I'm annoyed that most people who oppose the death penalty argue that innocent people have been put to death. It's a possibility, but nonetheless very unlikely. John William Byrd, Jr., Stanley Williams, Cameron Todd Willingham, and many other "cause célèbres" that people claim were wrongfully executed were clearly guilty and many "innocent" people that are currently awaiting execution like Mumia Abu-Jamal, Troy Davis, and Damien Echols are also guilty as HELL.

death penalty is murder, and in most cases its stilla thousand times more humane than whatever the person did the victim of the crime that landed him there, theres no sense economically either forkeeping someone of life setences, that adds up to alot of money instead of just killing the person
Supporting or Opposing, in these cases it's more of "You're going to find what you want if you keep looking." There are studies that show states in the U.S. without the death penalty as a whole have something along the lines of .7 % more murders per 100,000 people. As well as various studies that came out to say each execution deterrs some 18 murders. And on the other end, like some people saying middle east has low crime rate. In any case it's mostly an opinion, let sleeping dogs lie.
well in the middle east, the crime rate is much much lower. capital punishment is almost always used in murder cases. so it obviously does act as a detterent. implemented
I'M DUTCH AND I'M AGAINST DE DEATH PENALTY I think it is ridicilous that the United States is the only western Country who still use the death penalty !
Especially if it's a really brutal crime. I just fail to see how letting someone like a cereal killer off with jail time is justice. I don't think I ever will.
I'd argue that the so-called more humane way of locking up a human being in a cage for the rest of his or her natural life is more cruel than a lethal injection. Imagine living in a super-max prison? You get 1 hour to walk outside in a concrete hole and get to see the sun through a caged roof.
If I had to decide between life in prison and being hanged I'd take the death penalty. Living in a box is 10X more cruel and inhumane.
call me a masshole if u want but i dont think there should be a death penalty for several different reasons and 1 of the ones they didnt really talk bout was money it would accually be cheaper to keep every1 in jail then 2 buy the 3 injections when only 1 is needed 2 kill
obama said his damn self that he supports the death penalty. he's a black man who lived in chicago for years and ought to the poorest of niggers and spics are sentenced to death, and the anglo aristocrats are the worst of criminals but have the means to manipulate the law so they don't get what they deserve.
I'm glad we don't have the death penalty in the uk I wouldn't want to live in a town that has the right to end my life and I love how angry some americans get about little comments all you see is people saying 'fuck you' because somebody expressed an opinion it's funny
Why do leftist assholes like this always take the side of criminals? This jerk stuck up for Tookie Williams, an animal that literally blew the face off of a woman with a shotgun, just to rob her family's store. I've got an idea, why don't we sentence the worst of the worst, to live with the Mike Farrels of the world, and the judges who set them free? I'd love to see Farrel's stupid face when he gets up in the morning and a "Tookie" is sitting in his easy chair!
Not to distract, but if I was a state prosecutor [Oh, wait. I really am.] I wouldn't want my Trial rules being mandated by someone who wasn't involved in the case.
If you've ever toured a modern prison, two things should be obvious. 1) There is no escape, and 2) It is a MISERABLE place. I'm more than happy with throwing even the worst of criminals in a miserable hole for the rest of their lives instead of killing them.
Worse can be debated... More useful CAN'T however. I mean, think about it reasonably. Dead men tell no tales. A LIVING criminal on the other hand can be used by profilers and others in order to help them to save lives by being studied. Sure, some will never talk but enough of them eventually will to make it a worthwhile investment. While coroners speak for the dead to protect the living, profilers speak to the criminal to protect the innocent. And, they just can't do that if they're dead.
Actually this prick doesn't know anything. There's several hundred instances in which Obama could not commute the sentences to LWOP. Almost all of the people on Texas death row were sentenced when the only choice was
life (with parole after between 15 and 40 years) and thus if their sentences were commuted they would not get LWOP.
I disagree. And LWOP may do something, but that person is still allowed to breath and read and do all of the things they love for the next few decades, their victim isn't. They can still have their family visit them, their victim's family can't visit their loved one.
THAT is why I say LWOP does not accurately reflect the damage murderers cause.
Who are you to tell me how I should react to one of my family being murdered?
