  • Can you change the handle grip? or is there an easy way to add texture?

  • yeah i guess benchmade decided it wasnt worth the $600? i dont know but its a huge price drop

  • i have the 2010 benchmade consumer catalog and this exact knife is now $165

  • @AnthonyKatana15 yea i saw that too im rly rly confused cuz jeff said its 600$ and up?

  • cockmade

  • i'm sharpening this knife right now

  • hey cl how was the lockup any play?

  • Good points about harder steels. I was dissapointed with a Spyderco delica because it chipped its point where no 440 or AUS8 knife would.

This knife is gud because of its blade to handle ratio. Most other knives with that size blade have disproportionately bulky handles.

  • wtf how is it that the harder the steel the more brittle

  • @zimbabwecornchip

It won't bend, so it'll chip. Logical.

  • @zanuha oh ok thanks yeah i have experience with it now a 440 or 420 will bend and roll but a d2 will chip

  • is it worth the 150 bucks? i couldnt find it for less...

  • @TheTobyKing Go to knifeworks They have a coupon code BR549. It will be under $110

  • Great video! you and nutnfancy are two of my favorite youtube reviewers. keep on

  • Man I couldn't concentrate on your review of the excellent BM710 D2 because you traded it for a flashlight!!! Are you kidding me? I hope you've added one to your collection - it's been over a year since this vid went up. Good job on the review!

  • I have a small collection of swiss armys, including the 09 Soldier, a few leathermans- micra, freestyle cx, new wave, and a Buck X-tract. Just ordered the 710D2... how will this compare to those knives? I can't relate to comparisons with spyderco and mircotech...

  • 710 has a much better blade... and the handle, action, etc are flawless

  • Can't choose between this or a Spyderco Paramilitary.

  • how about japanese water stones? good for hard steels?

  • Another great review!!! nice blade =)

  • Would the spyderco sharpmaker work for harder steels?

  • Yes with the ceramic or diamond stones. Sal Glesser says the ceramic is enough to sharpen s90v

  • ZDP is normally around 63Rc. Spyderco's Sharpmaker's ceramic rods rc out at 95-96 and work great for sharpening.

    Nice review.

  • hey dude lov the vids but do u have any reviews on old timers

  • have you reviewd the 940 model by benchmade? if u havent u rlly should =). but this vid was great 5/5

  • Hey jeff. I was just wondering where i can trade knives

  • Im wondering that too

  • Yea, I've had my own knives since I was 8 years old. Got my first swiss army knife back then and have kept a small collection ever since.

  • i got opinel knife when i was 5 or 6 years old but i was mature kid and wasnt all crazy like other kids so my parents trusted me...would not recomend all kids that age to have knifes!

I'm 13 now and have 2 knives(lost my first this summer, not so happy) and im starting to carry one every day!

Accidently did that one day and found out it came in handy so while i dont stab somebody i think its only good thing to carry knife!

  • one of my all-time favorite knives

  • I love this knife and it is super high quality, however I'm thinking of selling mine just becaue I don't use it that much. It is slightly too big to be a good edc for me. I want to get a benchmade barrage.

  • What steel/handle colors? I might be interested.

  • @benaroiautube it's pretty limited. There is either a black blade or a satin blade, and that's the only handle color. There are some limited editions green ones floating around out there, too.

  • Too bad he didnt measure the blade's width

  • You would be a great salesman. :D

  • I agree.

  • could you do a review on the SOG Vulcan? im trying to get one...so if you could get a hold of one it would be greatly appreciated...thanks.

  • wait nevermind...i get it now haha...oh and nice video!

  • whats a lanyard for? Is it for looks or do they actually have a purpose?

  • lol this is the only kind of knife my dad will buy (benchmade ). he jus bought a new one like... 7 months ago? its sooo nice. his old one got really worn and stuff. but yea i cant wait till i get my own. i just got some 100 dollor knife. great vid!

  • OCD is a bitch

  • So people have a better understanding of the knife in case they are thinking about buying it...same reason you woudl review anything...

  • lol people are stupid.....you review things to give a view and the aspects of the item....helps us to know if we wanna purchase it. Good video Jeff

  • Finally got a Benchmade 710 D2 steel black teflon/partially serrated...AWESOME tactical knife...J.T. OSU!!!(KARATE EXPRESSION)

  • I've been EDC'ing a 710 for the past three years, and the G-10 is a bit smooth when new. But after a few years of use, the shine gets worn off and the G-10 is a lot grippier.

