I stumbled across your posts and I am so glad. I've been producing for awhile but I'm in the Gospel/Conscious Hip-Hop arena. I have more tracks than artist (and I know you know why) the techniques you talk about are very informative and I wanted to say thanks. Take care potna.
@jtrouptv If my stuff sounds like demos ! It must be good ! I use a mac pro so the Fruity Loops thing would be impossible ! It only Runs on PC ! Thats must be what you run !!!!!
thanks for the video! just wondering with layering your 808's what advice do you have for picking an original kick that doesnt clash with the 808 you put on top of it? that seems to be my biggest problem. sometimes the 808 sounds great...other times terrible! should i be able to make it work with any kick? thanks!
I appreciate you making this video. I still at the tip of the iceberg, and your comments were helpful. I'll be checking you out on Sundays. Thanks you for your help.

stop it man! this should be taught, in paid class room setting, lol. My homy from upstairs was just like you, getting that theory down an spoon feeding me lessons... ya'll niggas fuck people up man, that night I produced shit for 8 hours...lol, keep it movin', many people will live these lessons you droppin!
I'm the same way. I show my producer click any and everything I know. About 3 of us, and we always build like you just showed us. Really though, just 'cause you droppin these gems don't mean we'll be able to make the music you make... it's all about the individual. That's why I appreciate these tutorial vids. I use your wisdom in a whole different way, an upload my own shit, an you can learn somthing new. I'll check the site, no doubt...
And that's what it's about. I show somebody how to do something, they take it and flip it in a crazy way, and then I end up learning something new from them!
It's all about sharing the knowledge so that people don't have any excuse for making wack music!!
Sick beat man and great tutorial/beat vid! Loved the shit about the frequency levels being covered. I just got a question relating to placements...how did you build a relationship/get into contact with A&R's?
you gotta pay for that ... there are plenty a & r companies itching to rob you blind and take your money without giving you a dime... you will need to hit up producer conferences and rappers conferences to build a personal relationship with specific a r's ... if you can afford it !!! Those joints are expensive. I hope that this helps. Peace
1st off much respect for your skill level, but IMO,you shouldn't give the game away because just think of what you had to go through to attain your knowledge. Thats the problem with younger producers, they think Fruity Loops and having to wait 20 mins is paying dues. That only leads to weaker music.
Nah...I had to go thru alot to attain my knowledge, you're right. But the way I think we make music better, is to TEACH people how to make better music.
I'm more than happy to share the knowledge, if it helps other people make better music. Cuz better music helps us all.
Nice video. I really liked it. One of the producers I work with is a major Reason-head. I like the thought process and your willingness to share that..Peace JATWORLD
Love your studio and your work flow, but why do you mix it down in Cubase instead of Reason ?is it because the quality of Cubase? of you just like it more to mix your project in ?
The reason why anyone should mix in cubase, pro tools or logic pro is because you have more plugins to work with, they sound more realistic, the EQs sound much better, and gates and compressors are so much better in pro tools, logic and cubase. Oh yeah, the channels peak easily in reason.
Do you export all tracks separate in a .wav file and than import that in Cubase, or do you use Rewire. Because i see waveform instead of midi-data. Thank you for your quick replay! Nice!
I wouldn't bother with no Rewire business. Just bounce down all your stems to wav and then import them to cubase so you can master it all up and process.
I haven't studied music "theory" in the sense of taking a music theory class or anything. But I grew up playing a few different instruments, and being a trained classical singer, so that's part of what helped my ear develop. And I just posted a new video!!
I also notice that you have two computer screens so I was wondering if you use both cubase and reason separately or do you just have reason rewired into cubase?
Quick question....i noticed you have flat screens....do you get any radio frequency in your speakers cause of the flat screens...I did when i had just one...so i was wondering if there was a special brand that did not interfere with speakers
Yea i know you can get that from a cell phone too...but it was coming from the screen cause i would hear this high picthed buzzing noise...then when i turn of the screen it would go away....and i had a dell flat screen too
Thanx. I got more videos coming in the next few weeks. I'm getting an Open Labs Miko computer musical instrument, so I wanna show everybody exactly how it's going to change the game
Hey I got a question, I plan on using Reason 4.0 in order to produce my music but I also want to be able to host VST's so if I rewire Reason into FL Studio would I still be able to do all me sequencing in Reason?
kool i got cubase with sum dope boughted plugins plus my hardware also hooked on it to sequence ,i dont like reaosn or fl stocksounds but i do own a version of reason 4.0 with all the yamaha motiff & sonic dvd,s + every thing els reason has!you say you have drumkits,i got 40 gb of drumkits, and soundkits,if you ever need hollaa, btw i like your studio, music is great aswell, ever wanne sample??anyways ceep doing ya thing, peace from amsterdam!!!!and respect!