I don't get in people's way and I'm polite, helpful etc but I feel if people encroach upon my freedoms or liberties or hurt me I have the right to use deadly force to stop them.
If you break into someone's home you should expect to get shot, if you try to steal someone's car/phone/wallet expect to get shot and if you kill somebody KNOW you will get killed for it. That's how society should be.
But really the family of the murdered victim are the people who sentences should be tailoring to. Its bad enough for someone you love to die, even worse when they die a violent death at someone's hands and even worse than that if the murderer is released in 15 or 20 years.
I'd love for a Judge to explain to me how they can sentence a killer to 20 years when in 20 years the victim's family are still suffering, how the fuck is that justice?
When someone you love is killed a sense of justice would overcome you if the person who did it was killed.
Also who are you to say how the family of a murder victim should see justice? They were the ones who lost the relative, not you, so what right do you have to say the killer shouldn't die? You don't have any.
The government has every right to do to you what you did to your victim.
Pork, nice name, maybe you didn't know that GWB & the neoconservatives are occult members who get demonic power from murdering people & animals. They get demonic power not only from all the innocent deaths in Iraq, Afghanistan, but from the murders of prisoners in their states & the federal government.
Every man & woman who dies in combat gives the neoconservative coven more demonic power from molech/baal/lucifer or whatever you want to call their demonic god on any given day.
No they don't. The victim's dead, why shouldn't they die? It cheapens human life to NOT execute murderers, what message does it send to say, "This victim's life is only worth 20 years in prison"?
What the hell is wrong with you people? The people we kill with the death penalty would spend their life in jail, cost the govenment and not to mention they are the worst people in the country. There is no logical reason to keep them alive.
I see this as a problem with racsism and incorect sentancing. Rather than a problem with killing people who have no use anymore.
This is to me like when Bill O'Reilly went after the drunk driving illegal imigrant, And claimed it was a Illegal imigrant problem rather than a drunk driving problem.
are those problem we can really get rid of? human fallibility pretty much guarantees that we will accidentally sentence the wrong person. and we've been trying to stomp out racism for how long?
and until we fix those problems, is it a good idea to keep using capital punishment?
I agree with you completely. There should be a minimum of evidence for capital punishment and if the evidence meets the minimum requirements, the supreme court should sentence that person to death. That would curb the ability for racist decisions and would drastically lower the number of innocent people on death row. It sounds a bit heartless, but I do not think murderers deserve our mercy
It's not a matter of mercy, i will quite silence of the lambs on this one, actully I wont but I will give you the gist. He was complaining about half measures and how a society that knows he will never be let out will not either kill him or put him to work. Jail for life is a half measure, it's a lack of a final deceision on a person's life.
There is too much scope for judicial flexibility under the current state law regarding capital felonies. I'd imagine when sentencing a federal death penalty case Judges are subject to the complex and rigid sentencing guidelines that govern sentencing in all federal cases.
Maybe guidelines should be introduced in all the states with the DP structuring its implementation.
Some people just like to kill. They like violence. They see it as the best solution to their problems. It's the way they grew up, and they don't see any reason to change. There is a thrill in killing someone. It makes you feel very powerful. If it's uncivilized who cares? We're america. We do what we want. If we like to kill people we can do what we like. It's fun. It makes us feel good. There's nothing wrong with it. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
Unhappily Jesus, as and icon, is marvelous and wonderful, but if he were to show up in real life, he would be recognized as a criminal or a punishable by the very people who made him an icon. People who had power in hand hated him. Essentially the pope would hate that SOB's living presence, while loving his iconic image which is totally controllable. The Catholic hierarchy would happily kill Jesus in the name of Jesus or god. It's ironic and sad. Jesus had very little or no hierarchal stance.
The problem with killing other people is that they might be just like you, but stamped or branded as "expendible" or "worthless" by you. Reasoning parents can help a person not be an outsider or "expendible". Could be this circumstance is avoidable, but it is simply "easier" to gain status and kill the people who were always treated poorly and have learned "thug methods". Instead of putting them to death, you could try to rehab them by sending them to a Marijuana producing plantation..
