It's the same 2008 hardware. OS and software update took advantage of cores and introduced bucket rendering. 2009 MacPro and 2010 unreleased dual hexacores will cut time drastically, increasing productivity, less waiting.
I love the fact that I can sample HQ renders in any given timeline to make lighting adjustments before I put it on the final render queue.
