  • will it work for my t3i (600d)

  • Can I use by only 1 battery instead of your video showing 2?

  • Nice video. I just picked one up last week. Like u said, it's a must have for ur Canon camera. I actually have it for the T3i.

  • can I use the battery grip with only one battery?

  • @MilGarpma Yes u can. If u look in the instructions it can work with on one or two E8 batteries.

  • How long will the AA ones last? And can you use 4 instead of 6?

  • 4:17 spit wad : to handgrip attack

  • where did you buy the wrist strap?? give me links :D

  • were does the door that open hen you opne the battery door go?

  • Just ordered one, I hope I will look more Pro now xD

  • is this the original one or 3rd party like neewer?

  • this grip works to the canon t3?

  • when you switch out to the AA battery option, do those six batteries last as long as the two fully charged standard batteries?

  • Thanks for this great review!

  • you called the camera a phone...

  • can i use that battery grip with only one canon battery?

  • @sunndreamer Yes you can.

  • Nice! does it come with an extra canon battery? or are the canon batteries sold separately?

  • @aaabatry no you must buy another battery...

  • @iMauriceTV No problem! :)

  • @TekBeatTV what about 60d?

  • @iMauriceTV Yes it should! Hope this helps!

  • What is the name of the wrist strap? Ty

  • @superwoofer84 Canon E1 :). Hope this helps!

  • Thanks for great video. I'm ordering battery grip now ))) Is the part number of the wrist strap E2?

  • @kalistalabuan Cannot recall the part number but it was called the Canon E1 wrist strap :).

  • what type of camera did you use to record this video

  • @ccriest560 I actually used the Canon HFS21 :). Hope this helps!

  • yes did that canon battery grip come with the wrist strap

  • @ccriest560 Nope the wrist strap was purchased separately :).

  • Thanks. Great video and helped me decide to get it. I was worried it would add weight and make if off balance but I agree now that it makes the stability much better. I've got a 400D and the grip is a must have.

  • @TheJerseygsxr Nice! Thanks for the kind words as well!

  • is that the stock lens and also is that an actually canon battery grip

  • @ccriest560 Yes it is, and that is the actual Canon Battery Grip :).

  • whoawhoawhoa i didn't think he was that nervous, i thought he did a fine job w/ the review. the way he talked wasn't "annoying" to me!

  • @GizmoBitz Thanks man! I really appreciate the kind words and support :)

  • can you use that with 1 battery?

  • @vanhakaveri You can :). Hope this helps!

  • Good review! I was gonna get one but this has confirmed it but dude just relax when your talking or do a practice beforehand! You make a great review and it was only marginally spoilt by your nervousness!! Loved the vid though! Excellent work!

  • @JamesAndersonFCP Sorry about that, the latest videos are much better :). Appreciate the support and input! :)

  • Djezus please relax dude :s I like the video but it's really annoying how you talk...i'm sory

  • @SebSepTV Haha, sorry about that! If I could change my voice I would :). And I'll relax more in the future ;).

  • learn to breath and relax man, wow.

  • @dumptrukkin lol will do, I think I have gotten better in my latest videos ;).

  • Great review. Which hand strap are you using? Because normally one side of the strap is attached to the tripod screw.

  • @mattiassercu Yea I picked it up on Amazon e-1 strap I believe by Canon. Hope this helps!

  • The addition of this grip with my external flash will bring me to the weight I feel necessary to hit and kill someone with! Haha, but no, great review, I am definitely going to invest in this grip. I feel that my camera is too light, and this grip will, like you said, give it that balance. It also looks nice, haha.

  • @littlebearcourage Thanks! Glad the video helped and congrats on the new grip hopefully!

  • Broke after 2 months use. Started to separate from the camera body even though nothing special was done (handheld shooting then left in the camera bag). When attached to a tripod, it broke off completely.

  • @karim75sb Wow, that is really terrible luck. Mine is still working like a dream no issues so far. Hopefully Canon was able to replace it for you.

  • Great review, does the wrist strap come with the unit ?

  • @ziggybaby1969 Nope, seperate purchase :(.

  • @TekBeatTV where from?

  • @GanEdenAustralia Amazon :). Hope this helps!

