  • Thank you so much for sharing this!

  • LOL !!! if they make me laugh that means top preformance especially the last part just like the record.:)

  • Man!,.....I too am a Three Dog Night Fan. I seem to remember watching this?.

I was 9 or 10,if this was 1970-71?,it sure looks it!. I was absolutely into music then, prior to and Now!.

Still....dig...em!. Still sing this song & All of their music too!. Early 70's was GREAT Time!.

  • @79thnyHighlander I am right there with you! 70's was awesome, 80's not so much. In the 70's they mastered their instruments and had genuine talent. Video killed the radio stars! I wish there were quality videos of Tull, Yes, Bowie...

  • One of the greatest songs from the early 70's and a perfect representation of how the world was back then. It is easy to be cold and cruel to people, it just takes more effort in being nice to each other and the world would be a better place!! It's still true some 40 or so years later!!

  • OMG! Why do I have chiills. Oh that's right...great music, fine lyrics...fantastic singing. 1970. Baby boomers rock!!! Remarkable voice. and that end.

  • So this is the song Kid Loco sampled for his song A Grand Love Theme. I like it.

  • FUCK YEAH!!! They NAIL this song!

  • I love how this opens Zodiac

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • Anyone know the names of the band members and what they played?

  • Some of your comments are so immature and ignorant, if you don't like these guys get the hell on to some other that suits you perhaps something with no meaning nor substance let's see ... oh I got it RAP.... LOL

  • @noiui ~ I LOVE TDN and many other classic Rock groups but just as you stated others comments r ignorant so was yours.. Im a fan of pretty much all music and crazy as it sounds, there really are SOME rap songs that actually have meaning as well as healthy messages (Jesus Walks ~ by Kanye West, and I dont like the man nor am I religious even & if you can stand it, try to listen to a song called "letter to my son" by Don Trip) There are MANY with crap meaning but not all.

  • Whenever you heard Three Dog Night, you know you were going to hear great singers plus a great band. I'm a first-generation Dog fan, and this music is hard-wired into my conscience. Great stuff. True talent is never dated. Especially here

  • "This is the Zodiac speaking"

  • CORY WAS SOOOO FREAKEN HOT!

  • TDN never wrote any of there own music, but played it all so well:):):)

  • Timeless

  • Chuck, Cory and Danny were kings in the 70s! It sure did come from Hair, but Three Dog Night did it better!

  • Chuck, Cory and Danny were kings in the 70s!

  • @saapsu Probably would be near the best band in 2012 if they reunited

  • Wasn't this song part of the songs in the musical "Hair" from 1968?

  • @TDS4UT

    yes, it was.........

  • Best mustache in rock-n-roll....

  • FANTASTICA CANCION. LA ENCONTRE TAMBEN GRACIAS A ZODIAC

  • nice song, with a good message... lav it

  • buen exito del recuerdo

  • Cory was so freaking HOT!!!!

  • @Themittens2010 Chuck is singing. I know him, as we got clean together.

  • @barneyronnie Clean together?? (i know chuck's singing, i just think Cory is SO FREAKEN HOT!) lol but yeh :P

  • Love this song!

  • The more I listened to this song the more I realized the amount of conviction in the lead singer's voice- it's something you almost never hear anymore.

  • @douro20 So true! He's just laying it all out there! Love it!

  • I was born in 1970. My dad loved 3 dog night and would play this song over and over on his 8 track inside his corvair convertible when we would go on cruises on A1A....now, I love this band....great music from a great time..thanks for posting....

  • the bass player was often referred to as an egoist...maybe that's because he was so awesome.......wish they would have turned him up more in the studio recordings............listen to him here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Social injustice,

  • It's from HAIR. Depending on which version of script you see performed, you can take different meanings. Basically it's about people who are self involved and place themselves B4 others.

  • A addict who called for help.Love the song just not sure about the message..

  • Dig that belt on Chuck

  • These guys were great!!! My favorite is Chuck Negron., he had the greatest voice., and a very beautiful man too., Rock on Chuck.,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • YES! - YES! - TODAY IT CERTAINLY IS EASY TO BE HARD. ITS CALLED VIAGRA!

  • @HEARTHEANGELSVOICES

The crack head gets one laugh.

