  • I like it!!!

  • Bruce - very nice sound. Jennifer Cluff's alignment seems to be working well for you. Articulation is really clean, tone quality is warm & a little airy, no shrillness at all. Very pleasing to the ear. Have fun my friend, you're sounding good. BT

  • @TwainsBlues : I was overdoing it on articulation. I should mention, I'm also working with a wonderful teacher at our local conservatory [Victoria Conservatory of Music, British Columbia] (Marsha Elliott) - looking at things like intonation, articulation, interpretation, breathing (phrasing), how to hold the flute without injuring yourself and so on. They're not letting me get away with anything! Cheers.

  • Do search on catherine legrand blogspot - aligning the flute properly - which also leads to jennifer cluff's articles on this.

  • Beautiful flute playing!! Your performences never cease to amaze me!! :D

  • @BroadwayFlutist : Many thanks. Takes a few months to get back into "classical" mode (although I still do jazz as well). Discovered I had my headjoint and footjoint misaligned the last 25 years. Align far side of blowhole in betwn the rods, - turn outwards a bit from that. Footjoint: right hand pinky should land comfortably on the B key - i.e. little knob thingy about center (longitudinal diameter) of body keys. The latter prevents hand & back injuries. Discoverd this after this recording.

  • @jazzflutist I'm a little curious about this hand and back injury thing - I nearly injured my hand trying to play with the headjoint upsidedown ...

I enjoyed this, reminded me what fun Kohler is, it's a real workout. To my ears you didn't overdo the articulation; in this kind of piece, I myself try to really accentuate the contrast between the alternating legato and staccato groups of notes . Actually, I don't think I've ever managed to do a piece like this twice the same way ..
