sorry i do not agree...strength is not a bad thing if you know how to use your structure correctly its more a matter of maximizing the ability to use structure rather than just pure muscular force...when you understand this then you can use strength in a very intellegent way. People have to get over this idea that tai chi is all yin with no yang, that is completely wrong.
@mdub2000 Force, not strength. Strength is 拙力. Force is the resulted force, however you created it. (You probably just get the terms wrong but right idea.)
@qiankundanuoyi1 The master in the video didn't use strength. The power he used is already purposely softened a lot compare to the real power of Taichi, which is obtained from relaxation and chi.
@mdub2000 my sifu says that if two people are equally matched in ability, the stronger will still win. But if the stronger has no training and goes up against a skilled internal martial artist, he cannot win. His own physics will be the weapon used against him.
@mdub2000 when i say "stronger" i mean the one who is able to use the most force most effectively. If both are taiji masters or otherwise equally skilled.. that's the key.
@mdub2000 and you're right! It isn't all yin. My understanding at my point in cultivation is that you move like an eel to escape. Then when this unbalances the opponent, you apply your ji.. this is the yang. I think. I am more skilled at my form (chen style) than i am at tui shou at this point. So.. don't learn anything from me.
劲在周身游走,很是不错了,但是还缺乏高层的东西!

it should be overcoming your opponent without using an ounce of strength.
