  • Hell yeh! Shaun Cassidy. Great song choice, guy!

  • wot a pretty cat

  • My cousins had a console like this one. At first I thought it was the common BSR changer with the Tetrad cartridge, but this is definitely better.

  • I forgot to ask you in my last comment, does the radio work and how many stations can this unit pick up, both AM and FM?

  • Right now the radio does not work. One of the buttons is broken on the control panel and it's keeping the radio from turning on

  • Great stereo. I had one very similar to this but it was much larger, I'd say about 4 or 5 foot long. Mind had a place for a reel-to-reel tape recorder, which I still have. The big stereo though quit working altogher. The radio was hard to tune, the record player didn't work right and the amplifier's right channel would pop in and out. I still have all four speakers from the unit, however the one 12" sounds like it is partially blown. Thanks for the great demonstration of the records.

  • Nice old stereo!! I perfer the "older" style with the completely mesh front and pedestal legs.

  • Fantastic -- sounds really good; that is a great cartridge and spkr system setup for sure. five *****'s bud... I like the cabinet a lot too, 'early american'? 'colonial'? I like the consoles that go to the floor; wish mine did... like my zenith TV does...

  • It's the EV 50347. Very bright sounding ceramic cartridge. The Magnavox amp does a good job of EQ'ing it for good bass and highs.

This is the Early American style and it goes almost to the floor. It does have legs but very short.

I do need to find a new cartridge because the rubber piece is mushy and the weight of the tonearm causes it to start to lose some of the sound. Either that or try to lighten the tonearm.

  • Nice addition to the laundry room! Looks and sounds good for a 35 yr. old stereo.

  • needs pilot lights for the tuner are you going to replace them?

  • It has lights, but they're very dim.

  • have they been replaced before you got the stereo?

or just old and coverd with dust?

iam sure if it needs fixing you can do that .

  • Old and covered in dust. It will need a good cleaning.

  • Wow, another great Magnavox Console Stereo. Wonderful find!! Sounds great!!

  • Cool unit ! Both Magnavox turntables I have feature 4 speeds. I Think they have VM cartridges and the sizes are preset.

  • you mean ev cartridge, right?

  • EV made cartridges for VM too I think. It's the same white cartridge with the metal bracket just like in my other Maggies.

  • also vm uses the astatic 89t as well. my 1958 westinghouse has an astatic just like the 89t, but itz an actual stereo cart.

  • Yup. Mine is 2 speed.

  • Sounds good! Does this one only have the 33 and 45 speeds?

  • what record was playing?

  • That's Rock'n'Roll by Shaun Cassidy

  • nice console! i can hear the bass kickin'. i believe the woofers has the treated clothe surrounds.

  • When I pulled the turntable out, I could see the foam enclosure for the speakers so it definitely has it. Has a nice tight kick to it.
