the song is actually from Queen's Innuendo album. Not sure that I like what they did with it here....but I am sure Freddie Mercury would have liked it...he was odd in that way. The song was written by his lead guitarist Billy May as a way to chronical Freddy Murcery's illness and eventual death 6 wks after the recording was made. You should really check out the original song. Knowing that Freddy sang that, when he was near death, makes one want to cry.

Even though Phantom of the Opera has been an opera play by Andrew Loyd Webber. So, technically, Moulin Rouge was AFTER Phantom of the Opera.

And Phantom of the Opera was also a book before it was a play.

Technically, Moulin Rouge was based off a few plays that were written before Phantom of the Opera, but that's just being petty now :D So Phantom of the Opera was a complete idea way before Moulin Rouge was formed properly

OK moulin rouge took 3 years to make to get all the signatures to use bits and parts of music from past musicals, the movie came out in 1999

POTO was a book before a play, then it was the play then the movie which was way back in Black and white then one made in the 1980's then this movie is from 2004.

I love this show so much! My idol is Nicole Kidman as being a Red Head like me I respect her for trying to keep it even though she had to dye it for filming! It's just so emotional and heartbreaking and hilarious! The songs are amazing! Even though they were copied but the way the preformed it was amazing!
