Of female vocalists, I would be hesitant to say she is the best ever, since there are so many different voices out there, but I would say with confidence that she is the hardest-singing female rock vocalist in American history. David Lee can get away with his awesome jumps and kicks because he's a bonafide rock god....a legend who earned his rights....Fergie is just a ProTools twit who uses cartwheels to disguise her lack of vocal talent onstage. When David Lee launched 10-ft. off Alex's drum riser into a perfect split eagle, it was an explosive expression of rock n' roll perfection. Bottom line is....Roth Van Halen was as good as rock music will ever be....Fergie represents the cheapest common denominator.

When David Lee nailed those amazing leaps...he was telling all of us "Chase your dreams, and jump as high as you can for them"....when he launched into a perfect spin-kick, he was saying "Fuck all you disco & punk bands - this is what rock is all about"....Diamond Dave brought the fun & the fury back to rock music, and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for it. Eddie is a great guitarist, but David Lee is the real spirit of Van Halen....CASE CLOSED.
