@CasperClosedBook, there's a couple of reasons for it. First being, the roads deserted, there's no one to avoid, and no one to alert. Second, and probably the largest, is when you're caught going that fast, especially on a deserted road, they want to get right up on you before they hit their lights giving you less of a chance to evade.

Go to the 37th minute and look at the small black and white screen at the bottom, the cop opens the back passenger door to take a piss. I bet his supervisor that he called told him to grow a pair and do his job and not to ever call him for that shiz again. I'm going to call it.... worst police job EVER!!! The cop should have driven them back to the dorms and tucked them in for the night.
