  • Incredible voice !!!!!

  • LOL we listened to this cooking at Perkin's... our roommate was sleeping with a 16 year old hostess, he was 27. Came home one day and seen a tricycle in the yard, and yelled 'Look his girlfriend came to visit!' . Played Dr. Hook all the time on Sunday morning's cooking.

  • @HordeFTW0666

LOL @ the tricycle! That's classic

  • onya doc u hooked me with the first song i ever heard u sing

  • ..So Damn Sweet....The Logic Of Teens....*Smiles Remembering*

  • I can't understand why people think they are gay! I believe at that time, they loved each other like brothers. Together they were the greatest performers of our time, it just such a shame they never got the recongizition they deserved, and I find it heartbreaking that they are no longer friends, almost enemies, because no matter how good they are alone, they are so much better together!

  • I preferred him with shorter hair.

  • Greeniron>>> good comparison to Cooke ;-)

  • As smooth as Sam Cooke.

  • so super cool !!! ljubav tova

  • Love it, grew up listening as I went to sleep as a kid, still know the lyrics

  • @lentil74 me too!! :)

  • All hooked up on hippy sauce!

  • This video used to have a hilarious beginning to it, where Dennis tries to give an intro of some sort to the song. Let's just say it made it even more obvious that there was some serious partaking going on!

  • They were Buddy Holly with lots of hair.

  • I love this version very much!

  • 2 people were much to young to know what good music is

  • Regardless of their sexual orientation, that had some great songs.

  • Love this tune!!!

  • supercutebutterfly 16 r 106 could listen to this...... bless

  • I listen to this song because I am only 16 :) Cool song <3

  • great oral band no kid on words in these lyiris

  • luv this....i was only 16...ughh...fitting...played it over and over

  • great song! bringing back mem's of my younger day's.

  • Chicks dig this stuff!!

  • it takes serious courage to cover a sam cooke tune.......he pulls it off.

he has a little sam in his voice......i bet he sang sam all the time as kid.

incredible how much DL changed over the years. in DR Hook's early stuff he looked like a drug crazed mad man.......very different look once they went quasi disco.

  • The guy with eye patch is Ray Sawyer, a cousin

  • This song makes me cry

  • beautiful song brings back good memories

  • this song played in my bros car as i got my first real smog an she was only 16 were ever you are

  • DH hit #6 in Billboard, 4-17-76. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Sam Cooke (writer of it).

  • Ever wonder why we don't see much of Dr. Hook anymore? The bad news: he fell in love with a 16 year old. The good news: he'll be getting out soon!

  • @Alikah1

That may make sense if Dr Hook was a person, but DR Hook is a band...so your comment is therefore a lot of peurile crap.

  • Wow. What a song. Dare anyone to listen to this and not fall in love with its brilliance

  • Best white soul singer on the planet.

  • @gttdkt Agreed! I love this guy's voice - talent and emotion!

  • @Bag0fRats Most fans who liked DR Hook in the 70's are either dead or dying of the HIV virus by now.

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK or in old folks home for homos

  • @Bag0fRats thats where alot of Huey Lewis fans reside as well.

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK Huey Lewis was a bigger homo, but these guys are pretty fuggen gay

  • Comment removed

  • @Bag0fRats A person's sexual orientation has nothing at all to do with whether or not they can sing, if they are gay like you say and it bothers you as much as you claim, then why visit this video? Freddie Mercury and Elton John are great songwriters and they are gay. So what. Some people are gay, some people are judgemental, everyone is imperfect.

  • @RickOFtheJames

Cretin: where did I say them being gay had anything to do with their singing ?

Freddie Mercury and Elton John have nothing to do with this conversation.

It's still a free world: I'll visit whatever video I want.

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK .......you sir ,are a fool and a moron !!!!

  • @BlankfrackCripledFUK and are you a homo too!

  • love all of Dr.Hook's songs, remind me of my parents... we grew up listenin to them all the time and still do. <3 them

  • im 16, this song is so amazing <3

  • Onya, Dennis. You know I love you!

  • Where they ever not sky high. But your right some nights they cud actually remmeber the words better then others. Saw them at the Oregon state fair in Salem in 75 or 76 front row. I am 50 now and still have the tingles remembering that!

  • Always knew his name was Dennis. Never knew his last name. What a group, what greta songs.

  • @omyitsvicki2 Had to comment about you not knowing Dennis's last name. IF Dennis had a last name that people would ACTUALLY pronounce, he may have been recognized for his talent. He should have chosen a stage name, like Dennis Liquor, or something. But Locorriere is completely foreign to everybody on this continent. He has completely thrown overboard the USA and speaks disparagingly on his blog. And apparently he doesn't like to be recognized for his Dr. Hook days. Strange dude.

  • Terrific voice and a very entertaining group in concert------if you got them on a night they were not sky-high. I saw one concert where he struggled with the words to most of their songs.

