YES...we are still waiting...and we have been waiting for more than a YEAR now! So until the new twin-turbo M5 arrives it will continue to get slapped around by the CTS-V!
CTS-V kicks M5 ass! Look this: the first time that Cadillac resolves enter in the "SUPER SEDANS WORLD" and spanks the traditional and experienced BMW with their M5!!! hahahahahaha Good Job CADDY!!!
Cadillac is not only known because they produce beautiful, expensive, luxurious, reliable cars and trucks, but also because they haven't been afraid to leap ahead in the past and be the first to do things.
actually it's only a 5liter V10 while the CTS-V has a 6.2 liter supercharged engine so don't diss this engine, it is superb engineering... can't wait for the new M5, supposed to have a twin turbo V8 doing 600bhp and it will be lighter than the last one, so it will be probably faster than this CTS-V... and then cadillac will make an even faster CTS... and it will go on and on and we all win
Everyone keeps saying how the Cadillac is 20K cheaper but did anyone consider the BMW is an import? Say you lived in another country other than US wouldn't the Caddy cost more than 60K then?
With BMW's long history of avoiding the TEMPTATION of using the "steroids" of forced induction, the naturally aspirated Porsche GT3RS' (unofficial) Nurburgring lap time of 7:33 compared with the Turbo GT2's 7:32, and the fact the next M5 is coming out as a MY2012 giving it more time, maybe the naturally aspirated engine is not dead yet. BMW can probably still tweek the engine from WITHIN. If that's so, it's great because I'm sure we all want faster acceleration times, yet in a SMOOTHER way.
The BMW M5 was designed and engineered in 2003/04. This CTSv was released in 2009.
The E60 2003-2009 M5 is already a competitor of the 2004-2008 CTSv. To compare this old M5 to the new CTSv would be comparing it to two completely generations of CTSv.
The true competitor for this next generation CTSv will be the 2010/11 M5. AMG E-Class, RS6 and others will be coming out as well. The Porsche Panamera already demolished the CTSv with a 7:56 N'ring time. Reply to this Rodikulus. ;)

