  • Great transitions during the video (the rotating / flipping transition effect between segments)... anyone know how he does that?

  • @gratitudelovepeace That is just the cube transition in iMovie (and Final Cut).

  • I'm trying to create loops right now but every time I save the audio out it pads it with like .02 seconds of silence... any idea on how to make the loops flawless? I have it looped perfectly in Garageband but when I play it, it hiccups ever so slightly. I've even analysed it in Soundbooth and again every time you save to mp3 it adds this space to the audio which ruins the loop. Any thoughts?

  • @woocifer Which method, exactly, are you using to export from GarageBand? You could always use Audacity to trim off the end of the loop to make it perfect.

  • @macmostvideo I use the Export Song To Disk under the mp3 compression... I've tried AAC as well and the same thing happens. I have edited the tracks in Audacity which is fine but as soon as they are saved out to other formats they are ruined with that tiny bit of silence it buffers the file with...

  • @woocifer I would export uncompressed from GarageBand. Then open in Audacity. Trim off that silence. Then export from there as .mp3.

  • @macmostvideo Yeah doesn't work because when it's compressed and run through the mp3 encoder it pads the file with that .025 seconds of silence. This is really annoying... why would one code audio compression to do that...

  • @woocifer Are you saying that Audacity does that too? I guess another factor is that usually if you create audio loops, they are uncompressed. I can't think of why you would make one as an mp3.

  • @macmostvideo Mobile application file size. It all has to do with the compression engine writing a tiny amount of space at the beginning for some form of processing in dealing with the compression it seems. This is a pain in the butt... something that COULD be 500k is now 3 meg and it's only 17 seconds long. I'm going to try and do a little audio surgery... either way this is unfortunate.

  • thanks

  • Thanks for the great video!

  • Garage band is too cheesy for me. And those loops are just as easy to make on tons of software for PC. It's beyond me why anyone would pay for an over priced machine that's actually slower than a high end PC costing less. But of course there's always the people who exaggerate and make up what they think are good reasons, which never really are in reality. I'm just glad I'm not stuck thinking I need a mac do make great music or videos.

  • can you loop music you record analog?

  • @waddupitsjonny Yes. You can loop anything in GarageBand.

  • @macmostvideo So if Im Correct Can Garbage Band Also Loop Street Fighter Songs

  • @ReimuHakureiShrine Don't know what "Street Fighter Songs" are. But if you can import it into GarageBand, then you can adjust it, trim it and loop it.

  • @macmostvideo So Your Saying itll Just Take Midis?

  • @ReimuHakureiShrine You can use some MIDI files, yes. But I was talking about audio files: aif, mp3, etc. But if you have a MIDI file, then try it.

  • @macmostvideo Were Can i Download It

  • @ReimuHakureiShrine Download what? Garageband? It comes with any new Mac. If you have an older Mac you can get it from the Apple Store as part of iLife.

  • @macmostvideo But i Have a Vista

  • @ReimuHakureiShrine GarageBand is a Mac application.

  • OKAY I HAVE EVERYTHING LOOPED...NOW MY QUESTION IS HOW CAN I MAKE THE DURATION LONGER..BECAUSE ONCE I TAKE OFF THE TOP YELLOW BAR IT ONLY LASTS A COUPLE OF SECONDS???..IS THERE A WAY YOU CAN LOOP THE REPEATING YELLOW BAR...BECAUSE IN THIS PROJECT I HAVE GOING IT WILL TAKE TOO LONG TO LOOP THE INSTRUMENTS AND SUCH...I WILL REALLY APPRECIATE SOME HELP...AND IF IT WILL HELP FOR ME TO MAKE A VIDEO SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I MEAN PLEASE TELL ME..THANK YOU..8)

  • i make my own drum loops, how do i loop it perfectly?

  • @JosephCee You just have to create them that way.

  • Thanks for the help! God bless you!

  • the first time i used garage band i selected piano now i can't switch it to Loops and it says i need to download the sound loops when i open the loop browser. Any help please?

  • @isubscribe2faggots Start a new project to get to choose a new template. Though you can simply delete the piano track and add loops to your current track for the same result. Go ahead and download the loops -- why not?

  • Well instead of doing aaaaallllll that..... why not just get logic pro 9 and "actually" make music!

  • Good instructions.

    Themusicnerd

  • I'm 10 years old and I'm like obsessed with garageband it's really good but if it is to basic for you then you should use logic pro

  • Well, maybe people hesitate a bit before spending $1000 on an audio editing program!

  • Huh, well they still look great anyway. I just need to find a HD external web cam.

  • I love my Macbook Pro 17", it's iSight camera appears to be 720p in good lighting, whatever it is it's a pretty amazing camera. Is there external iSight cameras? Anyways always wanted to use garageband, thanks!

  • I believe the iSight in your MacBook is only 640x480 -- a far cry from 720p. But 640x480 is what you want for video chatting anyway. There used to be external iSight cameras, but Apple stopped making them a while ago.

  • in your book are there iMovie tut's?

and how much is the book?

  • Certainly. There is a chapter on video and iMovie, yes. Check out all the info on the book at the MacMost web site -- just click on the picture of the book (I can't put a link in a YouTube comment). The book is $20, but usually sells at a discount at Amazon.

  • Thanks i'll probably buy it with Xmas money.

  • Thanks, you are my mac Guru man.

  • Great Video. Thank you.

  • for garageband. and how to sample real drum sound to your garageband? thank you so much!

  • You would rig up the drum set with mics as you would do for any studio recording. Then record as you would any vocal or guitar track.

  • how about,overdubbing?

  • Overdubbing where? To an existing GarageBand project? To a video? Something else?

  • Great job thanks so much. This video makes it easy to understad. Hey BTW did u get a tan or something, I think the hue is off on my mbp lol.

  • I deleted Garageband by mistake. I don't have a clue on how to get it back. I try to find a download, but all the links I find are update links.

Can anyone help me get garage band back? I'm using iMac (05) running Snow Leopard.

  • You need to get it off the iLife disk or the disks that originally came with your Mac. If you have an 05 iMac, then it came with a very old version of iLife, I would upgrade to the latest one (09) -- it is cheap and well worth it for the improvements.

  • nice video! awesome!

  • thanks ... good explanation ...... finally!

  • first! nice vid