Hasn't anyone ever had a boss who imagined himself or herself able to substitute a death threat for being capable or wise. And does not the status quo generally support this? Someone with status decided they want to kill you and therefore you must have done something that requires killing you. This is because in nature status generally wields the ability to destroy truth with collusion and murder. Winning or ascending means killing somebody if only for a demonstration of status quo.
Jesus was killed because he did not belong to the temple or icon builders. Another way to say that is he did not fit in and was generally opposed to the powers who had control over the killing of the riff raff characters. Apparently Jesus (real or legend) was riff raff to the high and mighty of Jerusalem. Jesus was a criminal who was kicking out the chocks in the status quo with thinking methods, which was apparently a capital and "torture to death" offense. It's just nature.
It's not about "future" actions. It's about forfeiting one's life for taking another's. If you execute a murderer it is a deterrent for that one from ever killing again. That's the kind of deterrent we are seeking. We do not have a perfect system, but it can be made more effective. Don't kill or you'll be killed. Seems fair to me.
Well, others have expressed it well. Your killing innocents also.
But the issue also is that it isnt a deterrent.
You may think its logical that people will think of the penalty before doing the crime, but when it comes to a crime of that nature people just hope they will get away with it.
Theres no evidence that people were deterred from killing people because they would be killed themselves.
Killing is often done in an emotional situation, not a practical one like theft.
I meant that by killing the brutal murderer he would be deterred from killing again. That is how I meant deterrent. It's been proven that the thought of the death penalty is not a deterrent to others. Murder is most often a crime of passion without forethought.
Considering people that get the death penalty would have life anyway, and most of the time without parole, I dont think the death penalty is even necessary
You could say that if they are going to get life already then why not just save money and space and kill them. A few innocents are worth it
I am not a big hugger, I find it hard to take a stance that its inhumane to kill for any reason but self defense, yet i dont take an emotional stance either so I must ask, is money a good reason for it
Since DNA evidence has become popular, more and more so-called criminals have been released from prison...some for very high crimes. The death penalty is wrong, because our justice system is far from perfect. Innocent people go to prison every day.
We must be judicious and circumspect in the application of punishment and keep the death penalty in reserve for wiping shit like Mumia Abu-Jamal of the face of the Earth.
It's more expensinve to execute someone than to keep them in prison, partially because of the appeals process. It's true. It's more expensive to execute than to imprison for life.
im a hypocrite. i believe in the death penalty, but i would never kill someone. i don't want my taxpaying money to go toward feeding, sheltering, giving medcare, and clothes to people who are a threat to society. why should i pay for someone who harmed my children? besides, it enforces the law more. if people knew that the *cough* *reward* *cough* punishment for killing someone was a free ride for your whole life, would they think twice? i doubt it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The death penalty is inhumane?you gotta be fucking kidding me right?it's simple, you murder someone or molest a child & you're caught red handed then you die you don't deserve to live, there's too many debt slave fucks on this planet anyway..i bet if someone violently murdered one of this assclown's family members,he'd be looking to kill the mutherfucker with his barehands..an eye for an eye dipshits..it's that simple :)
All i know is if someone murdered 1 of my family members,I'd be looking to take that mutherfucker out,I think I'd be justified, fuck 2 wrongs don't make a right,if it makes me a murderer,I'm cool with that..
As long as he can't hurt anyone ELSE what difference does it make? Killing him will not bring my mom back now would it? Have you ever been screened for antisocial personality disorder?
Sorry but I support the death penalty for anyone who murders someone, are molest a child under 12 years old. These type of people do not give their victims a break.
that's all fine and dandy but what if they didn't do it. our justice system is far from perfect. sometimes they get it wrong. google it if u don't believe me. u'd be surprised at the number of death penalties overturned cause they were innocent. all we have to do is kill one innocent person and were all murders.
I would think with DNA sampling now we should not be seeing that many mistakes. I will go along with making sure the person is guilty. Now when DNA and other evidence show they are guilty the death penalty should be applied, and be applied with in one year.

