@pyrodudewasa Obviously your mentally challenged because that's about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I live in the U.S. and obviously have lived with American Football and all the other textbook American sports my entire life. I quit all of them after i realized what a real sport is, and that's rugby.
@rmgabe I feel like a bit of a dick replying to a 4 year old comment, but we really don't recruit from the pacific islands. NZ is the biggest and most prosperous nation in the south pacific, so we have heaps of immigrants from Pacific Nations moving here all the time. There are more Samoan people living in Auckland than live in Samoa! Most of the players with gnarly pacific names were born here or moved here when they were kids.
@xXVi3t4lyfeXx You have a very warped view of rugby players. In modern professional rugby plenty of the players are over 220 pounds. A big rugby player is 100% bone and muscle and weighs 240-280 pounds. Try telling Brad Thorn he's a rugby bitch. You would be turned into a little red puddle within seconds.
The complaints and comparisons between American football and rugby are meaningless. They are what they are and no about of bellyaching is going to change reality. Spend your valuable time arguing about something that has meaning.
New zealand are so good because the country and their local clubs all do their basics rite and its always hard to beat a team with good basics and a good defence.
Ok, the only thing rugby and football have in common is the fact that you can tackle. They need not be compared, football players just feel upset when they watch this and realize how much faster and harder it is than football. Stop crying about it.
@TheElectricJamz It has more to do with the celebrity that goes hand in hand with being an athlete in America, compared to being a Rugby player from, say New Zealand. Richer nation means more disposable income, which in turn means more leisure time, which means greater importance and more attention placed on sports. Athletes, like football players, are some of the most recognizable faces in the US. You can't blame them for rising to such a level and acquiring a certain amount of cockyness
@ESPNlllTheOcho Also, it's unfair to generalize the entire American football population as being one in the same. There are plenty of players who, after doing something outstanding in a game, show relatively no emotion and would be considered "humble." They just happen to be the people that get the least amount of publicity. Guys who are outlandish like Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco get more publicity because of their outlandish behavior.
so much hate between football and rugby.. both are fun. football is my personal favorite but that is my preferance.. i was also a runningback so it was always fun haha. but my favorite adrenaline rush comes from football. when someone hits you so hard it knocks every thought out of your brain except move forward. just an amazing feeling.
Ive played both and rugby is more tactical and by far my favourite.. Ever had to respond to a team on your try line and you being the only man ready to move... Until you have done this don't comment on rugby
@TheDudeWithShoes Yes that happens a lot. Football is clearly more tactical/strategic just look at how important the coaches are in football compared to rugby, look at all the preperation and scheming done before a game and how long it takes. Don't get me wrong I lvoe rugby but I have to disagree with you on the tactical comment for the above mentioned reasons. (I have played both by the way)
but as a captain of my school rugby team...i know how tactical rugby is...from postions to placement to keeping your players in line, almost all apects in rugby fall down on one player who has to lead their squad
@TheDudeWithShoes Very true I guess the word tactical would apply more towards rugby. But just like you said thigns come down to one person, but football it not only comes down to all 11 but also to the coaches, offense, defense everything. So i think there is more strategy and teamwork, whereas rugby is more tactical. And I would say both sports involve organization unparralled in any other sport.
American football is for pussies coz they were paddin and helmets for fuck sake what do rugby player wear shorts top socks boot and a gum shield so fuck off all u americans
@S1M0196 Your fuckin retarded, why don't you try it before you talk shit, then atleast you will know what your talkin about. I like rugby alot I like american football alot, there nothing alike except the ball and a few rules, you couldn't play american football without pads and have any kind of career, you would be lucky to make a full season. So fuck off.
@S1M0196 Americans wear pads because American football requires much more contact than Rugby. The only time Rugby players contact each other is in scrums or tackles. In American football every single player is either blocking and running (offense) or trying to get through blocks and tackling (defense). Suck my balls!
@YellowBlackbird12 thats not tru, theres just as much contact, if not more, in rugby. its just a differant sport, u need pads in footbal cause the game is diffrent. i lik football better cause u get to b a little meaner wen u tackle but both sports are still badass
@YellowBlackbird12 In American Football only a select few get the ball. In American Football only a select few actually tackle. In Rugby, Everyone tackles, everyone gets the ball, and everyone can score. Also in rugby when someone gets tackled, they dont take a break like the girls in football, they keep it going.
@StartMeOver1 standing around and more "none stop action" can be found than rugby? A marathon... and those sure are exciting huh? In American football each player is specialized like in chess. (Everyone on defense and special teams can make a tackle so you're wrong there) Each player has a role and a job that all fits into a grand strategy. Watching two well coached football teams play each other is like watching two chess masters do battle. Nothing beats American football for strategy or hits.