  • i agree with humpingwookie

  • I suggest cutlerylover changing the topic,If I search benchmade 710,I can't find this video。

  • no, its coz he aint put the model in the tags

  • he is too cool for words

  • ino right, id take a bullet for that mofo

  • where should i get my benchmade online? newgraham?

  • Newgraham is a good place, I have used them. I have also used knifecenter and knifeworks. These latter two places have just about everything

  • how was knifeworks and knifecenter? newgraham wont have benchmade anymore so i used knifeworks. thank!

  • I only used knifecenter once and they were fine. Knifeworks actually forgot my order once, but promptly sent the item when I emailed them. Other than that, they were quick with my other orders

  • I love my axis locks. Benchmade builds one heck of a tough knife. Ya'll should buy one. Or three.

  • ouch u got that knife then give it away

  • pity you traded off one of the best BM knives!

  • I own the black coated blade version of this and really like the opening action of the blade, how it carries in the pocket, and a lanyard (w/the CountyComm cord end thank you Cutlerylover).

  • I wish i had $120 to buy a Benchmade!

  • shame you had to send it out, the 710 is one of my favorites and I cant wait to get my hands on one.

  • I'm looking for a knife just like this fully ambi. but in auto. Anything come to mind?

  • yes benchmade axis auto models...like the BM5000, fully auto, fully ambidextrous!

  • Thanks...but now I need to find a place that sells them. I don't really trust buying online.

  • I'm thinking about putting an order in for the BM580 Barrage. Since I can't get the BM 5000. You have and thoughts on it?

  • How much does this cost on the market?

  • $600 and up every where I ever saw them sold...

  • @cutlerylover 600 and up!?!??!?!? wtf

  • @cutlerylover

the prices online have been 112-150$ for what ive seen lately.

  • on the subject of the stabbing idea my benchmade vex has jimping on the bottom of the handle for that grip

  • would the spyderco triangle sharpening system be good enough to sharpen the harder steels?

  • Yes, but goes easier with diamond rods. I sharp my BM710 with lansky's crockstick.

  • OK, first, I think you have great reviews. Now, as far as sharpening these knives, get a steel, like the chefs use. A few swipes every few times you use your knife and your never going to have to use a stone on it, unless you beat the hell out of it. The steel will keep it razor sharp. As far as the Axis lock, I agree, it's great! I have a Ruckus mini, what a knife, tactical ... a little, but great grip and high quality, love Benchmade! Don't let your knife get too dull before using a steel.

  • I have to totally agree with you cutlerylover on this knife. It's a great blade but texturing on the handle sucks so much, It's too slippery . They should do more aggressive texturing like on spyderco military. However 710 cuts like hell and it stays sharp for very long. Also blade is quite long so you can do more demanding things than opening letters. One more thing, you should keep it dry if it's possible and always clean it after cutting fruits!

    Cheers&best!

  • Great review. I love my 710 but I cant get the dang thing sharp even on my sharpmaker so I think I will send it back to Benchmade. I do choke up on the flat parts of my benchmades but only for light cutting because it gives me more control, but never choke up when penatrating with the tip or phushing towads the tip in any way.

  • i want one now!

  • nice knife what was the blade called stainlees steel

  • no-D2 TOOL steel

  • If you can afford the knife why dont you just buy the light mod? Can the mod really be worth a Benchmade?

  • I didnt buy this knife, I traded for this knife, and yes the mods value is the same as this benchmade...actually a bit more when you consider shipping cost for all the parts comming from different places...

  • great review i need one

  • as a postal employee do you get free shipping?

  • nope, lol which stinks, but we do get other perks...for ym situation I cna drop off and pick up packages logn after the post ofice is closed which is good...I also happen to deliver my own mail so I can wed lout the crap before it even gets to me which is nice...lol...also if a package is lost I have a better chance at finding it than most...

  • when i grow up lol i wanna be you! cutlery lover rawks man!

  • police may see the tip of the knife as a bit aggressive i would think. Reason i say that is i've been looking for a knife a long time and a way to get it without my parents going crazy(even though i'm 19...i remember i came home with a 50ft ethernet cord to give my computer internet and they were kind of mad) but again reason i say that is i heard now there is no knife length law but that police here like to lie about that and say its a weapon.(someone in yahoo answers said something like that)

  • I got my BM 710D2 about a week and a half ago and I love it. It has to be the easiest, fastest deploying knife i have ever held. A little bit of pressure and it pops out of the handle like a dream. More pressure and ith rockets out lightning fast. I agree the G10 could be textured better though. Still, I can get a very good, very comfortable grip on the knife. It cost me around $210 Australian dollars (shipping was stupidly expensive, but it included tracking and insurance) and it was worth it.