This $30K premium probably came mostly from the M5's more sophisticated engine. But the M5's naturally aspirated got beaten, so I guess BMW did everything it could to add horsepower without adding a super/turbocharger and an electric motor.
2011 M5 will have 600hp and matching torque they are going down to a v-8 with i believe two turbos so they can make more torque. and besides they already have a variety of turbo charged cars 135, 335, and the 3.5liter twin turbo charged diesel inline 6 in 4 or their cars. not to mention the x5m and x6m
i dont think they will ever go to fwd.... thats just like saying in a form of a slap to the face: "the crappiest driving machine" bmw was made for RWD.
The Cadillac CTS-V RULES!!! As much as I like the BMW M5 the CTS-V has everything in one amazing package for about half the price of the M5 or E63 AMG and it lays the whip on all of them. If I want Supercar Performance, Luxury, Quality, and value I'm buying the CTS-V.
This comparison reminds me of the Nissan GTR being compared to the Porsche 911. One has great performance numbers while the other has experience of refinment throughout the years/decades. I guess that's why the CTS driver said, "It's getting there."
Well so yeah the BMW maybe more refined an all that jazz! But I would buy a Kia is it could outperform a car that cost $20 more! Really how much refinement and luxury do you need in a car? You spend less than an hour a day in your vehicle! Cars are meant to be driven!!!
It sucks thought, cause M5 still out sells the CTS-V even if its 20K more. Hmm that tells you something. These cars aren't every day cars or for cheap people. If you can afford a CTS-V you can afford a M5. As you can see by the sales of both, M5 is still clearly on top. And now that new M5 is going to put the Cts in its spot.
Caddy built the CTS V using the M5 (a 4 year old platform) as it's benchmark...the new M5 v10TT will destroy the Caddy. Yes it "edges" the M5 now...but it took Caddy years to develop...and by 2011 it'll be done...but then GM will be too. But seriously...who would want a depreciating pimpmobile with an interior made of recycled Chinese plastic bottles? Of course the BMW costs more...
Are you f#%king joking? Show me one review in the WORLD...ie: outside of the USA that supports this absurd claim?
Have you even seen a CTSv in-person?
Try some independent thought dude...instead basing your opinion upon the subjective opinions of others. Maybe take a test-drive in both then you can opine about how the ride comparisons too...
I didn't say the CTSv couldn't handle...I said it feels like a GM (which is why you get the 30k discount...)
CTS-V is 20k cheaper because it is a hunk of general motors crap! BMW's are designed by some of the best engineers in the world. The designers at GM have been smoking crack for the last 20 years. How can you even say a gm car outperforms a BMW? stop lying to yourself
Read any automotive magazine from the last year. Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road and Track.....the CTS-V out accelerates, out brakes, and out corners the M5, not to mention posts a faster time at the Nurburgring. Sorry....check out the FACTS for yourself.
Geez final time is final time no matter how you get there! Not to mention what are you going to be doing more on the street.....cornering or accelerating?
You can't judge a car from what car magazine's say. Go out and drive the cars for yourself and you'll find out which one feels more natural. I'll bet you the BMW will stick into your mind after a test drive. Driving a car is not just about numbers. Give it a rest...
Actually most people will consult a magazine or website to narrow down their car choices then yes the will go test drive each. This is the best part about buying a new car!
I guarantee the huge acceleration you feel in the CTS-V will stick with you more!
It just did... ..we won't even mention that Hennessy fire breathing CTS with 700+hp you can catch here on the Tube. That M5 will look real good..in the Caddy's rearview mirror....LOLOL
you're a massive fanboy. theres an 07 E63 in my garage and I'm going to the cad dealer tomorrow to check this thing out. and how can he say that? well, the nurburgring time says so. the E63 has 507 6.2L and that has a 6.2L supercharged with 556. now that's what i call engineering.
I drive an E63 and test drove a CTSV yesterday. its definately faster. the only thing i have to say i dislike is the steering wheel. quit being a fanboy.
And that has to do with, what??? If anything the fact that Cadillac was able to beat the M5 on a tight budget, is even more awesome. I mean talk about enginuity, and over coming a gaint in the car world with nothing in your pocket!
it's just not possible to be all that cool in a cadillac. I like some older ones, but I only see cosmetic sales ladys and strange mustache-wearing real estate agents driving the modern cadillacs and it creeps me out a little.
Its not our fault the BMW hasn't been updated. We are just comparing 2 2009 models. And the point is that the BMW (while it may be over 5 years old) is still $20k more expensive@
I look forward to the next gen BMW.....bring it on!
The cts-v looks really bad to mee, but some of you like it and other ones don`t. The M5 looks grat. But have a look at the srt8 it is really niche but it needs the viper engine and it would be a perfect car. It would be a great car. Just one question: Why they don`t do it. I think the reason is that they are afraid they would not sell the vier srt10 and the Ram srt10 any more.
