seen this a many of times on deck. also seen a buddy do flips down the deck cuz he had rhino turned on him. but this is one reason i hate prowlers the exhasts is aimed at ur feet.
@joyfulvulture Not really too hot... At idle and up to quite a bit of power, you can hold your hand six feet behind an F-16 and warm up your frost bite.
An EA-6B is a bird you have to be care fully with on lunches. I love the way they sound but I have to turn my back to them when tthey are going down the track, so I will not get a lot of fast moving flight deck durt in my face.
Its amazing what these 17,18 year olds do on the deck of carriers. However, you have to expect that every once-in-a-while they're going to play around and have fun. That is what you just saw.
Thats a Troubleshooter, Not a Aircraft handler, and by the way, the Air force calls it Marshalling, the Navy calls it taxiing. And the Yellow shirts do all the taxiing on the boat.,,,,Next time, find a Pad eye bro.
Hey at least he has his gear... no FOD.

and that why they put those boards up... to stop the marshall from flying away!
viva0la0utube 2 years ago
Actually those back blast boards are for the after burners of the jets so they don't melt everything behind them.
Sting3733 2 years ago
@Sting3733 it's for more than just afterburners, if they weren't there anything aft of the cat would be blown away.

As they say, th deck of an Aircraft Carrier is one of the most dangerous places to work.
Humans don't stand a chance against engines built to power machines weighing many tons.
I wonder if that jet exhaust would severely burn you? anybody know?
jetacewaqas 2 years ago
Yes, if it was, say a F-18, or F-14, or maybe a other aircraft, if at full power, they could "melt" you, if you want to say that
but mainly, alot of air in your general direcation

Getting caught behind the JBD with a load of tie-down chains while a Tomcat is a military power, is veryyy uncomfortable!
