Republicans have the advantage though because alot more people identify as conservative than they do liberal. When Conservatives said keep the Bush tax cuts, Liberals were screaming about tax cuts for the rich being unfair and that their taxes should be increased. The effect of that? The money that the rich guys were going to spend on a new yacht, and extension on his house, and a new car put a lot of people who work in those fields out of work. Unskilled labor was in extreme demand and commanded high wages. We need to adapt to a new world, where said unskilled labor is being done in China for pennies. America has the second highest corporate taxes in the world. Lower them to 10%. No matter what the tax rates, we never collect far from 18% of GDP.

@thebeardguy71 Because 1) The housing market collapsed in September 2008 because FNMA and FHLMC backed bad loans and sold them through the financial sector. 2) The rest of the world is catching up and the fantasy land that was post WW2 America economic environment is returning to what it has been for most of human history, where people actually have to compete. 3) Other than the housing collapse, we had very good unemployment numbers under Bush.

@thebeardguy71 Businesses are taking huge profits right now because with the economic uncertainty created by the left, there is no reason to branch out in the US. Venture capital ALWAYS goes where it is treated the best, which is why China has experienced double digit growth. With Obamacare, there is a lot of uncertainty as to the cost of adding employees in the US. Plus, with the US having the second highest corporate tax rate in the world, companies are investing elsewhere.