I`am a proud owner of stage 3 Audi S4 and i can say that Audi is S_H_I_T_! My friend has the CTS-V and car is sweet. Recaros are 100% better, suspension feels nice. Interior is beautiful and quiet , no wind drafts like in the Audi. And that friken Audi cost me so much more .. grrrrrrrr
I love BMW but I think caddy has them beat this time and I'll tell you why.
Styling: Both cars are beautiful inside and out. I think much if it is prefrence. The one defining feature is the recaro seats in the caddy but that aside from that I would give it a tie.
Performance (road and track): Both cars are smooth and comfortable. Both have one of the smoothest rides money can buy. Both are monsters on the track.
Nearing 12 seconds in the quarter in both cars. Overall how can you say one is better then the other. How about $20,000? The fact that Cadillac matched not only style and performance but for 20 Gs less is nothing short of amazing. Great job Cadillac keep up the good work.
What, the Cadillac ugly. Its very nicely done. The M5 is ugly. BMW F'ed their design back in the early 2000's. the previous 5 was great. They ruined it. Thank you.
M5 BEST car in its class ever built just look at the body of the ctsv it looks like its had a few to many steaks it look buckly and overweight. THE bmw looks sleek and smooth like its been on a diet
Ugly to Who....I like it! The M5 is BORING! I'd rather have the old M5 body stlye...although I do like the X6 and the old School 850. But beauty is in the eye.....
I agree. I've owned a Dinan turbo e-30 M3 and an e-34 M5. The new ones are too round for my tastes. The CTS-V looks edgy and tough. They drive superbly on and off a track. It's a good car and to me it looks great.
bmw knew their m5 is defeated, he's talking about the outdated sus. adjust, the useless lateral support bag, and looking like michael shumacher? You can get a dual clutch gearbox in a cheap car like alfa 147. And it is known to suck in the city.
Oh I absolutely love the GTR....I think it is the ultimate car. The GT GTR V-Spec beat the Corvette ZR-1 around the RING by 1.4 seconds....I looked it up! But the question is how much will the V-Spec cost?
dude your kidding, right? it wont be sold int the states. Well, first off, don't expect any more power, at least according to Nissan. Contrary to the rumored 520hp we'd all hoped for, the plan is to stick with the 478hp twin-turbo'd V6 from the regular GT-R, and instead focus on weight and suspension tweaks.
Uh...What? Of course the V-Spec will have more power! And is will be lighter! And it will be a 2 seater. And it will come to the U.S. Hopefully! All Nissan V-Spec Cars have a BUMP in HP!
It took the M5 30K more to lose. If there is one thing the American car companies can build just as good as anyone, it's fast cars. If it wasn't fast enough for you, Hennessey offers a V650 package, engine output is 650 hp 641 lb-ft,1/4 mile 11.45@124mph. The V700 CTS-V produces 700 hp 701 lb-ft. This allows the car to rip from 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. Hennessy also offers a V800 package that has a ZR-1 engine that produces 800 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque:)
Those Germans! 5 ltr V 10 naturally aspirated, vs supercharged 6.3 l and the m5 is right with the cts, now thats engeneering. seems everything those Germans make has pride behind it. check out their air rifles/pistols..
you call supercharged engine engineering? look at it engine with forced induction sucks itonly means they lack power so they put turbo or supercharger in their engine m5's engine is better than the lsa engine of the cts which doesnt impress me a lot
Yep definantley the last V10. I dont think with the new F1 regulations dropping to V8 that BMW will make a V10, which is supported by the X5M & X6M which have F1 derived V8s as apposed to the previous F1 derived V10, also I seriously daught that BMW will opt for a V10 Twin Turbo for the new M5
what the hell are you talking about, bmw's planning on rolling out a twin-turbo m5 next year to take on the rs6. so only when bmw does it, it's considered as engineering?
There is "speculation" about the V-10 Getting Twin Turbos.....or some say it will get 5.5 liters displacement instead of 5 liters...then I read the M5 will get both. So hmmm....adding .5 liters and 2 turbos will only increase HP to 550? They could slap Twin Turbos on the V-8 and get over 600 HP very easily.
LOL the new M5 will have twin turbos either on a V8 or a V10, also in their current range you have cars like the 335i, 635d, X5M, X6M all use twin turbos which is forced induction, as do other great cars like Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Jaguar, Nissan, Koenigsegg, Noble
read up on how turbo's and superchargers actually work with an engine and then tell me they are a lack of engineering. Plus you can't just "slap on a turbo" to any "shitty engine that lacks power". Engines are tuned for forced induction. ANYONE that says you don't have to is a poor tuner, end of story. There's a lot more to engineering a quality sports car than just throwing forced induction on it. That's why you hear about all these high schoolers with civics blowing their engines.
the other driver couldn't even talk about the feel of the car because it was just shit, he just craps on about how the suspension grips the road that not driving experience
without the M5(original idea of super saloon) there would be no Cts v or anything else in the same class..the next generation of M5 will crush its competitors and will be 5 years ahead of the game..expect others to follow its leading edge technology.