  • @TekBeatTV does this also work for the t3i

  • @TekBeatTV seems to be a few "genuine" Canon grips that are fake on ebay

  • Comment removed

  • i bought a zeikos one yesterday for 60 bucks got 2 bats with that, do u think its a good battery grip?

  • @10truman I have not experienced off brand grips before but from word of mouth they can be hit or miss :(. Sorry I could not help more!

  • @10truman zeikos is pretty good...bandH has them for around 50 bucks

  • Yes this fits the T3i. But if you're going to buy a battery grip, save some money and get some features. You can find an LCD battery grip on ebay for around $90. If you don't care about added features and just want a battery grip with a shutter release button you can knock that price down to $30.

  • @zoltan1109 Thanks for the input!

  • @TekBeatTV You're welcome.

  • Man this review was so helpful, answered every question I had answered, cheers buddy x

  • @CornwallMovement Awesome, glad I could help! :)

  • @JELLOTRACKPRO I believe it might, not 100 percent sure though.

  • without the battery grip how long does the battery usually last?

  • @vanessa1495 It is hard to say as it varies with shots, and different settings :(.

  • @vanessa1495

usually its 7 hours or 800+ pictures

    depend on your settings

  • thanks for this vid! now I know that I can use AA batteries too in this grip, not only 2 canon battery :)

  • @fofelhasznalo Yup, no problem, glad I could help!

  • great! i'm buying. thanks a bunch @TekBeatTV

  • @rienne94 No problem! Glad I could help and appreciate the continued support! :)

  • Great review! where did you buy and how much did the strap cost? whats the name of it?

  • @JaseSheehan I believe the strap was 20 dollars I believe, and I got it from Amazon, hope this helps!

  • does the BG-E8 fit the Canon EOS 600D too?

  • @Jonnyriffic It is compatible with the T3i or 600D I believe. Hope this helps!

  • @googlyvid Why would you not shoot video with a DSLR? The T2i shoots amazing video and shoots in much lower light settings than any professional video camera I've ever used.

  • iPhone cases reviewer, reviewing a dslr.

I bet you shoot with auto mode.

  • @GooglyVid Actually I do not shoot in auto mode ;). Thanks for the comment anyways!

  • @TekBeatTV Priorities?

  • @GooglyVid Assume you mean aperture priority, I tend to like a small aperture as many of my videos I like almost everything in focus (not a huge fan of the blurry background in videos, like it in photos though).

  • @TekBeatTV DSLR for video, no no.

  • @GooglyVid haha understand but honestly with the latest DSLR's rich video can be produced with some pretty cool effects. Thanks for the comment though!

  • @TekBeatTV this guy's being a bit of a dick if we're honest, it's not like tekbeattv's out of his range. the 550d is an amateur dslr so why can't he review it?

  • @EddieTLawson Everyone has their own opinion, I just answer the underlying issue (or try to address it). Better to focus on answering the question if any than respond to the negative comments. :)

  • hahaha, i bought mine brand new for about 40 dollars on amazon.. same one, too.

  • @XTheDesertSongX Nice, glad you got a good deal on it.

  • @TekBeatTV yeah, i'm pretty stoked! nice videos, by the way

  • @XTheDesertSongX Nice, and thanks appreciate the support!

  • Just wondering, what wrist strap is that?

  • @TerenceYoon It was the Canon E-1 I believe. Hope this helps!

  • can i used only one battery LP E8?

  • @pogiryan27 Don't believe so, hope this helps!

  • This Canon battery grip is overpriced. Buy the third party grip from ebay for about $50-60. It works well. The only problem at all is the rubber coming off a bit on the bottom right where your pinky rests; no big deal, rubber cement will fix it. Incidentally, third party batteries work well--and don't leak--and last for hours for about $5 apiece. AA batteries, no way; this camera drains them, and rechargeables (don't waste money on them, they won't work) just don't have the mA's/amperage.

  • @BuffoonCinema I had a bad experience with aftermarket grips and decided to go with the Canon one. Thanks for the input though!

  • @BuffoonCinema Do you think the Phottix BG is as good as the ori Canon BG?

  • does this come with those two batteries?

  • @zackademics Sorry no, sold separately :(.

  • Hello, I just wanted to know, is the wrist grip included with the battery grip itself?