@StartMeOver1 Football players take a break in order to call another play. Have you ever heard of a word called strategy? American football is chess while rugby is more like checkers. In checkers all the pieces can move around like a mob... in rugby all the players jog around and toss the ball backwards to each other while the rest of team mills around. Then they drag each other down by their short shorts and brag about how hardcore they are cuz "the action never stops!" You know where less
always dumb comparisons to american football and rugby. its annoying already, you like what you like. rugby was what american football came from and now the two sports are different. so please, enough with the dum-dum talk. personally i like american football better, lots better but im american so no wonder. as a kid, when we played 'rugby' we called it 'smear the queer' and there wasnt a goal line, you just hammered the dude with the ball.
@Samrabey11 I agree they are both sports for men. Show me one hit in rugby where the tackler goes head to head with the ball carrier in rugby, and i'll show you some guys that could run a rugby field ten times faster then these bloaks
@isoj23 Umm... Bryan Habana can run 100M in like 10.5 seconds, Shane Williams 11.6 american footballers may be able to run a fraction of the pace but they dont have the ENTIRE opposition bearing down on them
This is the same game we played in elementary school. We called it "cream", cause the idea was to make the guy with the football get beat down, and leave nothing but smear stain. It was a great time regardless in you were the runner or the tacklers. American football is game for Nancys in comparison.
This is the same game we played in elementary school. We called it cream, cause the idea was to make the guy with the football resemble a fly on the windshield. It was a great time regardless in you were the runner or the tacklers!
@AndyMack95 I think there is confusion over what kind of football you are referring to, I assume you mean Rugby came from football (soccer to you yanks), not that Rugby came from American football. To clear that up though Rugby was actually being played at the School of Rugby (hence where the name comes from) as early as 1750. That's before the Declaration of Independence and therefore, fair to say a long time before American Football was around!
So rugby is essentially football in kickoff mode only? (with a few field goals mixed in) I actually saw some clips of matches and that's how it seems to me!
Well either way, I would love to have these guys on Special Teams!
rugby is great so is football and soccer and baseball and basketball and racketball and tennis and swimming and oil changing and water polo and horse polo and dog grooming and orange picking and pool and mma. STOP WASTINT YOUR TIME TRYING TO COMPARE YOU IDIOTS THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! and yes rugby came way before american football who give a flying golden haired diamond studded maggot talking filled horse shit
Now, I'm kind of a fan of American football, but Rugby... There is just no comparison. The one of the many reasons that Rugby eclipses football, is that in American Football, the game is FAR to centric around the one great player. Whereas Rugby is a team collaboration, through and through. Yes there are great players, but every play is a team effort to get to the try zone. It's like watching Football, there's always the 1 play that's like "That JUST happened!" In rugby.. Every play is like that.
@Uberdw33b ... how can you be a football fan and say that? Football ball is the ultimate team sport. No one player is going to carry the team himself, you a liar son!
I have seen all of these amazing tries, but I am still convinced that the try at 0:47 - 1:03 is the best try I have ever seen in my life! The guy is kinda chubby, but he was dodging people soo well, it was perfect! He just picked the right pathway, but then he gets tackled, but slides like 5 meters into the scoring zone, so fuck yeah! amazing!
ever since making my high school rugby team i finnaly see why rubgy is harder than football. I feel like an idiot when i used to say football was tougher
Rugby nowadays is much more controlled even in college rugby.there are alot of big people in college so its pretty cool smashn n bashn haha.rugby in this video lack in defence but if u watch NPC teams play now youll see dat their defence is much stronger
dammit all im a poor ole US citizen without any way to play or watch rugby on television. my brother and i invite people over play in our backyard though and its much more fun than american football
Padding isn't compulsory in rugby, and no you don't have to slide into the in goal, you must place the ball on the ground within that area. Sliding is just a way of getting it down safely without the opposition knocking it out of your hands.
wait im confused here. how come theres only a couple guys who wear like helmets or whatever? and do you have to slide into the goal place in order to score? or can you just run in there? sorry guys, i dont know much about rugby ahaha but im gonna play in college though :)
@denny826lee it's optional to wear head gear just to protect your head if you hit the ground hard, but most don't cause they think they're tough xD.
and you don't really need to slide to score, they just do it so they can look cool, what they're really doing is placing the ball on the ground in the goal area. that's what you need to do to 'actually' score, you can't just run in the goal area like football :)
@20327070 LOOOOLLL aite man thanks a lot! ahahhaa loved your explanation. so like if you ran in without touching the ball on the ground, they would like still tackle you and stuff?
@denny826lee yea, they'd probably try and grab the ball off you so you dont score, so you'd probably want to place the ball on the goal area as quick as yu can so they stop running at ya i guess :) these are awesome tries for rugby btw
@20327070 dang alright thanks for the tip! :D im gonna be trying this in college! i think im gonna like it ahahhaa. and yea i watched this video, and i was like wow, the teamwork is awesome!

