  • Folded 12 times haha.

  • a real katana is made from 2% carbon steel. 1095 steel is .95% carbon. 1095 is regardedly hard, polishes quite well, but still big difference compared to tamahagane in the luster and edge retention. and I'm sure you've figured out that is just a plastic wrap on the handle lol ^_^v

  • @graphixkillzzz

It was a gift for someone so I didn't remove it :)

  • nice

  • ICHIGOS SWORDDDDDDD

  • It is a fuller not a "blood groove"! jeez

  • @shadtek

Well I apologize for not knowing that. Obviously you are a better person than me.

  • How can you tell if a katana is carbon steel?

  • @552joker

You get your swordsmith to certify the material for you. You can also just swing it against something and if it snaps then it's steel lol. Otherwise there's not really anyway you can tell what grade or even if it is carbon steel. Theres few indicators like how brittle it is and how sharp you can get it. But not very easy to test.

  • @Disinf3ctant Damn okay lol, I was just asking because my sister gave me a katana that she got from a friend, and idk what it's made out of lol, and I am not going to risk it breaking.

  • man i was looking for that sowrd since long time "ichigo's banki" i always find the 1060 but as u say this sword is 1095 from where did u get it can u please send me the link thank u very much :)

  • @sadeer1000

In actual combat 1060 is much prefered to 1095 as it is less brittle and will hold an edge for almost as long. 1095 is excellent if you just want it sitting on your desk and want to show it off to your friends by effrtlessly cutting cardboard and other small items =)

I'll send the ebay link your way.

  • @Disinf3ctant ...wow really... your extremely picky with steel, 1095 is also harder, which means it's sharper, besides, how durable does a sword need to be? This is 21st century, people wear jean's and maybe thick leather jackets at most, 1095 is better then 440 b stainless steel, that's for sure!

  • ive been looking for a katana for years but im so apprehensive about buying them never know if its a piece of crap or something that still has practical use

  • @Ichimarufc look up for e-sword. com and you can see some of the prices of real katanas...

also, the national geographic "how to make samurai katana swords", at the end they said what i say, couse i investigated, you are the one being smart, you might try thinking before speaking =)

  • @muguen22

These swords are treasured for their history and being rare examples from a certain age. Not for their quality or cutting ability. But you're right, they can be very expensive. Some pieces are auctioned for millions while others are restricted to history museums and would never be traded.

  • 400 australians? YOU SOLD PEOPLE FOR THE KATANA :O

  • hey man , that's a nice sword where did you get it from i know you said Australia ,but if you can give me the address would like to get one myself

    thanks

  • @Disinfectant

Thanks for help, but I have another question

I'm looking into a wakizashi made up of 5160 carbon steel

Is that really good or what?

  • @GamerGeek259

Hey mate, as you probably know these sword forging techniques were invented long ago and were advanced for their time. Today we have much stronger materials. 5160 Spring steel is one such example. It's not as hard as 1095 so you cannot get it as sharp but it's highly flexible and blades made of this are very hard to break. Definitely a good option but you have to understand that this didn't exsist 300 years ago and therefore the sword will be by no means traditional.

  • hey can you give me the EXACT place where you ordered that sword from?

  • that katana is a anime sword, in bleach, named tensa sangetsu, is the sword of the principal character Ichigo, and real katanas are not made from steel 1095, they are made from iron sand and coal, and this materials had an espesific kind of chemicals, that cant be produce in great quantitys. takes like 6 month to produce a real katana. if you think that you posses a real one, you have been owned, couse the real ones cost like 2000 dolars base, and some of them cost over 45000. Next coment

  • @muguen22 Of course when dealing with a topic like the Katana there is always one or two like yourself. However I have not the time or the will to try convince you otherwise to any considerable extent. But if you do some brief reading in the lower comments you will know I have that I ordered the tensa zangetsu tsuba. This is not a replica for anime fans. And you're wrong I have two very genuine and certified Katans that cost around $3000 each.