The money spent on keeping the worst kind of criminals alive, could be better spent elsewhere. I believe in the death penalty.
Faustuss1 3 years ago
Some people deserve it. The death penalty should not be outlawed.
allenrw3 3 years ago
The problem is who deserves it and who is innocent.
Are you omniscient?
If you take an emotional stance in regard to whether others should die, you dont make the wisest decisions.
Deserve is subjective anyway.
The only thing positive about the death penalty is that its cheaper then housing them for life.

Winning or ascending means killing somebody if only for a demonstration of status quo.
hypnofan35 3 years ago
Jesus was killed because he did not belong to the temple or icon builders. Another way to say that is he did not fit in and was generally opposed to the powers who had control over the killing of the riff raff characters. Apparently Jesus (real or legend) was riff raff to the high and mighty of Jerusalem. Jesus was a criminal who was kicking out the chocks in the status quo with thinking methods, which was apparently a capital and "torture to death" offense. It's just nature.
hypnofan35 3 years ago
death penalty should be abolished because:
1. many many are actually innocent
2. it's easy enough for the State to kill people if they really need to be neutralised, in secret.
norbu2006 3 years ago
I don't believe in the death penalty becuase some of those people are innocent.

Philinspaces 3 years ago
Well, others have expressed it well. Your killing innocents also.
But the issue also is that it isnt a deterrent.
You may think its logical that people will think of the penalty before doing the crime, but when it comes to a crime of that nature people just hope they will get away with it.
Theres no evidence that people were deterred from killing people because they would be killed themselves.
Killing is often done in an emotional situation, not a practical one like theft.
waltermh111 3 years ago
I meant that by killing the brutal murderer he would be deterred from killing again. That is how I meant deterrent. It's been proven that the thought of the death penalty is not a deterrent to others. Murder is most often a crime of passion without forethought.
Philinspaces 3 years ago
Considering people that get the death penalty would have life anyway, and most of the time without parole, I dont think the death penalty is even necessary
You could say that if they are going to get life already then why not just save money and space and kill them. A few innocents are worth it
I am not a big hugger, I find it hard to take a stance that its inhumane to kill for any reason but self defense, yet i dont take an emotional stance either so I must ask, is money a good reason for it
waltermh111 3 years ago
Innocent are killed in death row, that's the reason why I'm against the death penalty.
That and killing anything is just wrong.

Since DNA evidence has become popular, more and more so-called criminals have been released from prison...some for very high crimes. The death penalty is wrong, because our justice system is far from perfect. Innocent people go to prison every day.

We must be judicious and circumspect in the application of punishment and keep the death penalty in reserve for wiping shit like Mumia Abu-Jamal of the face of the Earth.

the death penalty is a problem?
Wait.. Im expected to feel sympathy for people who seem to not give a shit about taking another human being's life?
Nope sorry. I dont think so. SORRY. A life for a life. I dont care about them at all and I dont want my taxe dollars going to containing that animal.

$114 million more expensive to kill than to let live? i respected this vid very much but honestly, thats bull crap.
sorry8140 3 years ago
It's more expensinve to execute someone than to keep them in prison, partially because of the appeals process. It's true. It's more expensive to execute than to imprison for life.
Hereticbooks 3 years ago
im a hypocrite. i believe in the death penalty, but i would never kill someone. i don't want my taxpaying money to go toward feeding, sheltering, giving medcare, and clothes to people who are a threat to society. why should i pay for someone who harmed my children? besides, it enforces the law more. if people knew that the *cough* *reward* *cough* punishment for killing someone was a free ride for your whole life, would they think twice? i doubt it.

The death penalty is inhumane?you gotta be fucking kidding me right?it's simple, you murder someone or molest a child & you're caught red handed then you die you don't deserve to live, there's too many debt slave fucks on this planet anyway..i bet if someone violently murdered one of this assclown's family members,he'd be looking to kill the mutherfucker with his barehands..an eye for an eye dipshits..it's that simple :)
bofoleone 3 years ago
It is inhuman. You're a muderer yourself. To wrongs do not overwrite yours, in if it was for the "good".
AnnaSmee 3 years ago 3
All i know is if someone murdered 1 of my family members,I'd be looking to take that mutherfucker out,I think I'd be justified, fuck 2 wrongs don't make a right,if it makes me a murderer,I'm cool with that..
bofoleone 3 years ago
Then how are you better than the mutherfucker who killed one of your family members?
AnnaSmee 3 years ago
So you are a potential murderer? We need to murder you. No, lets just put you in prison.
Warnomore50 3 years ago
You were so bad we have to murder you. What kind of logic is that?
Warnomore50 3 years ago 2
So if someone violently raped your mom & chopped her head off, you'd be cool with him just doing time?GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!
bofoleone 3 years ago
As long as he can't hurt anyone ELSE what difference does it make? Killing him will not bring my mom back now would it? Have you ever been screened for antisocial personality disorder?
Warnomore50 3 years ago
So your moral principle is "do unto others as they do unto you"?
graaaaaagh 3 years ago
My moral principle is you kill you die, simple as that...
bofoleone 3 years ago
That's what I said.
But an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Punishment is just childish revenge.
graaaaaagh 3 years ago
Its an eye for an eye. Why should we pay 60k a year to keep a murderer alive? If you openly kill another you should be put to death.

I'd rather kill scumbags than keep them alive on our money.

Sorry but I support the death penalty for anyone who murders someone, are molest a child under 12 years old. These type of people do not give their victims a break.
spock8585 3 years ago
that's all fine and dandy but what if they didn't do it. our justice system is far from perfect. sometimes they get it wrong. google it if u don't believe me. u'd be surprised at the number of death penalties overturned cause they were innocent. all we have to do is kill one innocent person and were all murders.
popasmurf78 3 years ago
I would think with DNA sampling now we should not be seeing that many mistakes. I will go along with making sure the person is guilty. Now when DNA and other evidence show they are guilty the death penalty should be applied, and be applied with in one year.