Every review I see about the M5 is a good one. I just watched the Top Gear review and the Super Cars Exposed review. They rave about the M5....the M button the side bolsters in the seats. Everything. Heck I would trade my Kia in for an m5 any day. But for 35k less I could have a car that will destroy everything on the road (except for its big brother).
I had the M5 V-10 and couldn't of been more disappointed in a car. The m-tronic shifting was terrible, it would downshift automatically around corners and you could never get the engine into the right power band.
How many power bands do they come with!? If the car was downshifting while you had it in performance mode and you were attempting to shift yourself, you weren't close to an optimal RPM range for acceleration.
HAHAHA!!! there is no such thing as an "m-tronic" gear box in the m5! Its called SMG and if you really had one, you would know that for sure! And what you say about automatic downshifts is totally nonsens as well. I own 2007 m5 for 2 years now and never had this problem, neither I heard from anybody such things!
we all knows there is a SMG system on BMW but he meant by m tronic the gear system on the BMW M models ( M3 M5 M6 ) cause u can't find this on all bmw's use ur mind just a lil bit =D
The Caddy badge is better than ever. 2008 Motor Trend car of the Year!!!!! 2009 JD Powers Top list of Reliable cars!!!! Cadillac is at the top of its game.
Cadillac is pure yellow jacket pimp hat hooker cars made for sugar daddies with illegal intentions. GM builds crap. Hope the go under soon. Wait, they already are. Cadi means gangbanger welfare crap.
ok... someone please tell me: my parents have a 99 Lexus LS400 and a 2003 GX470 and i think they are nice... i don't know much about cars but why does everyone hate Lexus?
Everyone loves Lexus...they are made by Toyota and are great, quality vehicles. Perfect for your parents.....but the CTS-V and M5 are pure sports cars wrapped in a luxury car body!
Nobody hates Toyota or (Lexus) as you would call them. They just dont have what it takes when it comes down to extreeme performance, one thing I must admit, that ISF is sick. not bad for a Toyota Lexus!
Both are very nice cars! its just most of the people that actually spend the time to check out auto related videos, arent in the same demographic as lexus drivers. My father owned a lexus gs430 and before i purchased my 335i, i ddint understand either. When you drive the car normaly down the street, its hard to tell, but when you drive them hard, the lexus starts feeling to under-damped, much less controll and the brakes usually fade after several hard stops. but for everyday, lexus isgood.
2009 Audi RS6 V10, will definately take on the CTS-V.. Thats what BMW set their goals to defeat was the new 560HP RS6.. BMW never saw their CTS-V as a direct competitor, and even with this new CTS-V, BMW still doesnt see it as a direct compeitior. But either way, these are both amazing vehicles. Let people choose their car. All I know is that BMW continues to out sell its competitors and out perform its competitors.
I'm looked at the new RS6 and it looked ok to me...where do you see the pictures with the horrible grill? But ripped off...yes. How much more will it cost? $30k! But it has more horsepower...they will say. Yeah all the CTS-V needs is an ECU reflash, smaller supercharger pulley's, and new injectors and it will be pushing 700hp!
i don't think the cts-v will sell very good in europe, because of the depreceation, and the styling. the caddy looks like it's been designed with a ruler. it might be good but still not as well made and engineered like bmw m, or an amg mercedes.
Well the Caddy was designed by Americans for Americans....yes its appearence is very LOAD! Europeans do like the refined look. Also most poepl stay loyal to their region so of course a German car will sell better in Europe.
As far as depreciation goes....the depreciate at the same rate but since you pay over 25k more for the BMW...you will lose more.
Oh yeah I agree with you completely. I was commenting on the "loud look". It's really not "loud" like say, that HUGE AND UGLY AUDI GRILL, but rather, has more "flare" than a Deutsche Wagon
Did you see the Top Gear recently where they tested the CTS-V. The guy remarked how is was totally American in its looks and most Europeans would not buy such a shocking car.
Yup totally...but we here in America have missed out on so many good cars....The Honda tpye-r series....the Skyline series...Ford Mondeo and Focus GT......all these cars are bad a** but you wont see them over here!
I hate the design of the CTS, sharp lines are just me. Its a fact of mixed opions though.. Many people like the design of the M5 and hate the CTS and vise-versa.. But, the current M5 is imo the best M5

