Now, I AM a victim of psychiatric abuse, having been prescribed psychotropic drugs because (wait for it), I am a transsexual and my fundamentalist Christian parents weren't too cool with that. But, even still, I believe that the reason why Scientology opposes psychiatry and psychology is because these things could free one from Scientology. That and Hubbard was denied psychiatric care when he asked.

@diverdrew I rem this.. it was in the 70's , some of these members were claiming to be cat's etc in past lives. I always thought it was ridiculous. I couldn't understand how people could go for this. Some seemingly intelligent people , more so than my self. But I was in my 20's , so I didn't have a lot of confidence in my self as a knowledgeable person coming from a small town in the South. But its a cult... no m ore no less... just a rip off.

@daniels37 I've read Dianetics, even tried it on a friend (protip: It doesn't work). Now, I AM a victim of psychiatric abuse, having been prescribed psychotropic drugs because (wait for it), I am a transsexual and my fundamentalist Christian parents weren't too cool with that. But, even still, I believe that the reason why Scientology opposes psychiatry and psychology is because these things could free one from Scientology. That and Hubbard was denied psychiatric care when he asked.

@JessicaSideways you are right on the nose on that one. He kept his followers insane so he had total control over their minds and bodies. I have always believed in that and it is good to see someone else gets it too. I have to take meds im bi polar. I was born with it and dr.'s only discovered the illness when i was 18. If ihad the chance to have medication when i was a child i believe i would have made alot better life for myself if i had a diagnosis and medication.!

@elicious231 Agreed. Many transsexuals would get on hormone therapy or at least puberty blockers if they had the choice when they were children. But unfortunately, children are the prisoners of their parents and if a parent decides to not vaccinate their children or deny them medical care - that's cruel in the extreme.

@broseph138 Yes, it is. A child should not be forced to suffer and be unnecessarily exposed to serious illness because of their parent's stupidity. This anti-vaccination nonsense hurts children and is a textbook case of neglect. You see, I'm all for children being well and NOT dying. Maybe that's too controversial but I feel that children living to adulthood is important.

@broseph138 Yes, I know vaccines are forms of exposure - you are basically exposing the body to DEAD cells of the disease and your immune system fights off the dead disease. That way, they have the antibodies, protecting you from the disease from that point on.

@nwkaspa I'm not a member of the Church of Scientology, but the works and the many books are some of the best that I have read. Many speak ill about them but, they are far more sane than the common people.And yes! I do read the books of L.Ron Hubbard because it works.

I like inquiring about religions, philosophies, superstitions, etc. My point is that Scn is a religion because religions deal with the intension of saving or rehabilitating the spirit. If some or many countries do not recognize a particular religion as such it doesn´t mean it´s not a religion. It most probably deals with interests of other nature.2.The chineese gov wants to exterminate the lama-budhists & their "useless faith"!

@boi187 That's not an accurate number. Technically Scientology is a religion, sorry. It's very much like the eastern philosophies, its very spiritual, that is what scientology is about. It also gives you life tools that you can use. We can watch these videos and hear people say what a terrible man LRH was in his personal life but the fact is that his teachings work. Whatever he did behind closed doors I really do not care. I just learn from his teachings.

Don´t you all see he was driven into this? Actually Hubbard was a poor guy and I really feel sorry for him. He was so full of fear and self insecurities. Imagine you would be him. Read his Affirmations. It is pathetic and in the same time you feel sorry for the poor guy. I would want to give him a hand and tell him that he is ok and can stop doing this and that he is being loved although he did all this. Isn´t it hate and fear and unknowingness that gets people into this kind of trouble?
