I can only go by memory and what I've seen around as a kid. I almost forgot about posting this! LOL But I did ponder this on and off over the next 2 weeks and I've concluded that this fan was most likely made between 1975 & 1978, but based only on the period when Lakewood had similar-shaped blades.
I do believe it was a blue version of this model that I accidentally broke when I was 5 years old. ( I accidentally broke one of the blades when I stuck a pencil inside). It, along with a Green Lakewood, were the first 2 fans I remember us having. Both had to be older than me (1976). The Lakewood actually lasted into the 1990's.
I have a Hunter box fan that my parents bought back in late 1969. The fan survived being used as a ventilation fan for a paint room where laquer paint was sprayed. Later it survived severely worn bushings and shaft because the motor stalled out for over eight hours on low speed. I later repaired the fan by scavenging bushings and a shaft from a newer ( JUNK) box fan ( Can't remember the brand) to repair the Hunter. Still runs great to this day. Needs to be restored
i got one just like that except its a newer model and for some reason whenever i try to turn it on the motor makes a small flashing spark, anyone got any ideas because i was considering taking apart the whole motor and putting the wiring back together while checking for any shorts and such, also could that small black box be burned out (the one with 2 wires) i forget what its called
thanks, it may not and im about to check so im guessing if it doesnt i shouldnt have to worry too much about anything blowing. the axel spins just fine to my knowledge so there must be something stuck up in the wiring of the motor itself causing a short circuit, however the outlet doesnt short out and turn off so it leaves me wondering what it could possibly be, i guess im gonna just take it apart clean and rebuild it then if that dont work ill just replace the motor. these are great fans
well since it's a hunter.... hunter USUALLY made their own motors.... so yeah. It could be a Robbins and Myers motor, or it could be a hunter motor. I have one similar to this.
My grandma used to have this fan till i was like around 7-8 years old. The one she had had a motor where you can electronically reverse it so it would also exhaust air out the window. She threw it out though. :( (motor burned out)
I have two that are the skinny seven blade hunters, and two that are similar to yoursn and a first generation hunter like yours except that is has metal guards on it. I also have somewhere a metal blade Hunter box fan . I also have a window fan like this hunter which works perfectly. An I have so many more it would be impossible to list. I have collected since the late seventies. (I was 4 years old). E-mail me, I'd love to tell you more.
That style of fans is very rare and hard to find.I have that same fan but not a hunter its actully a EXP brand had it for 11 years and still kicking out great air.
signature had a fan like this but both the grilles were plastic and it was reversible and had the same blade set as this.i can tell these blades are meant for reversing as well.
that is one powerful boxfan

Have you fan folks seen a thing called a propeller clock!
It's a gizmo that uses l.e.d.'s to turn a spinning fan disk into a tv screen.
Check it out. it's really cool!

The box is called a capacitor and I'm not quite sure if older fans have these in their motors.

I actually recall somebody had a window fan with that type of blade set (it's almost like I remember the center piece of it all too well.)
