  • The russian Shashka as a one-sided blade, meaning all you have to do is grab it on the blunt end to avoid lacerations

  • what is the relationship between Systema Kadochnikova and Ryabko's systema?

  • this is great stuff but I don't understand about the part where he grabs the sword. If it was sharp you could not grab it unless you had heavy thick gloves

  • Not necessarily. There are examples in many of the old manuals sword arts throughout Europe where one grabs either his own (for better point control, using the sword like a short spear) or his opponent's blade (for disarms). These manuals often show bare hands. European swords were not razor-sharp, only as sharp as they needed to be, and require some sort of percussive or pulling force to cut. Besides, better to cut your hand in self-defense than be struck in the head with a killing blow.

  • Even if it was explained that way in the manual. It was mostly used when the warrior wore thick leather or chain mailed type gloves. Once you impact something the force you need to cut would be there. Mostly likely the sword would stay still and your hands would move thus cutting yourself. As long as your hand doesn't move you can grab even a sharp blade. It wasn't practical then or now without protection or a super death grip.

  • It was recorded in November 2007 in Krasnodar, Russia.

  • he is so damn good!!! where n when was this recorded??
