  • Man. I wish this Clip was aired on National T.V., that would be a good look for New York. Happy Birthday Jay Smooth.

  • yesss frank zappa

  • Upload this video again Jay Smooth. The Uncut Version this time. (Smiling)

  • If Jay Smooth wants this video to get more views, he should upload this again.

  • I LOVE YOU

  • ILLDOC NEEDS HIS OWN SHOW ON NATIONAL T.V. ON MTV YO!!

  • gotta respect this cat! he speaks reality!!!

  • I could never get enough of this video.

  • Zappa.

  • @illdoc1 I'm in love with your thoughts. If y'all like rap with depth hear Devilz-Speciez "Paradox"

  • well said if we are discussing "commercial" rap only. There are still poets out there describing their reality in a beautifuly artistic way. You just have to find them, cuz they sure as hell ain't gonna be on da radio.

  • Oprah, WHY DID YOU PUSH THE THUMBS DOWN BUTTON?! (Shaking Head "NO")

  • I know this is old, but did you ever address Oprah's part in this?

  • I love you.

  • you are awesome.

  • HIP HOP LIVES

  • I'm like the only one that watches this video everyday. That's how much I love Hip Hop.

  • Horrocore is Blood and Core Rap Lyrics. Hardcore Hip Hop got a Baseful thing going on.

  • (LAUGHING SILLY) Oh My God. I'm dying laughing from all the Criticism that Illdoc has been giving Mr. Russell Simmons. Oh My God I'm crying today. 11:24 P.M. Laughing though. Crying laughing.

  • I'm confused, in this "rant" you make light of the fairy tail of them coming from poverty and only truth that they know etc but then you defend the fairy tail in machine guns and stupid choices about TI. It seems contradictory. So is it acceptable for ppl to make stupid choices coming from poverty but unacceptable for them to talk about those choices and try to make money off it?

  • @Millertyme47 Not trying to dissect your blogs, I'm sure if I recorded my thoughts about the things that bothered me on a day to day basis I would inevitably contradict myself. I'm just wondering what you are saying?

  • I Am The Slime by Zappa was a very clever choice in the beginning there.

  • Dang..Your deep!!!! Sincerely!

  • what song was in the intro?

  • Was that Frank Zappa in the intro?

  • @FarBeyondSYL I meant the music @ 0:07 not the intro.

  • wow that was some of the realest shit ive heard in awhile!

  • man... your a beast! haha

speaking the truth in all your videos

  • Haha 1984 quote

  • Great video Jay. Still waiting for what you have to say about Oprah and hip hop :)

  • i saw a little blurb of this episode somewhere on the internet; but what made me laugh was the fact that at that point common was still using the word 'bitch' and the infamous 'n-word' on his albums, and he's also had extremely homophobic remarks. but no one called him on it, instead saying he was 'conscious'. hee hee...

once again, another good commentary, sir.

  • You always get to the core...

  • I think i love you...just a little.

  • your videos have gotten so much better

  • life they rap about..me personally i even go as far as to say NONE of them...life you said they are businessmen and are supported by more powerful businessmen and marketers that kno exactly how we think and exactly how we live and kno jus how to relate to us, but it isnt enough to kno our ideas and not look like us that wont wrk. thats wen the rapper comes in to play. so they package up everything they want to sell us in one thug "image" (rapper) at a time.all in the name of MONEY! its sad

  • i think its jus they way you play with the words and the metaphors you use to bring the situations home that makes it a joy to listen to your videos. i seem to always agree with your point of veiw as well and thats kinda rare for me. i especially like this video because you are so right. russell is only in it for the money and he'll promote this very sophisticaed "marketing plan" for embedding this lust for materials to his own ppl. and for the MOST part none of these rappers have lived the

  • "Reality flavored cheeseburger"-Yes!

  • it'd be awesome if you ever got to say this stuff on oprah :)

  • one fifty cent comin up bro

  • reality flavored cheese burger now i want a whopper

  • I was laughing so hard off of the flatliners footage....I recall those clowns.

  • Selling you reality flavored cheese burgers... Damn that's just right on...

  • oh my goodness -- you are a just a wonderful person! I am so refreshed after watching this video!

Very intelligent, I am intrigued and overjoyed that you are pushing the argument further and really challenging mainstream media. Your comment about how Oprah set it up is interesting. From the news shows I have seen on this issue, they really does put the rapper on the 'defensive.'

  • ahahah reality flavoured cheeseburgers

  • This man makes a lot of really good points. Let him have his say!

  • whit

what good points does he make?

name one.. i've watched this video 5 times and haven't caught one.

watch my video on Dr. Michael Dyson explaining a similar point to Bill Mahr.

  • your ignorance is staggering.

  • I'm done with this guys semi-high pitched, weird voice. It sounds like somethings wrong with him. I cannot overstate how annoying it is.

  • I agree hypn0.

It's not only that he sounds and looks like adam sandler.

It's that he's just as one-sided as the people he critizes. Who cares about the fuckin flat-linerz? Their albums never touched a shelf. I never heard of them.

but I guess by your logic the ''gravediggaz'' would fall in the same category right? haha..

  • way to miss the point

  • lol@.. ''russel if you're watching this''

Dogg I don't know what fuckin cave you live in. But RUSSELL isn't on YouTube digging for your videos.

and he couldn't be perfect on Oprah. Like I said about Nelly.

you're taking a situation where both of these men walked into the lion's den and sacrificied themselves for the name of hip hop knowing the editing, favoritism, and prejudice set against them.

I admire them for that alone for that it is and never will be an easy task.

  • Agreed.

  • I agree with what you're saying. However, I think that it is important to recognize that many of these artists do come from working class backgrounds. They are TAUGHT to see rap as just another business or commodity. I'm not comfortable blaming them for their often misogynistic and violent visions of America. But they are symptoms of a violent society, not the cause. I do appreciate the consciousness-raising that you are doing. You've got yourself a new subscriber. Peace.

  • This guy is a white idiot

  • Gosh, what an airtight argument. Go you.

  • Illdoctrine For President!!
