Maxon is more expensive, but I say fuck it. You only live once, save up, and go Maxon. True bypass, vintage sounds, and with the gain up you can get some great lead tones, and it'll boost your clean sound too.

Obviously both the Analogman and the stock model are more transparent that the Keeley which clearly colors the sound more.

The Analogman edges out the stock version because it removes some of that solid state 'fizz'

I'm sorry but if you're looking to retain the most characteristics out of the Strat then the Keely is not the way to go...

I choose the maxon and here's why...The Keeley is great but with the plus mod it is no longer a tubescreamer but something all its own. The analogman is good but but not as good as the Maxon in my opinion. So for authentic tones I would have to choose the Maxon. The Maxon is also true bypass.

Yeah I agree. Kind of subtle on here though. I didn't care for the Analogman much. I could hear the Keeley being better if you played almost strictly blues, but the Maxon had something about the way it brought out the attack that lended to it being more versitile I think.

I have the Keeley baked mod TS-9. I like it. It really brings out the tone of your guitar but at the same settings (tone) you lose a bit of warmth. So, just turn down the tone..dohh.

Maxon is the company that originally made the circuit board for the Ibanez tube screamer, but then started manufacturing high end pedals themselves.

first of all you can't make a comparison when all ts-9 pedals are hooked up in a "daisy chain"

with every pedal added your tone gets sucked up which results in poorer tone quality.

The only way to get around this is by using by pass loopers, pedal boards with built in bypass, or modifying the pedals to be bypass.

Thus making this review limited to some judgements.

Or you can individually hook up the ts-9..though that would take longer...

Actually, you can "daisy chain" the the OD-9's because they have true bypass. The signal path is unobstructed when the unit is off hence no tone suck. Just so ya know. Peace

I personally owned a robert keeley ts9 mod plus

and it is not true bypass but does have its circuit built in a way that it doesn't suck tone that much when off.

One should consider that neither of these effects are true bypass. That means, that the AnalogMan 9 is affected by the buffer in the Keeley, and the Maxon 9 is affected by both the Keeley and the AnalogMan's buffer.