The fact that the BMW is an import has nothing to do with the MSRP. This might raise the price slightly but maybe by $1k at the most.

1k? Lol. Look up the MSRP of BMWs in other countries.

$30k more thousand for a "more sophisticated" engine? I would rather pay much less for a 4-banger with a turbo if it puts down the same numbers.
I said it a year ago and I will say it again...the BMW V-10 engine is dead and the next generation will have a V-8 turbo.
JazelAuto1 2 years ago 3
Nope. I dont make BMWs but I know for a fact they wont make an M5 turbo.
Or M3, and M6
They are possibly thinking about turboing cars such as 1 series and 3 series (4 cyclinder turbo charged and possible fwd)
If so, BMW will have no name and will be looked as bad as people look at Audis

Caddy built the CTS V using the M5 (a 4 year old platform) as it's benchmark...the new M5 v10TT will destroy the Caddy. Yes it "edges" the M5 now...but it took Caddy years to develop...and by 2011 it'll be done...but then GM will be too. But seriously...who would want a depreciating pimpmobile with an interior made of recycled Chinese plastic bottles? Of course the BMW costs more...
ronmeister1 2 years ago
you are absolutely right man
checkie4ever 2 years ago
Umm... what? The CTS interior is world class, shut your damn mouth and actually read the reviews.
Also, the CTS-V just won a Kelly Blue Book Best Resale Value award, "depreciating" my ass.
PDC1987 2 years ago 3
PDC1987: "interior is world class"
Are you f#%king joking? Show me one review in the WORLD...ie: outside of the USA that supports this absurd claim?
Have you even seen a CTSv in-person?
Try some independent thought dude...instead basing your opinion upon the subjective opinions of others. Maybe take a test-drive in both then you can opine about how the ride comparisons too...
I didn't say the CTSv couldn't handle...I said it feels like a GM (which is why you get the 30k discount...)
ronmeister1 2 years ago
PS: how do you establish a baseline resale value for a 2009 automobile WHILE YOU'RE STILL IN 2009?
You're not even remotely comparing apples to apples - oddly though you'll find WAY MORE new CTSvs for sale than M5s.
ronmeister1 2 years ago
sorry but even comparing a cadillac to a bmw is just plain insulting to bmw
silenttriggerman 2 years ago
I'll tell you what's insulting...a CTS-V is $20k cheaper and will out perform an M5 in pretty much every way performance wise. That really must hurt!
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
CTS-V is 20k cheaper because it is a hunk of general motors crap! BMW's are designed by some of the best engineers in the world. The designers at GM have been smoking crack for the last 20 years. How can you even say a gm car outperforms a BMW? stop lying to yourself
silenttriggerman 2 years ago
Read any automotive magazine from the last year. Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road and Track.....the CTS-V out accelerates, out brakes, and out corners the M5, not to mention posts a faster time at the Nurburgring. Sorry....check out the FACTS for yourself.
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
lulz "out corners"
the time difference on the track proves m5 handling is far superior to the cts-v, which is only made up for by a significant difference in horsepower
liberosveritas 2 years ago
Geez final time is final time no matter how you get there! Not to mention what are you going to be doing more on the street.....cornering or accelerating?
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
You can't judge a car from what car magazine's say. Go out and drive the cars for yourself and you'll find out which one feels more natural. I'll bet you the BMW will stick into your mind after a test drive. Driving a car is not just about numbers. Give it a rest...
thelittleflowerpower 2 years ago
Actually most people will consult a magazine or website to narrow down their car choices then yes the will go test drive each. This is the best part about buying a new car!
I guarantee the huge acceleration you feel in the CTS-V will stick with you more!
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
It just did... ..we won't even mention that Hennessy fire breathing CTS with 700+hp you can catch here on the Tube. That M5 will look real good..in the Caddy's rearview mirror....LOLOL

you're a massive fanboy. theres an 07 E63 in my garage and I'm going to the cad dealer tomorrow to check this thing out. and how can he say that? well, the nurburgring time says so. the E63 has 507 6.2L and that has a 6.2L supercharged with 556. now that's what i call engineering.

