  • So, so similar to Houston...same period, same look, errily similar vocals. Just makes you wonder what twist of fate may have granted Moten the career Whitney was given. And, how she would have handled the situation. Brilliant composition sung by a truly anointed vocalist.

  • I feel like I'm in Grade 3 listening to this. Around that time it came out.

  • man, i miss these kinds of songs

  • great song, great vocal !, im surprised no one on the x factor has ever got hold of this song, surprised but thankful !

  • also check out "whatever you imagine"- from pagemaster sdtk a lot of people thought it was whitney, but its wendy

  • whitney was the competition...that pretty much says what happened to her career....

  • Great vocals!

  • I always liked this song, and Wendy Moten is clearly a fantastic singer, so I assumed she didn't have a career because she didn't have a marketable look, but now I see that she's also beautiful! What happened, indeed?

  • what ever happened to Wendy????? she can sing

  • wach again and again..

    gak bosen bosen.

  • why haven't we heard about her so many years now???i always wondered why this fantastic voice didn't have a great career..

  • i like it

  • love this ..... so soulful!

  • @redsky08 shut the hell up

  • Thanks for shearing, I've never heard of her before, she is a REAL SINGER !

  • Wendy wasn't part of the norm. She actually LIKED to sing her r's after vowel sounds.

  • One of all time favourite songs

  • I love this song - so cool and just pure romance Ah if only artists these days can like this

  • @passionboutmusic agreed. wendy can belt higher and hit higher notes in head voice but there's so much more to singing than that. there's resonance, vibrato, power, musicianship, versatility, and passion. wendy can't match whitney in ANY of those aspects so her fans better think twice before they shade whitney.

  • @kelvinpyaeko there's really no reason to have that kind of attitude towards an iconic singer like whitney. i guess wendy is whitney's shanice. except unlike shanice, wendy is actual competition for the legend her fans hate the most. but she still loses :)

  • Okay...clearly she is not better than Whitney Houston... she may be able to hit the same notes but definately not able to hold them with the same quality of vibrato

  • wow! i remember this song from WAYYYYYh BACK! I always thougt it was Whitney Houston but nope!

  • Epic!

  • amazing!

  • black artist is much better than white...

  • The best female vocal by far. Made the song looked easy to sing. What a voice! :)

  • This song is sooooooooo beautiful

  • I bought this on 7" vinyl in 1993, and I agree with Rorski1 - so underrated it's unbelievable.

I spoke to so many people at the time about this song, but nobody knew it !!

NO EXCUSE Steve Wright was playing it all the time at that point.

Just goes to show how the sheep mentality of the record (song) buying public was then...which is ten times worse now.

    Help!!!

  • Outstanding Vocals!!!

  • I use to love this song back in the day.......the early to mid 90's was the greatest time for music. Brings back so many great memories "the high school years". Damn did I just tell my age....lol

  • Wendy i love you so much...you talk directly to my brain cells...

    i really don't

believe the perfection of her voice, performance and passion.

    at 3.18....top best ever !

  • Who can belt out like this while just merely sitting, huh? Effortless!

  • WENDY MOTEN... wow!!! whata song. ah ito pala ang ginagaya nila.... hay naku mahirap gayahin ang original. This is the best ever ! She's GREAT!!!! FANTABULOUS!!!!

  • ah ito pala ang gingaya nila.... hay naku mahirap gayahin ang original. This is the best ever ! She's GREAT!!!! FANTABULOUS!!!!

  • to be honest, I really didn't know that there's a Wendy Moten who rendered this epic song.... what an artist!!!! D best!!!! she's really very good. Ito pala ang ginagaya... hay naku mahirap gayahin ang original.

  • if she is this talented and pretty, why isn't she the biggest star?

    i don't get it...

  • Amazing her voice!

  • lots of filipino know this song!!! hahaha

  • This was a great song, i remember the album being absolutely dreadful, was such a shame,

  • @1welshdevil You are nuts! Her album was incredible!

  • @Doveman21 oooh im sorry i thought it was very poor, i loved this and so close to love, but the rest of it was really bad :-(

  • lovely.........

  • great song great voice one of my favs

  • O my God I found it!!!WOW!I really love this song! What a Vocals...!!!You dont have to understand what she say...singing about...,but you got the love for sure!

  • An epically beautiful song like this needs an epically beautiful voice. She has such a rich, powerful voice, and the way it keens and soars over that gorgeous mix of strings/piano/bass/drums, it breaks your heart over and over again.

  • WOW. Again, WOW. Heard this and never will forget it.

  • I really love this song!! Wendy, you are so good!!

