I'm not looking for an argument, I don't know much of the singer and was curious on your comparison to the painter. Is it based on the habits of solitude?
Yes, Ani requests that no cameras (flashes) or video are permitted. However, with cell phones etc that are impossible to police... videos like these are often easy to find!
I saw her 5 days after this in New Orleans, and we were NOT allowed to have cameras (by Ani's choice) - does anyone have any idea why she would allow them at some shows but not at others???? Just curious.
Most performers including Ani don't allow cameras because of the nuisance of flash photography. Cameras weren't allowed at Tampa Theatre, but Ani depends on the venue to enforce that rule, and they were fairly lax. I guess the theatre mgt was too busy selling popcorn (yes popcorn!!) to enforce the no-cameras rule. If you want to tape Ani, catch her at an open-air venue like a festival.
oh I enjoyed the no camera rule - no flashes, and no one holding a camera up in the way the whole time - i've seen ani several times (this being the first where cameras weren't allowed)and she was more talkative with the crowd - best time yet!
Agreed. But in addition to the "no cameras" rule, Ani should institute a "no *ssholes" rule at her concerts. In a perfect world, the rule would be vigorously enforced against the drunk morons who stand up at inapproporiate times to shout out "I love u Ani". Hint, if it's a seated venue and you're the only ones standing up, then you're a drunk moron who needs to sit your dumbarse back down. For the record, I was very discreet with my recording so as to not disturb fellow concertgoers.
Definitely! I cringe anytime I hear "I love you Ani" or when people try to ask her about Petah - just shut up and let her sing HER songs - before every show, someone should come out on the stage and tell the crowd not to sing along! Course, in the words of Ani, "how would that look?" haha
I give you props, definitely, for being polite.. And I've been around the block, I used to trade old school bootlegs WAYYYYY back in the day, (like, '92-'93) (on tape, lol) and the most obnoxious thing would be the people yelling "I LOVE YOU" to ruin a great show. But, great job. As a longtime Ani fan, I salute you. :D
Thanks. I'm proud of my stealth vids. And I normally don't have a problem with folks standing up and offering love nuggets during a concert, except when they screw up my bootlegs ... i mean "archival recordings".

I think she's coming to an Agnes Martin mentality... I'm already coming to it myself, and I'm only 21.

I think the cameras depend on the management of whatever venue she is playing in.