Very true that Lexus has been atop the JD Powers list for most reliable car. But recently Cadillac has also won many awards for reliability.
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
Then, this should mean GM should be able to pay back the loans it owes the taxpayer pretty easily.
unknownunknowns 2 years ago
And that has to do with, what??? If anything the fact that Cadillac was able to beat the M5 on a tight budget, is even more awesome. I mean talk about enginuity, and over coming a gaint in the car world with nothing in your pocket!

The M5 is from 2004. This car is from 2009.
The M5 built in 2004 is still the same 2009 M5 you see today.
To be fair you need to compare cars of the same generation.
The 2004-2009 M5 competes with the 2003-2008 CTSv. The M5 dominated that time frame.
The next M5 that will compete with this CTSv will be released in 2010/11. So far the next M5 is looking at 600+hp.
It will dominate the next generation as it dominated the previous. Try again haters. ;)
djinnbladex 2 years ago
Its not our fault the BMW hasn't been updated. We are just comparing 2 2009 models. And the point is that the BMW (while it may be over 5 years old) is still $20k more expensive@
I look forward to the next gen BMW.....bring it on!
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
The cts-v looks really bad to mee, but some of you like it and other ones don`t. The M5 looks grat. But have a look at the srt8 it is really niche but it needs the viper engine and it would be a perfect car. It would be a great car. Just one question: Why they don`t do it. I think the reason is that they are afraid they would not sell the vier srt10 and the Ram srt10 any more.

I just think it's funny how this video is about Cadillac vs. BMW... and people are still talking about the GTR... Nissan power all the way!
OneOfaKind949 2 years ago
I love BMW but I think caddy has them beat this time and I'll tell you why.
Styling: Both cars are beautiful inside and out. I think much if it is prefrence. The one defining feature is the recaro seats in the caddy but that aside from that I would give it a tie.
Performance (road and track): Both cars are smooth and comfortable. Both have one of the smoothest rides money can buy. Both are monsters on the track.
shiznizzlestik 2 years ago
Nearing 12 seconds in the quarter in both cars. Overall how can you say one is better then the other. How about $20,000? The fact that Cadillac matched not only style and performance but for 20 Gs less is nothing short of amazing. Great job Cadillac keep up the good work.
shiznizzlestik 2 years ago
What, the Cadillac ugly. Its very nicely done. The M5 is ugly. BMW F'ed their design back in the early 2000's. the previous 5 was great. They ruined it. Thank you.

I agree. I've owned a Dinan turbo e-30 M3 and an e-34 M5. The new ones are too round for my tastes. The CTS-V looks edgy and tough. They drive superbly on and off a track. It's a good car and to me it looks great.

d1gps15 2 years ago
dude your kidding, right? it wont be sold int the states. Well, first off, don't expect any more power, at least according to Nissan. Contrary to the rumored 520hp we'd all hoped for, the plan is to stick with the 478hp twin-turbo'd V6 from the regular GT-R, and instead focus on weight and suspension tweaks.

