@nichobert:I never heard or read any term like"new prog"-especially not about XTC,while"classical music"is a generally spread+accepted label.Some terms in pop music were generated by record labels or the press,some of them are cool others not so much OR even applied to all kinds of different music where they don´t belong to."New Wave"was invented by the music industry+generally accepted(but it was already a term in jazz of the 50s).Maybe some people used"new prog",i never heard of it.