Yes, modern medicine has done wonders for the unendowed. But easy? Not without a doctor's perscription and $10 a pop! Then what if it doesn't work? or she can't wait? or she prefers a man with a libido?

But why is this an angle on one of the best popular musical vocal groups?

Is it any wonder that he doesn't get a second listen.

  • @Netspin1 - ONE LAUGH IS BETTER THAN NONE! HOW IS IT THAT YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT VIAGRA?YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH IT COSTS DUDE! YOU GOT ME WORRYING ABOUT YOU NOW! NOW IF IT DOESN'T WORK YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK. IF SHE CAN'T WAIT - WELL TELL HER TO COME SEE ME. IF SHE WANTS A LIBIDO SHE CAN GET ONE AT THE GIRLY BOOK STORE. THEIR NOW ON SALE 6" = 9.75 8" = 10.99 & 12" = 12.50 BATTERYS EXTRA.....ENJOY

  • Cool Stuff

  • Chuck was particularly proud of this one not so much because it went to number 1 but because he recorded it in the studio in a single take.

  • @jasonwheel whoa really? that is SWEET!!!!!!

  • @Themittens2010 actually it may not have gone to #1, but it did reach the top10. but he did belt it all out in one take.

  • When my son was working at the Santa Fe Springs Library in 2002, he bought tickets for Three Dog Night & Brenton Wood's outdoor concert at the Santa Fe Springs Civic Center. They both ROCKED & kicked ass!! The only downsides of that evening were the concert ending and the Three Dog Night CD they were selling there being sold out b4 I could buy 1.

  • wow could Chuck sing, absolutely awesome vocal abilities

  • check out the lyrics.....How can people be so heartless....?

  • I love this song...and TDN....i also like this song sung in the movie HAIR! because it came from the broadway play HAIR

  • I saw them in concert in Hampton, va the coliseum had just been built and openned we were the first graduating hs to use the new coliseum and colors were green and gold. they were and are my favorite group and their music timeless

  • I can never apologize more for the things I did as a stupid teenager. You will always be my biggest regret Jana. I'll always remember your beautiful smile.

  • timeless message!!! circa 1970??? whhhaatt???

  • Pink is my fav color. Cory is so cute with his easy smile.

  • I loved watching Cory with his tamborine here. And nice vocals for Chuck on this performance, probably the best performance of this song I have seen. But dang it camera person, couldn't you have zoomed in on Cory? :D

  • @wouldntyoulike2know EXACTLY!!!! he was REALLLLLLLYYY hot :) watch Shambala. he is Super hot in that one!!!! :)

  • @Themittens2010 He absolutely is! You are very right indeed! I find Cory to be the best eye candy out of Three Dog Night.

  • @wouldntyoulike2know not anymore he looks like a ghoul..lol

  • @MOSKII58 On the contrary...;)

  • @wouldntyoulike2know you are in fantasy land Cory is not far from 70 yrs old if that gets you excited, i feel sorry for ya..no winks, nods, or any other nonsense, he is what he is , yes in his day he might have been somethg for you girls to see, but its all a dream for ya now..nothing better to do..

  • @MOSKII58 It sounds to me that you have nothing better to do...tinges of jealousy perhaps? What does it matter to you? I like what I like, don't let it bother you.

  • @wouldntyoulike2know - I know , Cory was a beauty .Cory's My fav too.

But of course they were the best when all three together TDN (and young in their prime ) too bad we have to get old :(

  • It awwma Negron was neve happier than when his bandmembers were around him and on the stage. Women seemed to last only so long. He may have been stoned when he did this, but what a voice!

  • rock that pink shirt!

  • thanks for posting

  • Love this song! brings up memories.

  • One of my favorite groups of all time!

  • Unforgettable. This is a great video for the song. Don't think anyone has done it better. Thank you for posting.

  • Amazing vocals!Great video!Thanks!

  • Their first hit was a single (ONE) which also featured Chuck. He's good even today at his age and so are Kory and Danny. Now if they could grow up and make amends today Three Dog Night could do a reunion tour that would make world history. I only hope they do it before I die.......,.