  • i really love the original version of this song...

    wonderful & powerful voice...

  • this song by WM is, up to now, 2011, still very very popular song in the philippines, and always been sang by popular singers in most shows every now and then...trouble is, nobody here knows that it's a WM original. Sad.

  • i just don't understand how this song and singer did not top the charts; very strange!

  • One of the best solo performances I have ever heard.

  • Simply fantastic! Wendy is truly "The Voice!" What a talent!!! This is as flawless vocal performance as I've ever heard:)

  • OMG...I found it!

I remember always singing this when I was younger but I could not remember who sang it. Yay!

  • haha my last name is moten lol

  • I can't think of a better female vocal performance. I really can't. Whitney, Mariah, you name it...this is just as good if not better. I also love Sheena Easton's vocal on "You Could Have Been With Me". Both performers sound just as good "live" as on the record. It proves just how talented they both really are. I just can't stand all the auto-tune that so many performers use today. It's because they can't really sing very well. This is the age of the fast talker. Rappers. Paid to talk! Duh?

  • Cool song when you are under a spell

  • this song is so special to me....my ex used to play it all the time....what good memories it brings!!!!

  • This song rocks--Thanks again for posting.

  • thanks, Wendy!!! I love your song and you are one true talent.

  • Absolutely beautiful voice, thanks wendy!!! brava!!

  • Always LOVED this song. I can't even count the times I called the radio station in the 90s to request it. So beautiful!

  • ku terkenang pada suatu tempat dan peristiwa,...

  • where in gayhell is ms moten?

one of the best songs ever made and she is anotha diva w a voice that never got her just due....i love u wendy

  • stunning song.......

she should have made it far if there was a chance to begin with.......

    devoted fan of the 90s!!!!.....

  • best love song ever. every time I listen to it i drop a tear

  • she should have made it big with her enormous talent... really amazing...

  • Perhaps the similarity of her voice to Whitney's is what kept her from becoming a star.

From the time of release to today I always assumed it was Witney's song.

    Nevertheless - amazing song!

  • Heard this song on the radio yesterday for the first time in years. What a voice! Beautiful song also. How Wendy didn't go stratospheric I will never know. She could give any of today's so-called stars a good run for their money.

  • @Belmullet976 Well said...she's definitely one of the most underrated vocals in the 90's

  • One of my most favourite songs ever. I remember it being all over the radio but I could never find it in record shops. Recently found a 'Love' compilation CD it was on and I was literally shaking paying for it cos' I was so happy!!!

  • @mintysilver Lol, awee.

  • I remember this; 1993 I was about 11 or 12. WM had a great voice and only 18! She was tipped to be the next Whitney..which is one of those predictions that ends up being a poisoned chalice. Very few careers fulfill the promise. It's a shame she was a one hit wonder. I always wondered if it was an image thing?

  • Awesome voice.... great song... heard it on the radio yesterday. its must have been a good decade since I last heard it....

  • Simply Stunning. I was living in South Africa when this song was released. I never heard it on our radio stations back then. Dont think it was released there. I heard this song for the first time yesterday and checked out google/wiki etc and discovered more about the singer and tune. Beautiful. Going to look for the CD on the weekend.

  • Heard this on the radio today for the first time, had to google who sang it, what a voice! Kept thinking it was Whitney singing, so many similarities in their voices!

  • i love this song so much <3 <3 <3

  • Beautiful! :)

  • I'm a big fan of Wendy Moten and this song is the reason I fell in love with her.

One of the most underrated and timeless songs of the1990's. I love this song and Wendy Moten's brilliant powerhouse vocals on this song this is a forgotten gem from the 90's.

  • What a voice! Wendy nailed this song! I remember buying this single and placing it Heavy rotation because I loved it so much. Still do.

If Her voice was the barometer upon which TALENT is measured...50% of today's 'Singers' would be out of work. Seriously.

Where r u Wendy? We need you:)

  • gosh its beautiful. the song is great, she did it justice. tops.

  • What a great song! She has such a smooth voice.

  • Beautiful....i used to dig this joint as a kid

  • what a shame such a beautiful voice got lost in the shuffle of musics politics!i remember buying this in high school lol

  • Man this song brings back memories. I love it. She nailed it.

  • @iphonejag OLD SCHOOL MEMORIES NOW I NEED A STIFF DRINK!

  • What a talent! One of these days we'll get back to great music again!

  • @kiki1965 I HOPE SO

  • @kiki1965 I HOPE SO

  • This is easily one of the best vocals and one of the greatest soul ballads of all time. Unbelievable that Ms Moten is as unsung a hero as she is.

  • THIS IS TALENT!!!

