Rookie Vegas travelers. LOL When they tell you "sold out", they're not really sold out. There are ALWAYS rooms held open, just in case. A $20 or $50 tip (on really busy days) to the check-in clerk will magically turn up one open room. If that fails, just go to the other side of I-15 and check Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and similar. There is always something available. Or a few minutes down 215 in Henderson and you'd find really nice hotels (like Green Valley Resort).

Problem is even if you book online these days you can easily get screwed. There was a supposed 3* hotel on Orbitz I stayed at that was like a homeless shelter that hadnt been cleaned in years. The booking sites dont ask for you to review the hotel if you cancel mid-stay. So the reviews on Orbitz of this dump were ok.

THe first time I went to Vegas in 1987, we drove there and arrived at about 1am. We got a great room at the Sands for 37.50 a night, high floor in the tower with a nice view of the pool. the dowling inn outside of sudbury is....

like a firm mattress this mofo was like concrete rock hard so was the pillows.

no a/c , just a cheap 20.00 fan. phone what phone ? You had to flush the toilet about 10 times to get anything down it.

The shower/ bathtub combo. was a treat the wall came out towards you so you had to stand sideways with your ass against the wall & your front against the shower curtain while water poured onto the bathroom floor !