  • Excelente canción , me recuerda mucho el colegio , recuerdo que teniamos un grupo de rock , y una de las canciones preferidas era esta .

Son grandes musicos y cantantes .

    Juan Ml

  • To Helvitz: it was actually a post from "Beerhits" I was reacting to with sudden laughter, regarding his comment: "Now in modern day it is shallow heart and superficial phoney music and phoney country songs putting on phoney accents when singing making me mostly sick." Just the way he put it, and the poor grammar and spelling didn't hurt either, for a chuckle.

  • One of Three Dog Night's best in a long line of great tunes ! First concert I ever went to was these guys. Hard to remember now but they were one of the biggest acts in the world in the early 70's ...

  • Damn hard song to sing. Saw them with ZZTop and Vanilla Fudge in Texas one night around 69'. They were the most professional on stage that night. Great singers. About 4 friends and I went to the Back door to see who would come out after the show. We knocked and oneof the 3 dog night singers stuck his head out the door, looked us up and down, and said " Aw, it's just a couple of teeny boppers" and then closed the door shut. Funny.

  • I never hear this, or of the band, until I heard this in the title sequence of Zodiac...in my mind I expected a black vocalist, something like the Flamingos; that's about the best compliment I could give...excellent stuff!

  • @discoverydavid - its that the wonderful way we are only six degrees in separation from knowing about something or being connected to someone. and it is your's to 'discover'. :) many thought the singer was a black man, but thats because he sings with soul... and there's no color barrier there. check out the rest of their music esp "out in the country". also the band Blood Sweat and Tears, David Clayton Thomas, is an awesome 'soul' singer!

  • i grew up listening to these guys! almost makes me cry sitting here listening to this. i never saw these guys live. always wanted to. i miss them and their music so much. everything about it was great and beautiful. the organ, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. you sure can't say that about alot of the music out there today.

  • There was such a huge social change going on in the late sixties and early seventies it provided a platform for 3DN, Grand Funk, and several other super talented American bands to come to the front of what so many people remember as the true Golden Age of American Rock n' Roll... I loved them all... Still do... Such an irony in many ways, that 40 years later, kids think of it as "old style" and listen to more "beat-box" sounds and have no clue what they missed...

  • @laydbakk1 very true!

  • I was 20 then. An era of great music, great muscle cars, and of beautyful feeling such as the lyrics in this song. People are so different now as music. That is how much everything has changed. I thank God i had the privilege to live in this era wich i`ll carry deep inside for life, and beyond.

  • @atele6 Me too.. I am old now but I was there too and 20.. The best of times to be there..

  • This gem of a song originated from the Broadway Musical "Hair"!

  • Is that Kevin Bacon in the blue shirt, on the left???? lol

  • @bonampok No, it's Bobby Hutton (he had a hit before joining Three Dog Night called ROSES AND RAINBOWS ARE YOU).

  • @MrPistolMason Actually, it's DANNY Hutton, and he had two solo hits "Roses and Rainbows" and "Funny How Love Can Be" prior to becoming a member of Three Dog Night!

  • It's from HAIR

  • i could watch this over and over... still my favorite voices. Chuck is amazing. Sad to think they really may never sing together ever again. Such a loss.

  • No one can sing this like Chuck ...They need to bury the hatchet and Tour again!

  • @14 spokin what humor at 105? you dont have a clue

  • it looks crazy in 2011 for some but this is fckn awesome. For all others, you dont know what you missed. Keep it up Chuck

  • I forgot about this beautiful wonderful song! I turned 10 years old in 1970 and I was well aware of all music going on around me then. I got a Three Dog Night album later on being their greatest hits. They were underrated and a great band. Back in that time music was deep heart, feeling, true melody, highest quality, and the best of the best. Now in modern day it is shallow heart and superficial phoney music and phoney country songs putting on phoney accents when singing making me mostly sick.

  • @BeerHits i agree with you 100% right there! music has really gone down hill. i miss these guys and their music. :(

  • @BeerHits Go get a history lesson Junior. Three Dog Night was never underrated . The group had the most top ten songs, sold the most records, and sold more concert tickets than any other group. They are an institution! They are missing so much today without Chuck who was the VOICE of Three Dog Night. I love their music back then and still today. This song from Hair rings true even today and is a classic. Three Dog Night will always rock in my book!