  • @Disinf3ctant you dont understand me, i dont doubt that you had a realone, what i was traing to say is that in the video you say "it is 1095 steel, wich is waht the real katanas made out of" or something like that, and i was telling you that its not. sorry if you think i was insolting you, my first lenguage is spanish, and i learn english by my self, and some times its very dificult to write

  • @muguen22 Then I apologize. You're not wrong. 1095 is a modern classification. In history, Katanas were made using ironsand and when that was smelted it produced a high carbon steel that was very similar to modern 1095. For $400 this sword pales in comparison to finer pieces and the fittings are definitely not the best I have seen. However there is no reason you can't get a blade folded by hand like the real thing for a cheap price. All I mean by real is that this isnt a machined piece of metal.

  • @GamerGeek259

Hi, steel tend to be brittle and isn't great for long swords. The best option is High carbon steel. The more carbon the steel has the harder it is and is designated by a higher number. Generally you will choose from either 1045, 1060 and 1095. 1040 is really soft but easy to forge and is cheap. 1095 is very hard, and is the sharpest but is more brittle than 1060 so it's better for display. 1060 is flexible and quite sharp and hard so that the best if you want to cut stuff.

  • you cant go to asia..(Mike shinoda said) why(replied by the kangaroo) cuz you're from australia(mike replied) XD

  • Katana of One piece

  • is that an antec pc case you have there?

  • @creekrocker

Haha, yes sir. Indeed it is the 1200.

  • @Disinf3ctant nice

  • FUCKING FAKE SWORD

  • @sarikaspanos

I assure you it's quite tangible and and exists in the physical world. If what you mean to say is that it's a replica and not an antique then you sir have a firm grasp of the obvious because clearly you can't get one of those for $400.

  • To any idiots-THAT IS A MANJI SWASTIKA NOT A NAZI ONE

  • Prettty nice blade but damn expensive guessing u got it off ebay or something though

  • @InvasionUnknown

My friend referred me to this forgery so this one was made for me =). But I'm pretty he has an ebay store as well though. Try user name taukruan88, or something. I don't know how to spell it haha. Sorry bro/

  • bankai?

  • Where did you buy the sword from? Did you need a license or something like that for it?

  • I live in Australia too NSW. Are there any laws I should be wary about, it seems odd that we can just buy a katana... a weapon right off the internet.

I have done some research already but I really want first hand advice, the verbose of law often confuses me :(

  • @ggHaSu

Hey mate, you can legally buy any sword you like off the internet. The seller is reponsible for all the customs paperwork you need not worry. As far as I'm aware you are legally allowed to carry a "sharpened piece of metal" around with you provided it's in clear view and you don't put your hand on the hilt at any time haha. Happy shopping ;)

  • @Disinf3ctant

    Thanks! So much

  • @Disinf3ctant So, I could carry a sheathed sword in my hand down a public street?

  • @Gothic238 Yes, you could. But don't expect everyone to be completely normal around you lol.

  • I hope you know the sword comes from a show called bleach that is a bank of ichgo zangazy

  • @mrjack4001

Well.. kinda, not really haha, I had it custom forged as a real katana. And the guard was made to resemble the tensa zangetsu at request. The sword itself is not a fan made replica. =)

  • did you realize how raciest that square guard is? it's the swatstica (probably spelled wrong) which represents the nazi's

  • @knifekid666

It's rectangular and it's off an animated cartoon series. And the Swastika's points rotate the other way in any case. I'm not even white, why the hell would I buy a swastika guard?

  • @Disinf3ctant some people wont care if it's rectangular or square it mostly looks the same, also if you look at it from the other side then it will be going the right way, and i don't know why you did but apparently you did

  • @knifekid666

Obviously they can't distinguish a swastika from similar shapes. And honestly I'm not bothered by their feelings. The guard was specifically requested by my friend who wanted it to mimic the tensa zangetsu. If I wanted to be racist, rest assured I would buy a legit swastika banner.

