@bball98038 Macs are expensive for no reason. Buy the components, and install the OS. OSX, the newest one, cost 29.99 on apples ap store. Or buy something already built and you still have better components for a lower cost. Plus, since you if bought a pc and install OSX on it, you can dual boot then. PC for games, and OSX for what ever. You ending up spending less for more.

@bball98038 Microsoft doesn't make computers. They never have made computers, they do not, have not, and will likely never make hardware. That includes the xbox, which they also did not make. They contracted IBM to make the xbox. They are a software development company. PCS are cheap because hardware is in reality, very very cheap when you buy the individual components instead of slapping an apple sticker on and spending above market value on the components.

I never understood why people buy OVERPRICED Mac's when you can get a much superior PC laptop for much less and just install Mac OSX.

I think it has to do with branding but who knows. I'm no expert so maybe I'm missing something.

@phenomenon717 lololol Fail!comment is fail. You can't install OSX on a PC without an emulator, and they're still busy being buggy. You need a high-grade PC to do this, and you're looking to pay roughly the same as a mac. You can do the other way round. I think you end up with a 20% higher stability when you run Windows on a mac? not sure... I know it's some ridiculously high percent though, considering that a "much superior PC laptop" is /designed/ to run windows, so you'd expect better. ^_~

@phenomenon717 I used to be a PC fan. I will tell you why I switched. In order to install the Mac OS you have to steal a disc image and make sure your computer has the right hardware. With Mac I have Snow Leopard and can install Windows 7 for all my PC games easier then installing Snow Leopard on a pc. I also use it because of Lion which is coming out and it's autosave feature and fullscreen. I also plan to buy Final Cut 10. I do not hate PC's but in creative indeavors they are lacking.

Thank God Apple has made a come back because the competition has rejuvenated the market place. Windows was gaining a monopoly in the 90s. I figured we'd be stuck with it forever. Now we have choice and by the looks of it people are pissed. It must be a cultural allegiance to one product over the other that drives everyones blood pressure up here. It's all based on the individual statements, alotta people here say "Oooh well my mac crashes more than my pc!!" Yeah? Well my PC crashes about once every 3 days, and freezes constintly, my mac on the other hand, has frozen once since I got it two years ago, my PC was bought for about 100$ less (Since PCs are cheaper) And the only thing I found it better for was gaming, not speed wise, but because the game wasn't made for apple at that time.

Macs do suck though... At my college comp lab we have pc and mac, and whenever I try to use a mac, the piece of shit freezes and just overall sucks balls.

Also you can buy a really cheap new laptop on black friday for like 200 bucks that will get the job done, or upgrade/build you own pc for really cheap if you are a broke student like me. All of the students with macs are richers cash chuckers who suck.

@watdafreak4 i own a mac pro (snow leopard) and a custom gaming windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. My 7 never crashes..... ever. My snow leopard has crashed consistently about once every 2 weeks. as for viruses. Macs do get viruses, check the update history from apple to expel that rumor from your head. Apple is one of the worst companies I have ever seen. so that's whats up

i have a windows XP machine, vista, and 7. plus i also use an imac every singe day (leopard). the imac really can't do much, and it's got the best options you can get with it. the windows 7 desktop can do ANYTHING and costs about $500 less. the vista one is a netbook, and can do quite a bit, and crashes very rarely, the XP is ancient and yet still never crashes. the macs i use crash consistantly, and 2 of them have already completely crashed requiring a restore CD. lost everything.

I had no idea the pins were on board. I haven't built an intel since school. And it was a cartridge back then! the sad thing is Im young. Man all the command lines and beep codes are more or less trivial knowledge now. I haven't need a bootdisk in years. The floppy is LONG since obsolete to begin with. Just gotta keep up! I had to learn about the change from thermal grease to compound by ruining a zif socket :).