  • @Divvadoll Maybe you need the lesson. Chuck was not the only voice, Cory and Danny beg to differ. Cory sang on just as many great songs as Chuck, and didn't throw away the best years of his life. I love Chuck and am so happy he's still kicking ass, but lets not go revising obvious history.

  • @eva89117 You need a lesson in comprehension. Read the entire comment. Yes, Cory and Danny will beg to differ. I would too if I were in their shoes. Both have great voices and collectively all three made up the vocal sound of Three Dog Night. I love them all and the band! Vocally there is depth to Chuck's voice a resonance that stirs your soul. Good you're taking up for them but it is what it is. Chuck has moved on with original musicians backing him up..hmmm. Obvious history no revision.

  • @Divvadoll I comprehend, O wise one. VOICE in caps makes it completely clear. I've seen Chuck and the Dogs and enjoyed both thoughly, although just because Chuck has a different band doesn't make him the progressive you seem to think, it's obviously nessesary to have a band. I'll always prefer Cory's voice and that's my opinion. No need to tell me Chuck was the VOICE. But since you fancy giving lessons I'll leave the kennel to lassie! Have a lovely day=)

  • @BeerHits the only knock on this great band, is they never wrote their own music!... i wonder why?, a 9 piece talented group that didnt know how to write, but could make any song given to them a hit? anyway, pieces of april is a song u should listen to ...tommy...

  • ha......a little humor at 1:05.

  • Awesome

  • fantabulous :)

  • WWWOWWWW!!!! No one can do it like Chuck!

  • I WAS A LITTLE GIRL BACK IN THE 60'S DANG..I REMEBER THIS SONG TOUCHING MY HEART THEN AND IT STILL HAS THE SAME EFFECT NOW..WOW

  • @MZNELLIE626 Way Kool. I was an eight-year-old in the fall of 1969 when I heard this on the radio. Just entered the third grade. That was the best era for music and I had the best teacher in the world!!!

  • Extremely true, BeerHits. I hate what has happened to music since that time. You made me laugh so hard with your comments. BTW, this song was from the first rock musical, "Hair." Not sure if you knew that.

  • @jlbaker2000 Hi. Yes, I too, hate what has happened to the music scene since 1969. Funny thing is, is that people who were our age in 1969, said the same thing about our music. The musical "Hair" came out in 1979 and I know a black woman who sang this song in that movie when she confronted the father of her child, but who didn't want any commitment. What comments of mine made you laugh so hard? Was it the one where I quoted: "Irritate A Skinhead....Support Interracial Dating."

  • EVERY current music industry manufactured "singer" can now turn their mic's in -- just leave them in the box on the left.

  • @artdrtr2 ICAM! BTW, Chuck is now 68, and sounds even better NOW than he did when this was recorded! A lot of today's "singers" could learn a LOT from this man!

  • such a voice,such a masterpiece

  • one of the great voices in pop. Easily the best of the three lead singers. soulful.

  • wow - Tom reminds me of Frank Zappa.

  • thanx for the flashback...long time ago.

  • omg.....wonderful...Thank you..for the post...

  • What a great video, Chuck had a fantastic voice in the early '70s just perfect! Thanks for the post!

  • Wow ! Chuck sang this with such deep emotion ! Very moving !

  • I love the way Chuck belts out the high notes! This guy has one hell of a voice!

  • Love it when Chuck wails at about the 2:54 mark.

  • Thanks for posting, been looking for it. Previously posted but removed. Great Song from a great singer who has kept performing....hope he comes to my city in the near future would love to see him perform.

  • Chuck had one of the greatest voices, during this time.

This song was done in just one take, during the original recording for the record company. He just nailed it, right out of the box.

    Chuck was that good.

  • @glaetze Yes, he did...

  • I'm glad I grew up during this time... being able to enjoy the time and its wonderful array of talented singers, bands, writers and so forth.

  • corey cracks me up with his adorable sense of humor, checkit out at1:03 when he bats his eyes at chuck, just love him!!!

  • One of my favorite Three Dog Night's many hits. i happen to know it is also Chuck negron's favorite. Chuck is the guy singing, in case you don't know.