  • @Disinf3ctant the swastika was also the sign of piece in china, and since its coming from an asian country, not a european on, people will most likely interpret that it means peace, dont worry about what that guy is talking about. Nice katana.

  • @knifekid666 the swastika was also the sign on piece in china, and since its coming from an asian country, not a european on, people will most likely interpret that it means peace.

  • @knifekid666 Do you realize how much of a moron you are?

  • Comment removed

  • Just got my own katana. When you take it out pop it out of the saya with your thumb and then gently pull the back part of the blade against the saya to avoid dulling the blade and cutting the saya. I only know this from the site I got my sword from.

  • @knifekid666 If I remember correctly, the symbol actually just represents good luck in Japan. the swastika is twisted at an angle.

  • @knifekid666 ignorance... thats not a racist sign in the first place. its a buddhist symbol which represent good luck and well being. hitler saw the sign when he went to choir school and thought it was cool and used it without realising. so dont twist the origins of the sign

  • that sword look like ichigo's

  • Maybe I haven't understand well, I'm really not sure...have you pay 400 australian dollars for that sword? If so I can surely say that it's not "handmade, using the traditional methods in an oak furnace". Sword maker that use the traditional mathods are almost two, and I really can say that will not make you pay only 400 dollars for one of their sword. Probably it's a good replica, nothing more. For real good katanas there's the antique fair in Kyoto in march or sometimes an auction in London.

  • What, site did you order that blade from I wanna pick me up a cold steel kitana

  • tensa zangetsu?

  • @gundamgpo1fan

Well not originally I had to find that fitting. A bloody hard search lol.

Cause my friend who I gave this to was a complete Anime nut.

  • Not blood groove ( Bo-Hi ) and it's a wood Saya. Anyway nice sword , you should read up on them .

  • @traceydeanrainey

Hence the annotation lol. I enlarged it now. But thanks.

Blood groove is just another to refer to bo hi. Despite not having anything to do with blood.

  • nazi symbol and its from bleach =.= i wonder what the japanese are thinking

  • @SammaFTW i'm sure that look like nazi symbol but it's not.

  • @MisterTNoob I'm not an idiot, I just said it looked like it. -.-"

  • @MisterTNoob

He meant Tensa Zangetsu from Bleach. That "nazi symbol" looks exactly like it.

  • @MisterTNoob in fact it is a nazi symbol, but not like you thinks, in budist culture, that means a diferent thing. had a many interpretations, like unity, balance, etc, hitler use it becouse of the meaning of the symbol, and now we see it like the encarnation of evil, but you still can find it in a lot of budist manuscript

  • @MisterTNoob it's called a Manji, it is a buddist symbol for the relation of all things to man, heaven earth good and evil it's a very interesting idea and a sad part of history this symbol meant to be for all was stolen by the Nazi party and now has such negative meaning.

  • @SammaFTW Thats not "The Nazi Symbol" I'm assuming you mean the Hand guard the Swastika is an ancient Indian symbol which comes from a Sanskrit word meaning Luck or Auspicious it pre-dates the Nazi party ( formed in the 1920 ) by a good few thousand years I believe and is still widely used throughout asia.

  • @ManamoPrime Omg, I'm not an idiot it was a joke. You don't need to be such a know it all bitch.

  • @SammaFTW I was polite, there's no need to be rude. The joke wasn't at all obvious and I thought you were being serious. Though the fact that you call me a 'know it all bitch' because of a misunderstanding tells me something else about you.

  • Best thing to do is get a sword cleaning/maintenece kit. Keep the powder coat fine and remember to leave a thing layer of oil upon the blade to avoid any contamination with foriegn matters. No hand marks!!!

  • dude isnt that TENSA ZANGETSU?Where did you buy it from? and how much did it cost?

  • Hi, can you tell me where you bought this sword???
