for years and its set to auto every 3 days so i never have a fragmented system drive. Since following your guide i

now have 6gb of fragmeted files i cant get rid of. TuneUp also will not loose them for me.

  • @FixThePC

    4.

The issue is not that Defraggler is not performing aswell as i had hope, its that the process you advised has given me these 6gb (12%) of fragmented files i cant get rid of. Over 5gb of this of 1 file called hiberfil.sys which was like it before. A few other random files to. Never has my drive been so rough. Now im stuck with it unless i do a complete reinstall of windows after a format a reRAID. A full blow nightmare !!!

  • @64bitbrain Okay, one more thing you can try is to make Defraggler do a boot-time run. Then it has access to all the system files, including hiberfil.sys - the hibernation cache - and pagefile.sys. [Settings => Boot Time Defrag => Run Once]

If this does not fix your problem, maybe Defraggler isn't brilliant for RAID arrays? It's only a suggestion; any defrag utility will do the job - some better than others.

  • @64bitbrain The hiberfil.sys has nothing to do with the pagefile. It has to do with your hibernation. But you cant just delete it. There are alot of tutorials on how to delete it on youtube so go search it up! It worked fine for me!

  • @vincentsbror

Thanks, but im aware of this, what you said has nothing to do with my issue or what i mentioned. Thanks for the input though.

  • PEASE CONTINUE, VERY WELL DONE. I'M LEARNIBG A LOT FROM YOU AND APPRECIATE IT. NICE, EASY TO FOLLOW ALONG WITH TUTORING.. HURRY BACK WE ARE WAITING !

  • thank u soo muchhh i was looking for a better defrag program... got 56.6 gigs of fragmented files :P gonna take forevaaa

  • Thanks man

  • i got 14gb to defrag

  • im sorry, but i got lost from 6:00

  • 41.8gb to defrag....

  • hey man the ccleaner removal process wont exceed 0%

  • I always clean everything. I never leave any form of history on my computer. Also, try downloading a program called CCEnhancer. It adds more cleaning options to CCleaner.

  • @1118sebastian All Programs => Accessories => System Tools => Disk Defragmenter

  • instead of cleaning ur temp folder with a software

just type %temp% on run and just dlt the junk

  • I'm waiting :D

  • roflcopters, I had 14.5gb of fragmented files

  • @ZerkPureFTW That's nothing xD I once had 102GB

  • @FixThePC oh s*it thats a lot

  • @FixThePC I had 11385 MB xD

  • @FixThePC was all porn?

  • defragment messed up my hdd for real it got so messed up that it cant log on anymore so i got a new hdd and installed windows again :(

  • @yannpip Wow, that's really unlucky. I've heard about it, but I've never seen it happen. Ever.

Besides, it would probably still be recoverable somehow...

  • @FixThePC yeah dont do defrag without taking out ur virus first and make sure programs in backgroud are closed ""best way not to get hdd messed up""

  • part 3??

  • @SkyMinersPro Yeah, about Part 3... when I got this new motherboard, the microphone quality sucked so hard that I abandoned this project. I suppose once my new one comes through in a few days I'll start making them again.

  • @FixThePC Please make a part three, i think we are all waiting for the conclusion,

appreciate the time u invested in sharing your expertise!

  • Hey, if I do not complete the de-fragmentation process, does it affect the computer in anyway? (For example I stop the de-fragmentation when it is at 70%)

  • @KLEJ96 No, it won't affect it in any way.

  • @FixThePC oh, thanks

  • wat is page file?

  • @dragonode1 A page file is a temporary storage location for Windows.

  • Defragging corrupted my computer.

    ....

  • @howtocando You're the first person I know who's ever managed this xD

  • my local disk C is taking FOREVER. like it takes 5 minutes for 1 percent. is this normal? this computer is quite new.

  • @qwertyaderp Heh, yeah. Defragging can take some time. Once I had a computer so bad, it took 2 days to defrag.

You have only to blame your computer vendor for not defragging it before shipment (something I always stick to myself).

  • @FixThePC alright i defragged it overnight but when i woke up in the morning it looked the same. disk C didnt have alot of red but took a long time. disk D maybe 90% red. disk D also went to 99% fast but then took a long time from there. also thank you you are very helpful.

  • @FixThePC what does page file mean and do we have to do that page file step

  • @dragonode1 You don't have to do that step at all, but it's useful.

The page file is a temporary storage location in Windows. Keeping it as a single fragment aids the reading/writing process, so temporary data can be handled quicker.

  • @qwertyaderp This is common. Often vendors do not defragment before they ship your computer.

  • @FixThePC alright thankyou

  • my defrag in rearranging the page files so its all good mang

  • @J03Y20 Yes, if you click the 'Analyse' button, then it'll quickly scan the disk and show you the rough composition. Try and get as little red as possible.

Defragmenting does not affect your usage of the computer. It is a background task and wont stop you from using things while its running. Obviously, the less you move on he hard drive while you run, the better chance it has. This means you can stop/pause it at any time.
