For anyone comparing this to Matrix: this movie was based on a short story by William Gibson, who created himself a "matrix" universe as can be read on his Sprawl Trilogy books. As a matter of fact, lots of stuff on the Matrix movie should be credited to Gibson. For starters, just check out the Neuromancer cover which features a woman whose face (and description on the book) perfectly pictures Trinity.

Just to prove who inspired who (or copied), Neuromancer was released in 1984. Do the math.

I LOVED this movie when it came out. Now that it's a bit dated it's got it's funny parts. However, I think Keanu was a good choice for the courier and I'm not just saying that since he was Neo. I'm going to have to watch it again. That and check out Neuromancer from the libray and read it again. This movie was a little ahead of it's time. Very ambitious considering that Gibson was way ahead of his time as well. And, yes, "Hit me", "I NEED A COMPUTER!" and room service are my fav quotes.:)

Is there a copy available in English? A "directors cut" perhaps? Sort of like Ridley Scott did with Blade Runner? The "Final Cut" or something?

I would LOVE it if they updated this movie like Lucas did (and really shouldn't have) with the "first" trilogy.

I also loved "Scanner Darkly" which Keanu was perfect for as well.

When this was released, my friends and I wanted to see a movie and we were deciding between this movie or Braveheart. My friends wanted Johnny and I wanted to see Braveheart.