  • This song should be on the pedo bear videos!

  • OMG. Didn't know he has long beard! His voice is awesome.

  • Dr. Hook is so great !

  • @SeanEzra82 fuck yeah ther fan fucking tastic

  • Oh my goodness, I used to listen to this all the time as a kid. Oh i love this song.

  • We dedicated this song to my baby sister on her 16th birthday..it came out the year she turned 16, I have never forgotten it

  • pure simple easy words love that song

  • when was this concert please?

  • yes she was 16 & I was too young, but we will never be agian and still we have the memo after 10 years.---the first love

  • such an awesome tune :)

  • <3

  • what a excelant song from the 70's.

  • saw dennis live in crosby last year - he was awesome! he even hung round after to sign stuff and have pics taken. genuinly nice guy, says he doesn't watch these clips on here cos he reminds himself of his son ha ha ha!

  • You want to know what is hard? To cover a Sam Cooke song and not look like an idiot. Well, these guys did it. This is a great version. I love the steel guitar lead in. Plus the harmony is tight.

  • one person who has apparently forgotten what it was like to be 16

  • I've been a Dr Hook Groupie for 37 years. Love Dennis Locomere's voice and love all their music

  • @icsmile most definately!!!!!! : )

  • THIS IS A GREAT SONG,I CAN STILL FEEL THE EMPTINESS IN MY HEART.......THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES (ROCKETETERNALLY) TAKE CARE WHERE EVER U ARE.

  • I can't get this song out of my head. One of our cooks in Job corps is into 70's music and when i heard this song i just got to find who sang this.

  • @Kovayne - God Bless you guys and gals in Jobs Corps - you definitely help the nation - Peace to you all...

  • WOW SO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG AGO THANKS

  • LOVE Dr. HOOK!

  • Dennis Locorriere.was THE voice of Dr Hook. All their big hits had him singing lead.

Very underrated and relatively unknown name amongst music fans, which is a shame, because Dennis has a great and unique sound that I doubt anyone else could imitate.

  • @curlyeye ....Thanks for the information, That usually happened to lot of good rock groups of the seventies, where people would get familiarized with the group and not the integrants. This song brings me a lot of good memories from my childhood.

  • @ROCKETERNALLY ttuiyuiyoyokouuootoukgo

  • @ROCKETERNALLY I still have the 8 track that we played when we were little along with Jim Croce. Brings back a lot of memories.

  • @curlyeye

Music history would have been very different had this band used a different name, AND if Dennis would have used a stage name. There would have been no stopping them. . . . Names make a difference. They could have been bigger than the Beatles.

  • @curlyeye

Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show was NOT a good name for this band. It conjured up the idea of a pirate, focusing on Ray who wore the eye patch. Their best and lead singer was definitely Dennis Locorriere, who still is the best white soul singer on the planet.

  • @gttdkt the name of the band came from their love of" street medicines " they went to perform a show and didn't have an actual name and Dennis came up with it on the spot after looking at Ray, seeing the eyepatch and thinking about their love of drugs he xame up with the bands name and it stuck

  • @thesmogmankills ...and do you know who wrote a lot of their lyrics? Shel Silverstein,of "Where the Sidewalk Ends".

  • @curlyeye

How in the world did Dennis think he could make it big, when no one on this continent could pronounce his last name? Dennis Liqueur would have been nice -- would have fit his liquid voice. A defining moment – affecting music lovers for all time. (Jessejames Locorriere, are you listening? Likewise, Nicole Locorriere?)

  • @curlyeye I toltaly agree with you his voice was and still is unique

  • @curlyeye true. i've never heard a voice like his. i love his singing

  • @curlyeye I've always wondered what his name was, and thanks to you, I now know. I've loved these guys forever, and plan to be listening to them when I shuffle off this mortal coil. They're the BEST!!!

  • i have loved this song since i was knee high to a bull frog..such a great song!!! You rock Dr. Hook!!!

  • this was my mom's favorite dr.hook song which she played a lot when i was young-brings back memories.

  • Hit #6 pop, #14 AC, and #55 country in Billboard. God bless!

  • Hit #6 pop, #14 AC, and #55 country in Billboard. God bless!

  • beautiful voice

  • @Nicronon: I'm pretty sure this song was written by Sam Cooke.

  • @ReclinerBooks

Nicronon you are right Only Sixteen was written by Sam Cook in 1959. Dr Hook did a great job but Sam is the man

  • If I could sing like anyone on the planet, it would be Dennis Locorriere. This is one of my favorites of Dr. Hook. FYI, like many of Dr Hooks hits, this was written by the late poet Shel Silverstein (Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light In the Attic). Thanks for the great post. =)

  • Thanks...Love this video. Dennis is such a great Talent and has a very funny sense of humor. Great memories of the 70' :)

  • yo this clip is available to extract on that site mp4ify as mp3 or mp4 files - google mp4ify