  • Overlooked indeed; I recall this being her only top 10 hit. But then quality singers were literally everywhere in the late 80s and early 90s. I've been viewing old vocal ballads from some of the greats of that era - Dina Carroll, Beverley Craven, Whitney and Celine - and wondering where they all went. Would we even know if someone capable of this sort of performance was emerging today, with music TV & radio flooded with manufactured 'acts' who consider talking over a beat (AKA rapping) a talent?

  • @richedwards79 mate your spot on there, truth is' money speaks , producers talk and people get famous, but a few of them people you mention hugely deserve fame

  • Ms. Moten is definitely an underrated talent. Check out her cover of Stevie Wonder's, "All I Do". Iit is on Kirk Whalum's For You cd.

    An absolutely fabulous song.

  • Doesn't get any better, PERIOD !

  • she sounds better than whitney but only has a fraction of fame.....not fair

  • @moomintroll1963 she is amazing , has a wonderful voice but i wouldnt go that far

  • Agreed. It's ONE song. Hell Tamia singing You Put a Move on My Heart is up there with anything Whitney Huston has ever done, but is she a better singer? No, because her body of work says otherwise

  • @moomintroll1963 True that. Bigger and better voice by far.

  • @moomintroll1963 you are clearly an idiot if you think whitney's fame is undeserved

  • @iheartwillandgrace lol yeah, idk why he/she said that

  • The emotion and power of this song brings tears to my eyes.

    I can't control it.

    What an amazing gem !

  • If we want more music like this, we have to potition the record companies and support those artist.

  • This song got to number 8 in the UK Top 40 in March 1994. She is definitely one of the most underrated and overlooked singers in chart history. Shame on her record label for wasting such a talent...

  • One of the most underrated songs of all time.

    Fantastic!

  • @Rorski1 i aint stopped listening to this song for a long time, love it

  • @Rorski1 indeed. Wendy has pipes.

  • wendy your the best i love this song i have the tape i use to play it over and over again. awsome singer

  • Great song, heard this earlier this evening on the Soft Rock station from Music Choice and I don't remember hearing this song back when it first came out

  • she is really really nice...fantastic voice...but this song didn't make it that big...unfortunately...how come?!

  • amazin voice

  • Just found out what this song was called and who it was by, can't believe it's taken 18 years to finally own it!!!!!! Great song, the most powerful lyrics i've ever heard

  • This is a song that I heard the 1st time on the radio when I was a shool boy in 8th grade. Finally I find it .... after more than 10years searching around ... It's her, Wendy Moten, the name that I know for the 1st time in my life ... I think I'd love her from now til forever :)

  • i heard this song the first time from a local tv program singing contest and it felt so good not until i finally heard the original and now seen the video. the song and the singer are a fit. they are both sexy and beautiful cant get them out of my head now.

  • WWendy is no 1 in my music favs i love her voice shes great!!!!

  • I am new to her and I love her voice where as she been this women can sing, the great Ms Whitney Houston is my number 1 of course but this lady is becoming number 2 I really love her voice AMAZING!!!! I am definitly a new fan and I will buy her new christmas first thing!!!

  • This was on Now! 27, released in early 1994. The memories...haven't heard this song in years and years

  • Comment removed

  • Wendy has a brand new Christmas CD out that will blow your mind....It's just been put on Itunes as of 2 days ago....I bought it and I can't believe how great she is now.....Everyone should go buy it right now....

  • chillingly beautiful, amazing .

  • I have always loved this song and am blown away by this woman's talent. Why didn't she get more recognition??

  • 3:00, So let the rain come down...[key change,] Wendy makes this sound so easy!!

    NOT SO!

This girl should have had the same kind of success as

    Jennifer Hudson!

  • WOW!! I had not listened to this song in many many years. She is indeed great!!

  • wow! this is the first time i heard the original version. she is good! where is she? if she is not popular, which is probably the case, then i agree that her voice is overrated.

  • Music's best kept secret ! Amazing voice !

  • One of the best underrated vocals

  • She is awesome and i do agree she is better then todays pop sensations BUT i dont think shes BETTER then Whitney Houston, Whitney was awesome at singing so my top two would be Whitney and Wendy (screw Mariah Carry XP)

  • baby, come out of the rain

  • You're a fantastic singer. Keep on singing because you're suck a great talent. You're even much greater than popular singers of todays' generation. I love your voice

  • True talent!

  • thank you this is beautiful just what we need to hear

  • this is really good looking forward to Rachel Stevens version with that Ray guy from 2 Unlimited

  • WOW! What a rich & powerful voice.

