I've been bowling for 10 years, and I'm a lefty, it took 4 years for somebody to say something other then good job to me b/c nobody knew what to do with a lefty. But now I hold a 200 average and love bowling. The physics are bowling are much more complex then what they make of it on here, being 1 inch off of your mark on a pro shot can make the difference of a strike and a split. If you ever get the chance to c exactly were pros throw the bowling ball (down to a tenth of an inch) its amazing.
Having a ball that has a reactive core does nothing to your game, you have to know how to throw it. I have bowled both and find that I could still kick your ass with either one!!!
Just like to say, the whole thing of hooking is not just down the the ball, beginner bowlers seem to think they can buy a ball which just hooks, that's NOT the case. You need to put revs on the ball also and release the ball a certain way, pro bowling is 100x harder than conventional bowling due t different oil patterns and oil being pushed down the lane during play, in leagues and tourneys you have to play on 2 lanes which are never the same.
Cool video, I've yet or rarely see I should say though any kinds of videos showing or recommending resin bowling balls for hook bowlers like me from the right side. As in from right hooking in, a lot of the vids I've noticed are from middle/to mid right. I'm going to check out my local shop to see what they say. There has to be a ball that suits me. I currently have a plastic/polyester ball, I'll save for spares.
You see, all of these ball tinkerings and counterweights and all that makes it impossible for someone that owns a twenty year old ball to get a descent score. So now they oil the shit out of the lanes to make up for it.
2 questions... 1 If when i try i can barely hook a ball is it because im using a regular ball that the alley owns and i dont whipe oil off of it after each bowl and 2 if the ball gets more distance b4 it hits the lane will it hook more cuz it spends less time on the oiled part of the lane?
1 - Yes it is because it is a house ball, they are not designed to hook. 2 - Actually the longer the ball is on the lane surface the longer it has to react and turn if you are using a reactive ball that is designed to hook. You should check with your proshop at your bowling center to purchase a ball that will hook and see about getting some lessons to learn how to do it.
i hate the backwards bowling guy...its dumb and looks stupid. and he'll never be better than say a 180-190 average bowler. i mean think about it if u cant see how the ball is reacting or cant see your mark how the hell are u supposed to get better
ah shut the hell up. you know you were wrong. not many people carry a 212 average including bowling backwards. pba? well, dumbshit, i don't think he's trying to get into the pba. i think bowling for him is more of a hobby. obvious shit right there.
wow. pretty simple to get u pissed off. and ur wrong lots of people carry a 212 average. in this one league in my center i can name 20+ people with higher than a 212 average. bowling is a lot easier now. if everyone went back to using urethane and plastic then u could say not many people average 212. know ur facts
I bought a ball that had so much hook on it that unless I'm throwing it through a literal puddle of oil it will go all the way across the lane and back to the same side gutter before it reaches the pins 95% of the time... lol
Uh oldschoolhummer you're wrong. They do not always new balls, one thing you have to remember is if you take care of your ball and clean it after games your ball will maintain it's awesome-ness the same as when you first bought it.
And ManiaCop, all bowling lanes are 60 feet long. From the foul line to the head pin (1).
just remember, a brand new ball will hook more than a ball that has more than 50 games on it. All pro bowlers use new balls when they bowl on tv. Thats why their balls hook on PBA shots.
not really...i dont know about the pros but i have a bowling ball that is older than i am and i can make it hook more than my strike ball...Its all in how it is drilled and how you throw.
I like the video, it answered questions that I had about the bowling balls and the difference from polyester to high performance...I play ith a urethane, hopefully I can get a reacive... yes STORM is awesome, but so is TOXIC HAMMER....
Its amazing how far bowling balls how come i love the show and this episode was my favorite out of all of them saved and added as a favorite thanks for uploading it
You know, i started watching this, and i thought the alley looked really familiar. Turns out, i bowl at that house, and i was actually practicing beside the Ronald Hickland guy today.

if I left the ball on the car for some days the ball will be broken??
robopong 2 years ago
no the heat inside the car will make the ball start sweating out the oil and no it will not affect the ball

Couldn't you give it a light rubbing with some extra fine scotch brite or 1000 grit sandpaper to re-activate the finish?
ononys 4 years ago
no, what you must do is bake the oil out of a ball and clean it off, do NOT use sandpaper, it will remofe the "roughness" of the surface of the ball

i use a storm, Tropical.. it's got a good high-end kick.. but it's a weak reaction, dependant on where you bowl it.. great for begginers!
