They were creating more than just an album with that first CD they created a band and an image. This band had nothing before they were signed. @BooDontFront Whether or not that's true, you don't know Panic. They wrote their own songs -- I have demos on my hard drive to prove it. What's true is that they had no experience with recording, and much of their sound on the first album is due to their producer, who also helped with some of the instrumentals. What's also true is that they didn't sound very good live at first, because they recorded the album without considering how they were going to perform it live & they also needed practice.