  • @stavit2 Nope, sorry it is sold separately. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks for the video man! You sounded real tired though! Hahahahaha! Have been thinking this or the after market ones..

  • @lauzhehao haha yea I probably was lol. I would definitely get the OEM (one from Canon) versus a after market as I have had issues in the past. Hope this helps!

  • 04:52 place it into the phone? Haha

  • @Shredtheisles I have reviewed way too many iPhone cases haha ;).

  • Hey Will...did you get your battery grip from Canon.com like you annotated in the video? B&H Photo sells the exact same one (Canon brand-not aftermarket) for roughly $140, so I hope you didn't buy direct from Canon :-/. Either way, hopefully this helps some other people save a few bucks. Also, I've been watching your T2i-related videos since I got mine in December. Really great stuff!

  • @fender412 Nope, I think I ordered it from Amazon :). Thanks for the compliment as well man, appreciate the kind words and the support, it helps keep me going :).

  • DOES THE BATTERIES COME WITH THE GRIP?

  • @Eightpspi Nope, sorry to say but they do not :(. Hope this helps!

  • @TekBeatTV thanks for the help

  • @Eightpspi No problem, glad I could help!

  • @TekBeatTV cool, now, I can get all that with a 50mm :D

  • @AndreJordanMusic Nice! You will love the 50mm lens, it's my plastic fantastic lens. Creates beautiful portraits and the video images are great too :).

  • How much was the 550D kit + Battery grip combined? :D

  • @AndreJordanMusic At the time I purchased them it was around $1150 US. Hope this helps!

  • Great review! I wish there were more shots of the camera with it on from the front. But nonetheless, still a great review. I will be getting this.

  • @michaelcabrera Yea most people were asking for that I apologize for not incorporating more of the front angle shots. Thanks for the compliment and will do better in the future! :)

  • OK copy.. Thanks again for the input!

  • @marcusphenom31 No problem hope I could help!

  • hello sir... im choosing between this grip and the new phottix for 550d grip... the latter is cheaper and looks quite the same as the BG E8..Would you also recommend the phottix brand for those who are on a budget? (like me) Or would you still insist on getting an original accessory? thankyou so much for your time

  • @marcusphenom31 Hey man, honestly I would suggest getting the original accessory. I have had bad experiences in the past with knock-offs or generics. Just go with the OEM and you should never have that fear :). Hope this helps!

  • is your battery grip the official grip from canon or from a 2nd head company....and if a different company which one?!?....thankx...ohh and does the weight get added on alot or is it alright?!?!

  • @gunP99 Yes it is the official grip from Canon (I am not a fan of off brand replacements). The added weight is negligible. Hope this helps!

  • im ordering this battery grip now for my 550D =)

  • @rdgimages Nice, congratz on the purchase man! :)

  • do you still need to buy an extra canon battery? or is it already included in the package? thanks

  • @gadgetprince Yea, you will need to pick up an extra battery, it does not come with an extra one :(. Hope this helps!

  • @TekBeatTV so package include only battery grip it self and 2 adapters for AA/Li-ion? u need to buy extra battary, charger? and what about belt for hand? is it included or u buy it separately? is it comfortable to work with this camera without it? cuz i have neck belt in my 550D kit, so it seems i could not install this hand belt without removing neck belt

  • can you put the battery door back on the canon if you want to? also i never even knew canon sold that wrist grip thing, that's a really good idea!

  • @macbookpro57 Yea, you can just slip the door back on if you remove the grip. Yea that wrist strap is not really advertised but I think it's a necessity in my opinion :). Hope this helps!

  • @TekBeatTV oh ok, that's good to know lol, and ya this did help, I think that that wrist grip would make the camera a lot easier to hold

  • @macbookpro57 Awesome, yea the wrist grip definitely helps out with holding the T2i. :)

  • SHOW US THE FRONT!!!!

  • @funkeworks Sorry I was not able to! :(

  • Hey ummm i got a knock off battery grip but when i remove the battery flap from my camera itself it stops working even without attaching the battery grip

  • @ramdawgy Not sure I know what you mean, after you remove the battery flap you then attach the grip and the camera should work. Hop this helps!

  • I got a 17-55mm 2.8f canon lens, it weight 600g. It is straining my right hands. This should solve the problem. However it won't place flatly on table now and need a bigger camera bag.