The IS-F is nothing special....it cannot even beat an M3. The IS-F is slower in every way unfortunately.
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
you don't know which one i talking about IS-F not the Street Racing the one.. also what about an and LF-A ?
d1gps15 2 years ago
Ok here are the stats according to Motor Trend on the IS-F & CTS-V
0-60 acceleration | IS-F 4.7 sec | CTS-V 4.1 sec
60-0 braking | IS-F 106 ft | CTS-V 105 ft
Grip | IS-F 0.91G | CTS-V 0.92G
Nurburgring | IS-F 8:18 | CTS-V 7.99 | (wikipedia)
so the CTS-V is faster, brakes better, turns better, and kills on the track.
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
I heard that the IS-F has the worse handling car....
The car is heavy...
haziqdaF1fanatic 2 years ago
It took the M5 30K more to lose. If there is one thing the American car companies can build just as good as anyone, it's fast cars. If it wasn't fast enough for you, Hennessey offers a V650 package, engine output is 650 hp 641 lb-ft,1/4 mile 11.45@124mph. The V700 CTS-V produces 700 hp 701 lb-ft. This allows the car to rip from 0-60 in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. Hennessy also offers a V800 package that has a ZR-1 engine that produces 800 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque:)
ripper3200 2 years ago
both cars are great...but id opt for a cts-v simply because of the styling i find BMW far too conservative
ISinisterI 2 years ago
Those Germans! 5 ltr V 10 naturally aspirated, vs supercharged 6.3 l and the m5 is right with the cts, now thats engeneering. seems everything those Germans make has pride behind it. check out their air rifles/pistols..
missionron 2 years ago
you call supercharged engine engineering? look at it engine with forced induction sucks itonly means they lack power so they put turbo or supercharger in their engine m5's engine is better than the lsa engine of the cts which doesnt impress me a lot
gagopj 2 years ago
Forced induction is the Future....look at the 335i...twin turbo's. I bet this will be the last V-10 engine BMW produces
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
Yep definantley the last V10. I dont think with the new F1 regulations dropping to V8 that BMW will make a V10, which is supported by the X5M & X6M which have F1 derived V8s as apposed to the previous F1 derived V10, also I seriously daught that BMW will opt for a V10 Twin Turbo for the new M5
t6658 2 years ago
what the hell are you talking about, bmw's planning on rolling out a twin-turbo m5 next year to take on the rs6. so only when bmw does it, it's considered as engineering?
ExileXCross 2 years ago 2
There is "speculation" about the V-10 Getting Twin Turbos.....or some say it will get 5.5 liters displacement instead of 5 liters...then I read the M5 will get both. So hmmm....adding .5 liters and 2 turbos will only increase HP to 550? They could slap Twin Turbos on the V-8 and get over 600 HP very easily.
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
LOL the new M5 will have twin turbos either on a V8 or a V10, also in their current range you have cars like the 335i, 635d, X5M, X6M all use twin turbos which is forced induction, as do other great cars like Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Jaguar, Nissan, Koenigsegg, Noble
t6658 2 years ago
read up on how turbo's and superchargers actually work with an engine and then tell me they are a lack of engineering.

JazelAuto1 2 years ago
I had the M5 V-10 and couldn't of been more disappointed in a car. The m-tronic shifting was terrible, it would downshift automatically around corners and you could never get the engine into the right power band.
mathiastheok 2 years ago
How many power bands do they come with!? If the car was downshifting while you had it in performance mode and you were attempting to shift yourself, you weren't close to an optimal RPM range for acceleration.

All I know is that BMW continues to out sell its competitors and out perform its competitors.

but man, if I bought that RS6 (with the hideous grill), I would feel RIPPED OFF! Holy schmoly.
maestroadam 2 years ago
I'm looked at the new RS6 and it looked ok to me...where do you see the pictures with the horrible grill? But ripped off...yes. How much more will it cost? $30k! But it has more horsepower...they will say. Yeah all the CTS-V needs is an ECU reflash, smaller supercharger pulley's, and new injectors and it will be pushing 700hp!
JazelAuto1 2 years ago
i don't think the cts-v will sell very good in europe, because of the depreceation, and the styling. the caddy looks like it's been designed with a ruler. it might be good but still not as well made and engineered like bmw m, or an amg mercedes.
51mh8889 2 years ago
Well the Caddy was designed by Americans for Americans....yes its appearence is very LOAD! Europeans do like the refined look. Also most poepl stay loyal to their region so of course a German car will sell better in Europe.
As far as depreciation goes....the depreciate at the same rate but since you pay over 25k more for the BMW...you will lose more.
