Well if the bike can roll with the clutch released, its in N. If it is in à gear , it cannot roll unless u pull THE clutch. And starting it in 1st gear may just stall the engine or the bike Will fly away :p

on motocross bikes nobody uses the clutch when shifting, only when going from neutral from 1st, other than that we only let off the throttle shift and keep going...no clutch except in the turns sometimes