  • I own this knife. It is a lovely design and has wonderful lines. It is also a truly ambidextrous knife. But... I discovered that it is extreme difficult to open and close while wearing a glove. And I have to wear gloves everyday at work. So it didn't remain my EDC for very long. It is nice looking though.

  • Just a question, I was wondering, because you like knives and everything, do you like swords as well or no?

  • I like all cutlery as my name implies, lol but over the eyars I sold all my cheapo swrods, if I ever got into swords again they woudl cost ALOT, I have expensive taste, lol...but yeah I like them too...I just dont currently own any...

  • what did you trade for it?

  • traded ym whiote ednura for this 710 which went back otu for a Maglite mod...

  • a think that knife is very agrasif hehe :P

  • I have had my 710 for over 8 years now. Still as strong as it was brand new. Best money I ever spent.

  • same experience on this side, i carried mine non stop for edc for 3 years now and havent had an issue yet. i have the 154cm blade, so i cant speak to the d2 but its a great knife.

  • nice review!

  • lol, yeah people have been overpaying for cookies alot lately...haha, but seriosuly I agree..I just heard on the radio a recent number for potential lay offs through 6 major companies was going to be an estimated 200,000 workers in the next 3 months...crazy, and some guy was in the news recently, he got layd off then wetn home, shot his 5 kids then his wife them himself...tragic...

  • personally I find Victorinox to be the most "people friendly" but its not always strong/convenient enough.

  • yes they are the most friednly but I was talking more so agaisnt other large folders from benchmade...not in general...

  • very nice thats the one i have been wanting lately just got a 551 grip

  • hey if you could mencin me in a vid tomarrow im turning 11 thus explaining my spelling but i suck at videos i want to get views before i make vids so you get to it or not

  • AMEN! I complain about the lanyard holes as well!

  • Oh, also another comment. I think the reason that it's sheeple-friendly is partly due to the handle design. It's a pretty flat handle that looks pretty sleek and kinda camouflages with other flat, sleek, practical things that are kinda trendy (e.g. cell phones and whatnot) and also the cross-handle lines on top and bottom (which to me, kinda remind me of a sogtec bowie) kinda make it look a little more gentlemanly than otherwise. Any type of little decoration breaks up "tactical" looks.

  • Nice knife! I recently got a 707 bk with my birthday money.. Its like this one but smaller.. Its made by the same designers too! Its a sIcK knife! I'm working on gettin a vid up too!

  • oh nice, the sequal? I think thats the 707, aluminum scales? I like the blade style on the 707 alot myself!

  • The 710 is one of the best knives benchmade has ever made. Unfortunately, its very, very large with its 3.9" blade that makes it hard to maneuver and I have to disagree with CL and say that if you whip this knife out it will scare people shitless. The size, design and blade material make this a candidate for the black class instead of its blue class classification. Because of that, I keep mine in the box.

  • wow what a great knife

    thank you .

  • wow that sucks that you have to send it away so soon.

  • I agree with you on the liner/frame lock thing with fingers being in the way, but I have one caveat. I've found that the Kershaw SpeedSafe Knives are an exception. The Ken Onion SpeedSafe designs seem really hard to get your finger nicked in the same way because the torsion bar puts resistance on closing the knife and it doesn't really snap shut at the end (at least my leek doesn't) but the torsion bar amazingly still provides inward bias without creating that snap closed at the end of the fold.

  • That's nice!

I was going to say, everyone needs to carry a knife that can cut a seat-belt, just in case.

  • cool..

How strong is the pocket clip?

  • same as most benchmade clips, strong, they dotn bedn easily but they are easy to use..unlike some others, such as cold stel which tend to be very stiff..

  • 710 is a great knife IMO. The only drawback for me is the mcHenry Williams label on the blade, I hate too much writing on a blade. It's easy enough to live with though. another thing with the harder steels that's worth mentioning is they tend to chip, instead of roll at the edge. Even hitting staples in an enveloppe has been known to cause this. great vid as always CL

  • yes good point, also in extremem cold weather they are not good at all for the same reason...but most dont use their knives in suck cold weather, or at least not often...

  • i have a few benchmades and i didnt know bout the modle # lol thanks

  • great job! i love your videos!

  • sweet