  • @robertlam18 Bummer man but I know what you mean. I had to purchase a bigger back pack to pack everything :).

  • Do you get 2 extra batteries with it?

  • @pagedk Nope sorry to say, you will need to purchase those separately. Hope this helps!

  • I bought this camera back in September and love love love it. lol One question, when you put this on the camera how do you get the battery door out of the way?

  • @Johnniethesportsguy It function like a removable latch, you should be able to slide it out (the battery door). Hope this helps! :)

  • Awesome Thanks! :D

  • @flickerchocho No problem, glad I could be of help!

  • Great video, one of the only ones on YouTube of the actual Canon-branded battery grip. It would have been easier to understand if you mentioned that the wrist grip was sold separately, and I would have loved to see some shots of the camera with the battery grip from other angles, like from the front, and a more detailed look at the included buttons. I also would have liked to see you load the AAs in and talk about weight comparison between that and the Canon batteries. Good review otherwise :)

  • @anonymousskull Sorry about not mentioning that :), purchased that separately and did not even consider it a separate accessory haha. Thanks for the additional input, will take that into consideration in the future reviews I do, thank you for taking the time to provide advice! :) Lastly thank you for the kind words!

  • Good review chief!

  • @UglyMcGregor Thanks man! Really appreciate the kind words and support! :)

  • Thanks for the review bro!

I was wondering, if the battery grip consumes both battery together or one battery after another. And also if i can just use one battery instead of two.

    Thanks!!

  • @lauzhehao It consumes them as if they were in series I believe. I do not think you can run the grip with only one battery, you will either need two or use the included AA attachment and have 6 AA's. Hope this helps! :)

  • @TekBeatTV Thanks for the prompt reply!

Aw it would be better if they ran on parallel!

  • @lauzhehao Haha I think I may have mispoke ;). When i meant that they run in series I meant that they run as if they are one battery (not sure if it is parallel or series ;)). Hope this clears that up and no problem!

  • @lauzhehao I used this exact grip with one battery when my other one is charging. Works fine!

  • Cool review and thanks for that. I see where you do video with your T2i. I read in the T2i Field Guide that video recording will stop when the file size reaches 4 GB. Is that a problem for you? Is there a way around that? At 1920 X 1080 I would think that $ GB would be consumed pretty quickly.

Also, where did you get your wrist grip and how do you like it?

  • @KyMikeA My canon does that but once I wait a few seconds (or turn it off), it lets me start recording again. I've recorded 12GB on that thing with only that one little issue.

  • @KyMikeA No problem for me really as the videos that I take with it are not very long :). Not really a way around it sorry :(, just a built in part of the camera most likely due to overheating issues. The wrist grip I picked up on amazon ;). It's the canon wrist strap. Hope this helps!

  • how long does it last video wise?

  • @stanlymanly2 Video wise I burn through both batteries after about 30-60 minutes of video (depending on the situations and a # of other factors). If you plan on doing video do not plan on it being able to last as long as a camcorder or take more than 30 minutes of video at one time. Hope this helps!

  • @TekBeatTV Thanks for the reply! huge help!

  • @stanlymanly2 Great, glad I could help and thanks for the support (hope you subscribed ;)).

  • 4:51 "Place It Into The Phone" lol

  • @ElectroneF :)

  • does it make it heavy?

  • @SteezDip No not at all, actually for me it makes it feel more balanced especially with my 18-200mm lense on it :). Hope this helps!

  • Does the time between each flash decrease when you have two batteries equipped? When taking a BUNCH of pictures right after the other all with the flash enabled, I can be waiting a WHILE during continuous shooting. Does having two batteries shorten the wait time for the flash to be available? Shoot a bunch of pics with two full batteries and 1 full battery and see if you can take more in less time. For those wanting a cheap alternative search Ebay for "550d battery grip". Knockoffs are $25ish.

  • @hbattraw I have not noticed a difference between flash to flash times even with the battery equipped, I ended up buying a EX580 II flash instead of using the built in flash :). Hope this helps!

  • downside.. what about the fucking price

  • @sugerloafer96 Haha yea it is a bit pricey but I believe it is definitely worth it :). Thanks for the comment!
