  • If people want to go the Jo/Sarah Jane route, I'm all for it.

  • As a huge fan of a the new series, I have to ask, are Amy (Pond) and Rory (Williams) even mentioned in this episode... Just wondering.

  • There were actually TWO companions who were named Dorothy, however you might want to spell that. The first, and always forgotten because so many of her episodes were lost: Dodo Chaplet, who was left behind in 1960's London, and who seems the likelier candidate for this reference than; Ace, of whom we do not know the cannon circumstances of when she and the Doctor parted company, so we don't even know if she was left on Earth, or when.

  • @craigtcaster I think this Dorothy is Ace because the charity she runs is called A C(haritable) E(arth)

  • The Chestertons most likely don't age because they travelled back home "home" using a method that the Doctor said would be dangerous (and the uncertainty always caused untold amount of grief until his 10th's reward) and unpredictable-they used the time machine of the Daleks-which NONE of the four people (Vicki) knew what would happen to them. This episode was the first time they were ever mentioned again WITH CERTAINTY.

  • As to what you said, about Sarah Jane and Jo Grant, getting a bit randy with one another? I agree, typical RTD storytelling, always trying to sneak a bit of homosexualesque type action in all of episodes. He really seems to love doing that, and this was no exception.

  • Well, remember now that you can't put too much stock on anything the Doctor says (in terms of controversial), because like Riversong has said, the Doctor tends to lie.

Also I thought the villains in this episode were just a tad silly. Galactic Undertakers....seriously (and they're vultures)...I dunno, could be worse I guess, but definitely could have been much better as well.

  • One thing I absolutely hated about this episode, was how quick Sarah Jane, allows Unit to see her supercomputer, Mr Smith. The show has been pretty intelligent for what it is, but I found that part to be extremely reckless and out of character. Sarah knows all too well and has stated this before that if Unit discovered her computer, that they would take it from her. But of course in this episode she's showing it to people she just meet....WTF. I didn't like that one bit!

  • I mostly agree with ur review and thought u did a good job. I gotta say tho that u said Joe and SJ are both grandmas but i dont think SJ is. U were talking bout the changes to unit since the classic UNIT. Since the new series started and i think unit properly were featured in the xmas invasion, they have always said unit is different from what it used to be and the doctor commented on this in series 4 sontaron episode. The brig also voices his dislike of new unit when he was in the SJA.

  • I think this story was the best by far and Jo was fantastic

  • The regen limit, I took to be a joke as it's like Clyde "the fan" asking all the questions we wanted to... so the Doctor just picks some big number at random that's meaningless that adds up 5 + 0 + 7 = 12.

  • This is a very good review, though I really disagree on the coffin scene. I didn't even think of that until you pointed it out. o.O I have a hard time understanding why it is a problem that they crammed themselves both in there. It doesn't have to have any yucky, slashy implications. They could have had Jo die because they didn't want to both get in there even though, with a bit of cramming, they could both fit. So basicly, I disagree on your idea of that but the rest of the review is great.

  • I relieve that this episode actually sets the basis for the 12th and "final" regeneration, first, the 507 mistake made us remember that they are closing to the limit, then it set some especulation about what might happens when the dr will die, will his companions fill it? Will the universe shake? (could silence fall (just joking)) and finally I believe that he might get a new set of regenerations with the help of some past companions (but that's just me) and that the reason they made us remembe

  • If you want to be a decent video reviewer count how many "umms" and "errs" in this and do something about it!

  • To be honest, the whole '507 regenerations' thing REALLY sounds like he's just either messing with Clyde or just wants him to shut up.

  • @Chazbot101 Just curious; what's wrong with having kids ask their parents what gay means?

  • @RoseNoir90 Most parents wouldn't want their children to know what gay means. My parents were the same until I asked them what it meant, as I heard someone my school (one the worse pupils) say it

  • @Chazbot101 Yeah it was one of RTD's typical gay references, but I don't have a real problem with it. I barely even heard it, plus what's wrong with teaching a kid what gay means? Most kids learn about it pretty early anyway...

  • @Chazbot101 What, are you homophobic or something? Why shouldn't kids learn what it means? Many many kids have gay parents now and children learn it early.

  • @Saethchan No, I'm not homophobic. I have a friend who is in fact gay and I am fine with that. I had no idea how many children nowadays know what gay means, and re-watching parts of the Eccelston era I found that Rose Tyler had said the word 'Gay'. I apologise for any misunderstanding I have made

  • @Chazbot101 Cool, just checking. The word gay doesn't have to be taboo anymore. Even for kids, it can just mean someone who is married or in love with someone of the same gender. If presented to them as normal, a part of everyday life (even as a passing mention on a TV series), then they'll grow up more accepting and there'll be a lot fewer homophobes in the world. At least, that's my dream.

  • Been looking forward to this review, I agree about 98%. I think the change in Unit illustrates the changes in attitudes and behaviours towards the UN. I think it's nice touch.I agree with 8:42 - I think it's defo somethings fans should just get over, because Dw lore is flakey to say the best, plus who wants to see only 2 more doctors or a whole episode about making some excuse about it. Plus David Tennant doc pretty much delt with this with many implications about immortality.

  • Ah but in terms of UNIT corruption you forget Yates and not once did anybody bother to tell the Doctor that 'hey there's another organisation that does our job' with regards to not Barbara and Ian Chesterton not aging the Doctor did say travelling in the sidrat could have side effects.

  • not to be a critic, but liz has aged more.... gracefully, than katy

  • @Liz is hot.

  • corruption in UNIT huh? Guess we need the Brig to come back and clean house. I want UNIT back to being Earth's protectors, not a stereotypical corrupt military group

  • Brilliant review. I can definitely see how many kids must have been sat there thinking; "Who's that? What's Aggador? Who are these names?!" lol. But yeah, this was essentially a love letter to old school Doctor Who fans and I adored it.

Ha, I should've known there'd be some femslash mentioned. XD

  • Which story is that where UNIT are pulling the TARDIS out of a ditch?

  • @SnakeOnAPlane I think that's Invasion of the Dinosaurs but it might be the Daemons. It's definately a Jon Pertwee episode, though. =)

  • Another great review mate.