rugby is great so is football and soccer and baseball and basketball and racketball and tennis and swimming and oil changing and water polo and horse polo and dog grooming and orange picking and pool and mma. STOP WASTINT YOUR TIME TRYING TO COMPARE YOU IDIOTS THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! and yes rugby came way before american football who give a flying golden haired diamond studded maggot talking filled horse shit

@SammyKTA both sports born in the same period you can't say which was first, only than they have te same source...

It's nice to see americans finally realising why rugby is one of the world's most popular sports - and not just making fun of it before they try it
sami2503 1 year ago

I am a football player but I wish the was more Rugby in America. I wanna try it
Paroder 1 year ago

SlippyJacks 1 year ago
DUDE, amazing. Wish our school team could play like that.
alexwiz07 1 year ago
I have seen all of these amazing tries, but I am still convinced that the try at 0:47 - 1:03 is the best try I have ever seen in my life! The guy is kinda chubby, but he was dodging people soo well, it was perfect! He just picked the right pathway, but then he gets tackled, but slides like 5 meters into the scoring zone, so fuck yeah! amazing!

i reckon most people think rugby is about big fat guys pummelling eachother,
This video totally shows the opposite. it shows the speed and skill in rugby.

Padding isn't compulsory in rugby, and no you don't have to slide into the in goal, you must place the ball on the ground within that area. Sliding is just a way of getting it down safely without the opposition knocking it out of your hands.
UHtiger 1 year ago
wait im confused here. how come theres only a couple guys who wear like helmets or whatever? and do you have to slide into the goal place in order to score? or can you just run in there? sorry guys, i dont know much about rugby ahaha but im gonna play in college though :)
denny826lee 1 year ago
@denny826lee it's optional to wear head gear just to protect your head if you hit the ground hard, but most don't cause they think they're tough xD.
and you don't really need to slide to score, they just do it so they can look cool, what they're really doing is placing the ball on the ground in the goal area. that's what you need to do to 'actually' score, you can't just run in the goal area like football :)
20327070 1 year ago
@20327070 LOOOOLLL aite man thanks a lot! ahahhaa loved your explanation. so like if you ran in without touching the ball on the ground, they would like still tackle you and stuff?
denny826lee 1 year ago
@denny826lee yea, they'd probably try and grab the ball off you so you dont score, so you'd probably want to place the ball on the goal area as quick as yu can so they stop running at ya i guess :) these are awesome tries for rugby btw
20327070 1 year ago
@20327070 dang alright thanks for the tip! :D im gonna be trying this in college! i think im gonna like it ahahhaa. and yea i watched this video, and i was like wow, the teamwork is awesome!