IMO, Wendy's voice is not only better than Beyounce, Rhianna & the rest of today's so-called pop singers, she is as good as if not better than Whitney & Mariah.

Great song - thanks for sharing.

  • I second that....she is better than most of nowadays awful music and artist...

damn i miss the good old days....

  • this is one of the reasons why Whitney and Mariah were so special! they fended off waves of talents so great like Wendy's during the 90s. Their voices outcompeted true singers not mediocre talents like Beyonce or Rihanna

  • Brilliant song, love it, bring back the 90's............ what a voice!!

  • Great song!!!

  • This is my favorite song from the 1990's (a decade I otherwise hated). In December 93 I had an appendectomy operation, and my pleasantest memory of the time is of listening to this on hospital radio. Wendy Moten can sure belt out a beautiful ballad!

  • I've loved this song forever...What ever happened to her? Her vocals were amazing!!

  • I remember this was on Now 27, the first music I ever bought when I was a kid. I loved this song!

  • ...whatever year this was originally released, top chart action or not, how was it ignored by the Grammy's in the 'Best Female Vocals' category? I should probably do my homework before posting but...

  • In 2006 she sang back-up vocals on the Soul2Soul II Tour with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

  • Nothing compares to the original singer of this song, eventough i love regine and jonalyn who sung this song I prefer Wendy's version, too bad she was not packaged well, she could have beaten Whitney Houston in the billboards.

  • bhrylle1, I agree with you completely. Wendy's vocals are simply amazing. Her interpretation of this song is sheer musical perfection.

  • I luvvvvvvvvvv Wendy!!!!

  • I've always loved this song. It's too bad she never got the recognition she deserved. Unfortunately it was a matter of timing. Wendy, Whitney and Maria are all similar in their voice types and there wasn't a market for three women at that time.

Too bad. I really liked her.

  • I love this version than Sheryn Regis version

  • Carla McGibbon cries when she hears this.

  • very talented lady!! too bad she never made it as big as whitney or maria..

  • When she splashed onto the scene with this song, she sounded so much like Whitney Houston...it was uncanny. Very talented lady...incredible vocals!!!!!!!!!

  • Always loved this song mainly because this woman had/has TALENT. Strong vocals and carried this song like there was no tomorrow! Go 'head gurl, I hear you! Wish she'd record a new cd like....NOW! Not enough real singers out here right now...so Wendy....come on in out of ....wherever YOU ARE...

  • Such a beautiful, beautiful song... I wonder where Miss Moten is now...

  • This was released when I was 13! Oh the high school memories!!!!

  • why does this song make me cry??

  • You are fatastic singer girl!! Wut a singer

  • when i listen to this song, it's always remind me to someone.. he welcome me back after i left him.. i love him so much.. with all my heart.. i regret all i've done to him.. i want to do anything to make him happy.. is that make sense, huh??

  • This is what u call music and a woman with a voice. I want to hear Whitney Houston sing this though. This sound almost the same. Where is she now though? There are sooooooo many under rated singers like this woman for eg

  • absolutely love this song...does any1 no if its on a love cd wud love to get it...thanks

  • If you heard only the voice and no visuals, she sounds a lot like Whitney Houston. She should have created a distinguishing "signature" singing style.

  • I wouldn't say that. I know I didn't think that when I first heard her. Whitney's style is too distinct. She just sounds like she sounds. Not really anything a person can do about that. Just sing and hope people like it.

  • wow, i actually thought that it was Whitney who sang this song!

  • Thanks for uploading this song. A class performance!

  • What a class song........ when did this come out?? What a great singer...... wow wow wow

  • its come out in 1988 she was bk up singer 4 the supremes writen by bgordy

  • I thought it came out in 1993

  • Why wasn't this a bigger hit? If Whitney had sung this it would have gone straight to number 1

  • I guess that was the very problem with Wendy Moten: she "almost" could be mistaken for Whitney. But people wanted the real deal.

Had she had a more distinguishable and different style, she could have gotten far.

  • wowowowowowoowwowowowowowowowow words cant express my love for this song has to be the best song to drive home after along day at work and relax.. thanks wendy for this classic song.. dazz

  • totally agree mate, and fellow boltoner!

  • beautiful song... beautiful voice

  • Lin, you always have a place in my heart, so come on in out of the rain. I will never love the way I love you. RiP my angel, no more rain, the pain has gone. Missyou so much, forever together

  • Hi Friend, sorry may I know who is your lovely Lin? your wife? daughter? or?... I'm really sad read your comment :-(

  • Lin was and is my soul mate and partner thru life. He passed of cancer and will forever have my heart. Lin, short for Lindy :} Thanks
